In 2002 at age 15 i was diagnosed with stage 3 endometriosis they started me on an aggressive monthly treatments of Depot Lupron as I was told that it would shrink the growth and they would be able to laser the remainder of it. When I went in for surgery the lupron actually caused the growth to triple they then put me on the 2 shots every 3 months by 17 I was begging for a hysterectomy I did go on to have a child but my endometriosis is not only worse but I have developed PCOS and at 28 am still fighting with drs to perform the surgery my quality of life has diminished I'm constantly taking work off due to pain and I feel the lupron has made my condition worse over the yearsMar 19th, 2015Someone from Burlington, NC signed.

After taking Lupron for 5 months, I have decided I will never take it again. After stopping medication my hot flashes have only gotten more severe, I wake up in the middle of the night to take pain medication for hip pain, I've broken two fingers due to bone loss, and I'm up four or five times a night with hot flashes and sweating. Not to mention the incredible mood swings. Please think seriously about natural options such as vitamins, before taking Lupron. I wish I had never taken it.REPORT COMMENTS

My sister and I both had Lupron shots - She had 6 and I had 4 in the mid 1990's. We both have thyroid problems (which does not run in our families). She has psychology problems, too. I wished I had found out more information about this drug before allowing my doctor to give it to me. We both had to have to treat endometriosis.REPORT COMMENTS

I was diagnosed with Severe Endometriosis two weeks ago. A large chocolate cyst, along with my one ovary and Fallopian tube was surgically removed. My gynecologist is recommending 6 months of Lupron to control my endometriosis in addition to prevent infertility. He said the only side effects I'll have are hot flashes and other "menopausal" symptoms that will go away once I am off of Lupron. After reading through several comments, I have decided to not use Lupron. Had it not been for this forum, I would not be aware of what severe damage this drug can cause. My heart goes out to the people that are suffering due to this atrocious drug.REPORT COMMENTS

I was given Lupron injections for two years. I am now not able to work. I have been diagnosed with Sjogerns, psoriatic arthritis, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. I have bone and muscle pain all the time. I also have terrible brain fog with anxiety and depression.. I was never told of any side effects . My doctor told me Lupron might make me feel bad at first and I would get use to it. He also said after I quit taking the injections any side effects would go away. This is no way to live. Someone needs to stop this from happening to other people.REPORT COMMENTS

I received two shots of Lupron over two months. The Lupron was not a treatment, it was merely designed to shrink my uterus prior to a fibroid-based hysterectomy. The reason was to permit a robotic surgery with a slightly shorter recovery time. I received these shots 18 months ago, and still suffer the side effects: severe arthritis pain in my hands, neuropathy in my feet, and memory loss. The Lupron side effects have been much worse than the fibroids ever were, and appear to be permanent.REPORT COMMENTS

6 Months of Lupron at age 21. I was not aware of the potential serious long term side effects. I'm now 40 and have degenerative disc disease, joint and bone pain, horrible unexplained lower back pain, bone spurs, hot flashes, constant brain fog, memory loss, depression, and more. This poisonous drug needs to be removed from the market! This is a chemotherapy drug and endometriosis is NOT cancer!REPORT COMMENTS

I was diagnosed with endometriosis at age 15. At 37 it was so unbearable I underwent a partial hysterectomy leaving only my cervix. Due to my extensive history I was informed by my surgeon I would be unable to receive any estrogen / estrogen replicated treatment. My surgeon was unable to surgically remove all the endometriosis and I was informed Lupron was my only treatment option. I am now one month away from my last injection and the side effects have been traumatic. First of all, I'd like to say the informational phamplet I was given did not mention the likeliness of several side effects I have experienced. As a matter of fact, I thought I was going crazy and terrified I was having a heart attack from stress until I Googled Lupron and discovered I was not the only one experiencing these terrifying effects that no one, not even my physician, warned me were a possibility. Severe hair loss, insomnia, numbness in my hands and fingers, chest pains, rapid heart rate, crying fits lasting for hours, vision problems, dry skin, complete lack of immune system... The list is ridiculous. What is even more appalling is that this poison was given to me without a warning of dangerous it really is. I'm seeing my PCP for an EKG in hopes it has not caused as much damage to my cardiovascular system as I think it might have. I ask that an investigation into all of these common, but not noted in literature, side effects be investigated and accurate research conducted so we are able to make informed decisions about treatment.REPORT COMMENTS

I was just told by my hematologist that I should get an injection of Lupron. I decided to research it and am so thankful that I didn't give the ok. The side effects sound horrific and some I am already suffering from so I'm sure this drug would make them worse. I am so sorry to read what other people have gone through. I pray for their recovery.REPORT COMMENTS
