Please repeal GPO/WEP . On my teaching salary there is no danger that I would receive too much money if I could also draw social security benefits when I retire.

As a teacher who contributed to social security for years in one school system and then to find that because I worked in another system (another state) my social security I paid into will be docked, well, I'm very upset. So many of my colleagues had patchwork careers, mostly because we're women. And because we're women, we also have lower wages and can't make the stringent income (per year) requirements to make this awful WEP go away. This law has a disproportionate effect on women, many of whom tried to serve their communities with honor and now we're getting shafted. Do something! Eliminate the WEP/GPO.

Worked in private sector 20 years before teaching and retiring with 22 service years, am told I would only be able to collect about 1/3 of my SS and I will lose all spousal benefits...very unfair to so many people! It is now time to undo this unjust law & do what it right!

Repeal the GPO/WeP. I served this country as an educator and am being denied full benefits because of the fact I also earned a partial teacher government pension. I NOW need the FULL Social Security benefits I worked for in my younger years, It would help me pay medical bills and buy real healthier food. I will not get rich as they claim. The money will be circulated creating more jobs in our economy. please vote REPEAL.

It's awful the government takes from retirees and elderly to pay the debts they made. Shame on them and now no cola and going to raise certain premiums. They need live on SS and have to deal with WEP/GPO like everyone else.

Congress must act immediately to repeal the WEP/GPO. I rightfully earned SS before and after my teaching career in Texas, and because of this, I have lost over $300 per month in benefits. This is outrageous especially when I was never informed that this could happen to me until it was much too late. I did not have a chance to make alternative plans. This unfair law must be changed at once!

I worked since I was 16, had my son at 19 and daughter at 26 I raised both without benefits. I worked at a caseworker for SB county for welfare, foodstamps, GR retired from that position. All the time I worked for that position I planned my retirement. I checked what amount of social security retirement I would get using the simulator on the site. Now I find out I will not get my full amount due to the WEP program. Based on my previous yrs of income my jobs were not much pay but I still worked bu here is the point that woman have been under paid for centuries even per government. That chart of qualifying quarters is the same for men or women. Now this is not just, with the wep program I will only receive 298 of 811. with my retirement of 1179. per month I am so far under federal poverty level. Do you really believe this is right???? When I got lucky enough to get the caseworker position.......I had to endure 12 weeks of schooling and get a 90% score on final test. Still working as a bartender from 6pm to 2am five nights a week and homework every night not counting on cooking cleaning and supporting two kids without child support or welfare or any benefit. Then after passing class I started working as a caseworker for one yr probation going thru every case being read and scored the stress was unbelievable. But I did it, so happy moving forward in life. But now to be kicked back down at 64 its just so unjust. I try for a job but all application can't ask age but they can ask when you graduated high doesn't take a genius to guess my age and not get called for an interview. All the time I worked as a caseworker I had to deny cases where person worked but got laid off receiving unemployment not eligible. But someone never worked just had babies out of wedlock could have it all. We are teaching the future generations to not work we give you everything and don't honor the ones who have worked. PLEASE do REPEAL this program. For at least the ones under poverty level. Maybe that can still help social security budget. And show the ones who do not work that this is the way .....work and you shall succeed in living without worries when you are old. Thank You for reading my story.

Please enact this legislation to eliminate the current provisions of the WEP AND GPO. This is a gross injustice and is causing much suffering to dedicated public employees that are now retired. Without these changes, it will discourage many qualified individuals to go into the public professions. It is past time for these laws to be changed. Bring Fairness back to Social Security. Thank you for your consideration.

We have paid for these benefits and they have nothing to do with our pensions, which we also earned and paid into. Raise the cap or figure something out to stop targeting certain careers in certain states.

It is outrageous that because you worked and contributed in two different systems at different time that the pension of SS should be diminished by half. It is absurd and outrageous. Why does nobody in congress care about it ?

Please go to www.ssfairness.com right now. They currently have a survey to be completed if you are affected by WEP/GPO. Everyone needs to let their voices be heard on this if a repeal is going to happen. This can only work in numbers. H.R. 973 and Senate Bill S 165 Repeal WEP/GPO (Windfall Elimination Provision/Government Pension Offset). This is so unfair. I will tell you what Social Security told me when I went to apply for widow's benefits "Most people are not aware of this law until they retire or their spouse passes away". So in other words you get $0 or next to nothing. If you get next to nothing meaning you will be taxed on that money and get nothing. EVERYONE needs to contact their senators and congressman and then Mr. Obama and remind him of his promise to push for this repeal during his campaign. You can do this online, write him or walk into their office. This is not an entitlement it is money you or your spouse worked hard for and sacrificed time with their families so that we could be afforded a comfortable retirement yet we are not benefiting from our money. They are using our money to provide free food, shelter, health care, money, oh an lets not forget phones to people who could but would not work like we did. There are many people suffering by this law right now and many more to come. These people are having to make a choice between shelter, heat, air conditioning, medicines, food and many more of life's necessities. They worked hard all their life and they are rewarded by WEP/GPO . We are the people who have kept this country going and by doing that we have taught our children to do the same. We must come together as a team to get this repealed. It needs to be repealed now or it will hurt many more hard working Americans. Please share this with friends and family and encourage them to contact the appropriate persons and let them know how unfair it is. Let's not put our children in the place they have to worry about us financially when they are trying to take care of their families. My husband passed 03/22/14 and I know he never dreamed that my household income would be cut by more than 1/2 monthly because of this. Before you vote your senators and congressmen and of course the president of the United States make sure you know where they stand on this issue. I don't know about you but I need my money just because my husband passed none of my bills stopped. As a matter of fact they increased with inflation, we have our own bills plus maintenance on our homes that have to be paid for. Don't let this government steal our money and put us in poverty. This is outrageous. Thank each and everyone of you for reading. Now lets get some leaders in office and get the work done. God bless you. Listed below are some sites you can research and find out more about this law: Facebook Page Social Security Fairness-Repeal the WEP/GPO National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare-www.ncpssm.org White House Confe

Unaware that I was not going to receive my full social security benefits when I retired as an educator, I am still shocked that after 32 years there are millions affected by the GPO/WEP and yet nothing has been done!! Every year we sign petitions to our politicians and congress to have these grossly unfair and discriminatory law repealed. Every year the same thing happens - a new bill is introduced, and never reaches the necessary consent to have it repealed. WHY ARE WE BEING IGNORED? HOW DOES SOCIAL SECURITY SOUND SECURE...IT IS ANYTHING BUT- PROMISES OF LONG AGO HAVE BEEN BROKEN! WHY HASN'T IT EVEN BEEN DISCUSSED BY PRESIDENTIAL CANDITATES? OBAMA DID TELL THE NEA HE WOULD SUPPORT THIS BILL BEING REPEALED BEFORE HE WAS ELECTED. WHAT HAS HAPPENED SINCE? HOW CAN WE BELIEVE ANYTHING ANYMORE...ITS WAY PAST TIME TO REPEAL THE GPO/WEP!!!!

Please, We need help in spreading the word as a moral imperative. WHY ARE WE RETIRED PUBLIC SERVANTS COMPLETELY IGNORED? THIS LAW THAT HAS MADE AMERICAS PUBLIC SERVANTS AND RETIREES THIRD CLASS CITIZENS! Before Social Security is expanded, there are some grossly unfair existing and mysterious obscure laws that must be corrected and resolved: IT'S SOCIAL INSECURITY for millions of public servants who never had the opportunity to invest in our own private annuities because we thought of Social Security was our safety net until we discovered GPO/WEP confiscated our earned and paid for SS pensions. The little I did save was lost during the crash. If you talked to those people affected by GPO/WEP, you'd be shocked and outraged because of individual extenuating circumstances. What makes me so sad is it's not just about money. It's about our long, hard working lifetimes stolen from us. We will never regain or relive those years. The GPO/WEP has created yet another group of poverty stricken American taxpayers, another minority group so to speak without any personal control, awareness. consent, or knowledge. And another thing that should not be overlooked nor forgotten is the brutal effect especially the GPO had on our surviving children at college time, resulting in mounds of student loans and credit card debt. This is why I have always maintained that our government should give LOW INTEREST OR NO INTEREST CONSOLIDATION LOANS to those of us affected by this ridiculously unfair law....in lieu of our so called "borrowed" .. That would certainly help us get back on our feet in our golden years and regain some portion of our lives that were lost as we believed in SS. . Visit us at www.ssfairness.com to educate, protect, and prepare yourselves because this obscure, 32 year old law could be affecting you without your knowledge as it did me. Join our site to receive monthly newsletters and take our national survey.. LIKE our Facebook page for important daily information, alerts , updates. THIS IS WORSE THAN ANYTHING MADOFF DID, AND HE SITS IN PRISON!! Thank you, Social Security Fairness - Repeal the GPO and WEP Repeal the Government Pension Offset & Windfall Elimination Provision to insure government worker retirement security. Help insure Social Security benefits. www.ssfairness.com
