I lost my only child in a drowning accident 7 years ago. I can attest to the fact that the loss of a child is the worst thing that can ever happen to a parent. This experience is life changing! The depth of the grief is unimagable. It is not something you "get over" in a few days, weeks or years! It gets easier to deal with over time but it never goes away. For these reasons I strongly urge you vote "Yes" to amend the FMLA Act to include the death of a child as a reason to qualify for a FMLA leave. Thank you for your consideration.

Please approve this amendment. The death of a child is something that no one should ever have to go through. Too many parents that I know have had to go through this pain. To add to the worry of losing their job on top of everything else should not be something they have to deal with.....

I support this amendment on behalf of my sister who lost her baby daughter and would have benefited greatly from this.

As bereaved parents, my wife and I can attest to the terrible pain and grief which engulfs parents when their child dies. Our youngest son died 18 years ago. Fortunately, I was working for a company which afforded me 2 weeks of leave with pay, but I grieved deeply with terrible pain for many months. Indeed, that pain never leaves a parent; it only becomes more manageable as time passes. I had great difficulty functioning in most any aspect of life for many weeks, and my difficulties are experienced by most all bereaved parents. Based on my own experience, I strongly urge amending the FMLA to include death of a child as a protected reason to qualify for the unpaid leave afforded by the FMLA. William Luff, Berea, Ohio
