Unfair child support laws

The child support laws need to be changed to favor equally the 'financial' aspects, but to give equal weight to the other emotional aspects. The current laws do not add equal weight to visitation that they do for collecting money. If you're going to have a system to 'ensure the well-being of children' there's more to it than extracting money from one parent and giving it to the other. In TN we have a 'review' system for the rate of child support, currently with four years remaining in my support, my exwife has used this to try to get an increase in my support. She broke the parenting plan years ago, and I don't have the same mechanism to 'review' my visititation and can't put a price on the time that I've lost because of this inequality and my ex-spouse's inability to adhere to an agreement. -

I pay child support and im fine with it but anytime me and my current wife tries to move on my bitter ex runs down to the office and sues me over and over again... I was supposed to stop paying child support for my son almost 3 months ago, instead of taking me off they sue me for more money. I have overpaid my ex 1400 dollars because of a wrongful court order and they want to sue me. My current wife has stood by me but im afraid that I may lose her because she is frustrated. I dont have any more money for lawyers, my wifes check pays my attorneys fees. My ex wife is a lpn nurse. Her income runs circles around mine but the courts dont care, I need serious help or im going to lose everything.REPORT COMMENTS

This isnt just about men paying child support... I am a mother that has to pay child support. I understand the need for some money to help out but its really ridiculous what he gets from me. I suffer each month, scared to take time off, drive a car well over 10 years old that is dying and there he is with a new family, new car, new house, etc. He tells me he does the child support to punish me. I wanted my child to be in the good school that she was attending, to keep her same friends and have a stable life so he and I had agreed that if I didnt go for alimony - he wouldnt for child support as I wasnt going to fight for full custoday because I wanted her stablility more than my own. After divorce was final, he went for child support. Its near impossible to live with what they take. And for those people that preach getting a second job for the good of the child should try it themselves. Im tired, Im sick and Im just simply worn out..... the laws need to change - who the hell came up with its ok to live off of 50% of what we make? Its ridiculous and impossible.REPORT COMMENTS

As a woman I agree with several of your comments. My man has to deal with his crazy ex-wife from GA who is all about the $. Even though they have joint custody, she does not allow him to speak to his kids cause she is unhappy. The only reason why she is getting away with this is because he had to move back CT to get back on his feet. She takes 90% of his check and knows he can't afford a plane ticket to visit his kids. I feel for man who can give their kids a better life but can't because their ex is about the money and not their children. Unlike his divorce, I went into mine knowing our son comes first. We have joint custody, I didn't take any child support. We go 50/50 on everything. In order for this happen someone in the relationship needs to be the bigger person and keep the peace and at the same time do not allow the other to disrespect you. I hate to see my man/good man go through this. They need to change the laws in GA (everywhere) that put the children first, not these selfish, greedy*****women.REPORT COMMENTS

Child support laws really need to be looked at. There is a lot of women that have children just to get a child support check. With that being said I feel if the father of the child is doing well for his self and he wants the child and he will not ask for child support or live of welfare then the child should be with him. I don?t think that it is right for a person to be punished because they want to work hard and go to school and better their self. I hear it all the time I can?t go to school because I got the kids or I can?t work a good job because I got the kids, but when the father say well I will take the kids you don?t have to pay child support the mother will say no because she don?t want to go to school, she don?t want to work and she want to stay on welfare. We have women that are getting pregnant not one time but 2 and three times by different men. The first thing that these women do is run to the government and get on section 8 housing, receive food stamps, daycare, and child support for each child at around 500-1000 each child then they might work a part time job making around 500-1000 dollars a mouth. And they will party on the weekends get high on drugs and they will wear clothes and have their hair done every week that coast more than car payment a mouth. And they will live like this for years and teach their kids how to get by with no work or very minimal work. If the government turn child support into a voucher program that requires the person turn in a list each month for everything they need for the child the father pays social services and they will give the mother in paper voucher that can only get those item not cash.REPORT COMMENTS

It's ********... the mother's feel they have the right to not work just because they receive a check in support... but then turn around and complain that "oh it's not enough!". They oughta get off their ****ing*****and get a job too! It's a 2 way street. Treating it as though the father is 100% responsible for all financial obligations. And what they can't afford from the support, they get from the welfare system. This spells L-A-Z-Y... Epitome of the word in fact. And to boot, the obligation amounts are bogusly expensive so that it's worth the state's time to collect "their percentage". No one is oblivious to this practice. Everybody knows it doesn't take 700 dollars from ONE PERSON to raise 2 little kids a month. Child support is about needs... not wants. If the mother's worked, her amount plus the father's amount should equal that. Utilities gotta be paid regardless of the kids being there or not. That is outrageous.REPORT COMMENTS

Child support laws are extremely unfair in Texas. Majority of the women who receive it don't/won't work and live off of the money even when the kids are school age. They jump from man to man making kids to get free money. Why would a man want to better himself when most of their income gets taken away anyway.REPORT COMMENTS

It is clearly note that parents need to provide for their child(ren) fathers should not be subject to harsher punishment, if you can put fathers in jail for not paying their support, mother should also be jailed for not allowing visitation, or keeping the child from their father. Support should be visibly clear that support is for child(ren) living in the home not living with relatives or friends.REPORT COMMENTS

He is active duty army and we only see $565 every 2 weeks to pay our own bills, other debt, groceries, gas etc, while the trailor park mother takes home almost twice what we get, while smoking around my stepdaughter who has allergies and moving boyfriends in. VA dcse took s military father trying to do right by his child and screwed him every whoch way they could while talking to him like he was a deadbeat over the phone. My stepdaughter is with us right now for the summer but do we have money to take her places? No, I have generous parents who gave us money so she could even stay here, if not we wouldnt even have enough for proper groceries....besides us having to pay for the cost of plane tickets. Child support agencies do not care that when they take that amount of money they are actually taking sometjing more importsnt from the child....time with their father.REPORT COMMENTS

How are people so clueless about this child support? Base it off of what you make?? Say I made 150.000 a yr,what would monthly child support be on that for one child???? She's a good mom, good job, I am a good dad, decent job. 800$ a month for one child is killing me. I'm in construction. If it rains we don't work. We don't always get overtime. We don't always have work.get a second job???suck it! I work hard and I'm tired when I get home! I'm notgonna kill myself because someone came up with some crap numbers. Its construction. Its notalways consistent! I have a phone, renting a room(350$ crap) insurance, groceries and gas.all that is 8$ more than what I make in a month. Unfair bias financially toward women. He pays through the nose in child support, is NOT permitted to stipulate how any of the money is spent (such as, toward a college fund), and she gets to use it on whatever she wants. Primarily, paying for the house (which she got), her new car (shortly after divorce finalized) and trips with her new boyfriend every few months. Meanwhile, Dad STILL has a lot to pay for during the 40% of the time he has the kids. They still have to eat, need clothes and need a roof over their head at Dad's house, too. Completely unfair and complete crap. STOP SCREWING THE DADS.REPORT COMMENTS

After being the primary caregiver of my 2 Children for 7 years it was determined that none of that mattered in court, that we are looking forward.......Really so if a Woman was in the same spot she would get no credit for taking care of them in their formative years? So moving forward I was still able to care fo r the kids 75 percent of the time but was told that despite putting my kids on the bus or driving them to school for their entire lives as well as doing homework work books feeding them etc I would be paying to put the kids in morning care which i could provied no less.........after 9000 diapers or so, 1000's of meals, loads of wash, months of work days ( I work for myself from home) rearranged to watch sick kids and take care of kids while Mom went back and got a second Masters degree, while Mom tore her Miniscus and couldn;t do anything 38 Doctor visits I was nothing more than good time Dad to the GAL. I was told by my attorney that if I could come up with $30,000+ we might be able to win a trial and that he could prove the GAL was a liar. Not having $30,000 lying around I had to accept it but it was erroneous. What could I do? I now pay insane support ins daycare dcotr co pays activities and am broke and see my kids 35% of the time. Mom puts them in morning Daycare so she can go to the gym. Do not ever hire Steve Krentz as your GAL if you are a Man in Illinois he is totally imcompetent. If he is appointed ask for a change. he screwed up my whole case from billing issues to not running credit cards to not talking to witnesses to asking for and receiving more information to which there was no follow up and he just blew off the information.
