I agree that the death of a child must be the worst kind of pain, even more than loosing an elderly parent. I add my support to this amendment and plan to circulate it further. FMLA should also include in-law aunts and uncle's deaths for bereavement. Sometimes in-laws are closer than biological parents. Thank you to the founders of this amendment.REPORT COMMENTS

I experienced a full-term stilbirth in 1995 and remember vivdly the feeling of many emotions. However, one of these certainly was that my husband immediately returned to work in the banking industry, leaving me to care for our two and a half year old daughter when I was hardly able physically and psychologically to care for myself. I believe without a doubt this situation contributed to the ultimate disconnect between he and I , and the ultimate demise of our marriage some 6 years later. There are a multiplicity of issues regarding pregnancy and post pregnancy loss that need to be addressed within the work place, so as to support employees. These issues are not the burden of only the family going through the circumstance, but untimately the community and world on a whole. Divorce, depression, suicide, and many other issues could be dealt with early on, and employees could and would be more productive on the job on a more timely basis. I am a member of Share Pregnancy & Infant Loss, Inc. St. Louis Missouri and fascilitate both private and group meetings for parents that have had the loss of a infant. I have been associated with this organization since 1995, and attended a seminar which is held in St. Louis to provide training for Grief Counseling. In addition I have been an active Doula for 13 years, which is a support person for a family during and before the birth process. I too attended Laura Norman School of Reflexology and am a practicing Reflexologist in Charlotte, N.C. My life has and will always be commited to helping others to lead happier. more peaceful. present lives. This would be just one more step to helping others do this!.REPORT COMMENTS

FMLA offers what employers should have been offering all along. They provided the protected time only after it was law. This would be a logical...and needed...next step. The entire family needs time to grieve together after the loss of a child. I know - I been through the nightmare of loosing a child in a horrific accident. This amendment should definitely be included in the FMLA.REPORT COMMENTS
