Child support recipients provide a home and necessary items for the child, however, the non-custodial parent has to do this as well. This is impossible on a minimum wage job when child support is 1/4 of your income, give or take. Adding this to thousands of dollars in court fees paid just to be a part of the child's life is absoultely draining. *Proud Step Mom*

My brother's ex wife is an abusive mother. Not physically, but psychologically. She once told their 3 yo daughter who said, "momma, I'm hungry" to "get up and fix it yourself" My mom dropped by her house unannounced one day and the youngest had a really full diaper. So she offered to change it...when she took the diaper off she said there was more than one bowel movement in there and it was dried on her leg. It's crap like this all the time. My brother has remarried, has a stable home and life...their mother is moving and sleeping around. BUT she gets everything handed to her. So I fully support this. However I would add that they also should have psych evaluations as well.

Men are parents too. Children need and deserve both parents. This should be an unalienable right following separation not a criminal hearing where the father is assumed to be the the bad guy. Being unfit should have to be proven without a doubt prior to any repercussions in regards to being able to raise their children. Basically men should have the exact same rights as women in regards to their children. It takes two to make them it takes two to raise them. The justice system is supposed to be just and fair all were asking for is equality!! Equal treatment for both sexes should be automatic!

The problem isn't as much the support as it is the custody itself. Joint physical custody should be mandated from the start except in cases of abuse, drugs, or anything that impacts negatively the child's welfare. If that were the case, many support issues would would solve themselves. I do agree with several points though. Both parents should work. Income and bills of both parents should be included. Etc.

For years I was part of a threatening unfair system. Payments based on 40/week gross income.part of the construction trades so 40's were seldomly the norm. Heard numerous threats of jail time, while the fathers rights are always set aside. The system holds the male accountable and does nothing to protect his rights. I have a son going through the same thing now. His son just turned 1yr. He has seen him twice. Pays 91$/week out of a 200$ bring home. Tell me who can survive on that? Why doesn't the system back him and his rights like they do hers? Same court order.....yet they tell the man to get an attorney.... With what? His savings?
