I really don't understand how the law/court/judge required a $1100.00 Child Support for a 13 years old child. And then tell the father that he can survive with $650.00 a month. Stop adding the BAH and BAS to calculate Child Support... This is insane...

Hawaii is very expensive to live in! BAH should be protected from support!

The ability for former military spouses to leverage BAH against service members in child support calculations is a discriminatory, abused tactic. BAH is paid to service members to offset the cost of living in areas when government housing is not available. The intent was to compensate service members that must live a transient lifestyle to meet the needs of the service, unlike civilians that can live in a home and build equity. If the service member is in a particularly expensive area for service, such as San Francisco or Seattle, he or she receives greater BAH. Divorce courts exploit service members by counting BAH as income when the service member could live on post housing, if available, and not receive BAH. But the court would demand the increased CS calculation that includes BAH with income. It arbitrarily forces the service member to live off post or sue for reduced BAH after every permanent change of service. I implore congress to federally mandate courts to remove BAH and VA disability from all child support calculations in protection of our soldiers, sailors, and marines.

Many service members and their families have more than one house they pay for (like us). Without BAH, there wouldn't be any way for us to maintain the house we bought and the house we live in now at our current duty station. BAH/BAS is not a luxury. It's a way to help out military families with being required to live in geographical regions that the government requires them to live in and to offset costs associated with varied and fluctuated costs of living. All the sacrifices our military members make and not a single benefit they receive can come without some form of catch. How about someone make a sacrifice like our military does for once and put the ones that fight for freedom first!

You would think that the military would protect it's service members against some money hungry women. What is BAH/BAS used for? Allowing this to happen is beyond ridiculous. If i lived in base housing then it would not be included, but because i chose to live out in town,it's included and I am screwed over. How about passing a law for us service members that the custodial parent receiving the child support get an audit or is that just a free pay check for them. How do you pay $700 dollars in child support for a 16 year, my 6 year old needs more care than that and it definitely doesn't add up to $700, not even close! Help us out!!! I have no problem taking care of MY CHILD, but taking money from my BAH/BAS to give to the mother of my daughter so she can go out and finance the latest model Mercedes is unacceptable!! Needs to have accountability both ways to ensure that money is being spent on that CHILD, Hence the name, CHILD SUPPORT!!
