Help the government stop cheating those who paid into social security before moving to California to teach in a public school. Thank you

i stayed home during my marriage to take care of my step-children. Therefore I didn't always earn SUBTANTIAL Social Security earnings. Before I retired from state government, where I had worked for eleven years, I was told by Social Security that I had paid in enough quarters that the WEP would not apply to me. It was only after I retired that the SS office told me that in fact it did apply to me. I learned about the GPO after my ex-husband died; I would get no survivor benefits even though I was married for 13 years before we divorced and I did not remarry.

My wife and I both worked at low-paying jobs until fairly late in life - since which we each have worked about 10 years since as--in public education. At best, we will have a meager retirement. Under the current WEP, we would lose about $800 of Social Security income, which most certainly would rob us of income we earned and will desperately need!

Eliminating the WEP/GPO would infuse our economy with a very substantial flow of money. This would, for the vast most part, be spent by individuals for short term purchases. It would therefore create local jobs and improve the availability of goods and services.

Please support Repeal WEP/GPO! This is so unfair for those of us that paid into SS for many, many years and then changed to a teaching career.

The WEP and GPO penalize the very people that we want as govt employees--those with experience in the private sector who can bring skills to govt. But to penalize them by withdrawing social security benefits that they have paid taxes for, especially without full disclosure of how much Soc Sec they can lose, is contrary to fair play and reasonable expectation of retirement income. It needs to be revised!

This is a horrific policy that is set up to ensure the most needy go without, just like general relief. Why is it ok to put the poor and desperate in debt for 221.00 a month if their lucky in order to "survive"? Name one place in America where someone can live on that amount of money? It doesn't exist. These are injustices to the American public when unnamed amounts of money are spent on useless agendas, wars and unknown places. If we are having all benefits removed why are we forced to pay into the system so our money can be played with at a politicians whim? If we don't have access to benefits like our unemployment after a few months must go without then although unemployed for months and be expected to survive without assistance when unemployed then don't take a penny out of our pay checks for services we don't have and are subject to lose at your discretion although it's our money and should have one rule attached to receive it back when we need them it .These are glorified insurance programs. At no point should we be subjected to such treatment concerning our own money. Id prefer not to be taxed 18 to 20 percent for services i have no access to when I need them but the our money can be used to fund wars instead of feed and educate. It's bad enough to have taxes taken from citizens paychecks to fund services for those who broke the law and entered our country illegally and give birth to multiple childen the tax payers pay for without ever repaying their burden on American citizens. Seems the American dream is alive and well, unless you're an actual citizen.

please vote to repeal the penalty from social security known as WEP/GPO that is imposed on people who have worked in public services such as bus driving, social services, mental health aids etc. please at least place conciderations on the amount of pension these lower level service workers are collecting before taking away social Security they have earned or Qualified for as a spouse. please also concider the number of years of service the person was able to serve. I was a bus driver for 12 years and suffered health issues common among drivers, and was forced to quit, my income as a senior including my social security spousal benefit will be $950.00 per month.

Under WEP my social security will be reduced by my very small Canada Pension. If I had known this I would have taken the Canada Pension 5 years ago so the amount would be less and the social security penalty would be less. It's just wrong!

I am a teacher but I have paid into social security for a full 40 units. I should get my full social security benifits and not be penalized one penny!
