I was convicted when i was 17 years old of something i didnt do. I just kept my mouth closed and got charged. Im 24 now with a kid on the way and it is so hard to get a job. Everyone looks at me as if im a outsider once they know i got a felony. Its not right and its unfair. It was a mistake. Jesus forgave men for their sins so why cant man forgive others for their sins.REPORT COMMENTS

I writing to petition congress to give felons the right to join our military. People make mistakes and I feel that if a felon has paid his debt, such as doing time in prison and/or whatever their sentence was, then their slate should be wiped cleaned and have the right to have a second chance at life. The economy is in crisis right now and it's so hard to get a job if you don't have a record. It is so much harder for a felon to find a job. I think if there was more chances to help them better themselves with furthering their education and better job opportunities, it would keep alot of felons from falling back into the same old lifestyle and re-offending. I think the US Military offers just what felons need to get their lives back on track and the education they need.REPORT COMMENTS

I am 25 and a first time convicted felon. I'm having trouble finding work....period. I know if given the opportunity I could make an outstanding soldier and productive member of society. I've been to prison, paid my debt and want to change. But it seems like the world is agains't me. I believe that felons should be given a break if they show that they really are changing their ways.REPORT COMMENTS

A person should not continue to be punished after paying their debt to society. The systems is set up to where felons cannot find work or shelter and then we wonder why they reoffend. The military might be just what a felon needs to begin rebuilding their life.REPORT COMMENTS
