Got into a bar brawl in 2008. Punched a guy who was running toward me. His friend got knocked out and end up dying from blunt force trama. I got charged with AIDING AND ABETTING TO INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER. Bc i punched a guy whos friend died, the prosecution said i aided. I was in college 3 days after turning 19. Planing on joining the USMC! Give felons like us a second chance!

Even though this is a lost cause, I'll still sign this petition. Government only has room for the felons that are already in it.

I am 27 years old, Like many others did some dumb stuff around 19-20....never went to prison or anything....have had a child thats 4 and a loving wife....Haven't even looked the wrong direction sense my younger years. I believe if a person is willing to change themselves why not let them change there life and actually show society they live in what kind of potential they have to uphold. Furthermore whats the danger in letting "us Felons " join, people with clean records who join find themselves in some kind of trouble sometimes. But the point is if we have learned from our mistakes give us the chance to set a good example and give hope to those that are trying to overcome there past and rehabilitating!...Thanks for this petition and everyone's time.

With so many people trying to do better, the military seems the best option. It will also teach them discipline and give them an opportunity to prove they can accomplish something. Being a felon is hard. Not giving them a way to do better only leads right back to crime.

What better way to make amends and get a second start than to serve your country? As a Vietnam Era Vet I gained a lot from my military experience. I think ex-felons would also benefit greatly.

I'm just another "ex-felon" that was looking for answers and feedback. And along with I discovered this. I sure as hell can't exercise my right to vote for who calls the shots in the country I was 'born' in so ill be damned if I don't vote in favor of what were all seeking here. Now if only the right persons will open their eyes and minds to all that is beneficiary in allowing felons with good intentions to join serve and give back to what we call "society". I couldn't agree more.

Let a person redeem themselves through service to our nation is a noble idea. To think that America has 5% of the worlds population and 25% of the worlds prisoners. Is a travesty beyond words.

As a former criminal who got caught, I have lost many of the rights of US citizenship. Think about what a felon is allowed to do, and you will see that even Illegal aliens and animals have more rights than felons in this country. I went to prison, I learned the true meaning of freedom as only one who has lost it can. I have changed my mindset, and would love to vote and own guns. I would just like to be able to have some pride in my name and achievements again. Give felons the right to serve, and I'll serve. For all of my fellow felons who are no longer criminals, but still must shoulder the shame of their past mistakes: just because you can not vote, does not mean that you can not use your voice and passion to influence the votes of others. I may not be able to vote, but I do have several people who are willing to vote for me, so long as they do not strongly disagree with my opinion in that matter. none of them ever voted before I asked them to :)

Just because I made one poor decision in life, it shouldn't disqualify me from serving my country.
