Not fair! Contributed for 59 yrs to ss, have to work another 2 1/2 yrs to age 66. Won't be able to collect any of my $2056 month SS benefit and can't opt out of making future contributions because my husband worked for a railroad. Now the politicians want me to pay more for Medicare! Are the politicians going to exempt themselves like with WEP/ GPO?

I recently retired with 35 years of service as an educator in Ohio. Prior to his death, my husband worked in the private sector and contributed to social security. It is unfair that I will not be able to draw on his social security! Help repeal WEP/GPO to provide fairness to EVERYONE!!!

I forgot to mention Why isn't this topic mentioned in the current presidential campaign. Oh that's right, I think Obama mentioned he would fix it in one of his presidential campaigns. I guess that idea is out.

It's time to stop steeling from the American People who worked for the Government and private sector. We didn't work multiple jobs and pay multiple pensions to get robbed. We did it to survive. Meanwhile The Government gives money to other countries. Well it's time to take care of your own people first. We are not asking for something special, we want what we paid for. When you pay into two buckets, you should receive from two buckets. The problem is, the government stole from the national bucket. Stop robbing the Americans who supported you.

I am a recent widow that is denied 40 years earned social security benefits of my late husband because of the WEP/GPO. As a retired public school teacher I served the state of Alaska for 25 years and because of choosing that career I am penalized through the WEP/GPO. Please repeal the unfair WEP/GPO.

The WEP and GPO are absurd. People who pay into the system should not be punished for working at public sector jobs. It discourages talented workers from seeking public employment. Perhaps that was the goal of these provisions in the first place?

My social security benefits went from $1146 to $116 when I started drawing my TRS. I am 68 years old. This is totally unfair. It is time something be done. We need action!!!

Is it fair that all spouses of a person that earned Social Security benefits would be eligible for spousal benefits, even if, hypothetically, that person was married ten times; all ten of those spouses could draw Social Security spousal benefits from that one person: despite the fact that none of the spouses ever contributed a dime to Social Security. However, a teacher cannot draw spousal benefits from their respective spouse based on that spouse?s earned Social Security benefits due solely to the fact that they decided to dedicate themselves to teaching as a career: as defined under the Government Pension Offset Provision. Is it fair that a person earned 40 quarters of credits to meet Social Security eligibility; however, unknowingly forfeits those benefits by choosing late in their career to serve the public as a teacher: the reality of the Windfall Elimination Provision. Especially when considering that benefits are being paid out to those who never paid or did not fully contribute to the system (like SSI receipeints); yet, those in the public sector, that fully contributed into the system, are denied the opportunity to receive the Social Security benefits they fully earned. NO, it is not fair and is discriminatory! Repeal these two unfair provisions!

Corporations have been getting out of pension payments to hourly employees for years now. Politicians are now taking pension payments from public employees? And why? To keep paying out political retirement pensions, and corporate tax breaks. Unfair!

Since I must pay monthly premiums for Medicare B, it would help to get a small social security pension to offset the financial drain. Plus with Obama care coming I expect to really be hit with premiums. Note I do pay premiums to OPERS as well.

This is nothing but plain theft. If you paid into both, you should receive from both. I am still waiting for President Obama to answer me and send me this WEP/GPO law in "The Plain Writing Act" form, (a law which he endorsed) So it can be read in plain writing how they are steeling from me.

Outrageous! I worked in the private sector for years and paid in my SS. Then I bcame an MTA in the CA prison system. Now, I'm eligilble for SS and WEP hit me like a brick. 2/3 SS gone. That's just wrong! Change this now. Pay us what is ours. It doesn't belong to the government to spend others.
