It is so sad that there are lawyers, judges, and especially the guardian ad litems (that are solely there for the abused child) have the audacity to turn their heads to not only the physical abuse, but the psychological torture of an abused child. The decisions that the legal system makes ultimately punish the child for being brave enough to come forward while trying to escape the horrible choices of the abuser! This is travesty to the well being of the child now and crumbles any hopes that they may have for the future. All child abuse cases should have a federal task force who monitor and review these cases that are not linked to the legal ?band of brothers? and therefore not influenced by them. In addition, everyone who is found to have a hand in this ?COURT ORDERED CHILD ABUSE? should be prosecuted, convicted, and punished for the crime of child abuse!REPORT COMMENTS

Hawaii is no "paradise" for children being forced by family court to live with , visit with or be exposed to a parent who abused the other parent. In families unaffected by violence or abuse, no one forces family members into having "meaningful and ongoing relationships" with each other so why is it that when violence or abuse have been acknowledged or discovered, the family court sees fit to play Frankenstein with children's lives? How many times have we seen the "professionalism" of a judge or family court agent override a protective parent's instinct with tragic and irreversible results? And then they're not held accountable due to "immunity"? In other professions incompetence translates to malpractice. This has GOT to stop and as members of Congress who are supposed to look out for the nation's best interests, please do so by FEDERALLY investigating family court corruption in ALL of the states - lives LITERALLY depend upon it!REPORT COMMENTS

I was told by a court-ordered psychologist evaluating my son that if i didn't talk about child abuse that was occuring he would recommend me to have more time with my child but he would not stop visitation with my child's father, despite significant indicators that his father was abusive and psychologically unstable. When my son had rectal bleeding, bruises around his hips and thighs and rope burns on his neck and arms, my own lawyer told me not to seek medical care for him because it would be misconstrued as my attempt to gain custody. I took him to the doctor anyway, and the doctor, fearful over litigation, acknowledged that the symptoms were probably from abuse, but he had to rule out other possible causes. Over the course of a year, my sons behavior progressed to suicide. He was just five years old and he wanted to take his own life because he could no longer bear the pain of having to go back to a place where he was being repeatedly restrained, beaten and sexually assaulted. When I was five, I was filled with dreams of my future. I looked forward to playing with my friends, picking flowers, holidays. My son was so disoriented from the trauma that to him, dying was a better option than living. When I would ask him to talk about his feelings, he could not talk about it because he was so ashamed and so afraid. He was afraid because his father and another man told him that it was all his fault, no one would believe him, and if he told, they would kill his mother and any one else who found out. The effects of watching your own child slowly become mentally ill causes psychological damage to the non-abusive parent as well. Thenon-abusive parent operates in a system that says bury the problem and forget about it. When we look arond our society at sex offenders, rapists, violent predators, the majority were sexually or physically abused in childhood. In divorce cases where custody battles are coupled with domestic violence or a satellite of other predictors of deviant behaviors that are associated with abuse of children, please think twice, about my son. He was tied up, beaten, and raped, and he said nothing to several court evaluators. It was only over time, when he was finally removed from the abusive environment, that he told a second court- ordered psychologist what he had suffered. President and Mrs. Obama, legislators, and public citizens, please open your eyes to this problem. Please consider supporting legislation that will protect children in highly contentious divorce cases, instead of punish those who ask for their child's safety. My son was five years old, he was tied up, beaten and raped, and he wished to die because the law is on the abuser's side.REPORT COMMENTS

Four judges and the D.A.'s office connived to have my daughter and me arrested when the four younger teenagers ran away from their abusive father. She spent 4 days amont prostitutes and drug addicts and had to promise to pay her father's attorney fees as bail in order to get out of jail. I spent 6 months in maximum security, with murderers and drug dealers, for a crime I never committed. Documents (sealed to this day) were used to deceive Governor Schwarzenegger into signing an extradition warrant. My habeas corpus has been stalled in court for over 3 years.
