If someone has a felony on there record and its been atleast 5 years since they have been last in trouble they should be able to repay for there mistakes by going to a branch and it would atleast keep them, out of trouble -

Illegals sneak into OUR country and take advantage of all of our benefits, but I make one mistake, do my time, and am labeled a "felon" which means I will continue to pay for my mistake for the rest of my life. But I still cant join the military?! What a crock!REPORT COMMENTS

I hear all these people on this website saying felon this and felon that, but to me that is just a label society uses to brand criminals . I am not a criminal and I refuse to be branded as such . When I was younger I too got myself tangled up in the justice system. The mistakes I made I take sole responsibility for and I've paid my debt in full. I am now a student in college and an active member of my community and i believe strongly that our nations military should grant more waivers to those who are truly rehabilitated. I've wanted to serve since I was a boy and I don't believe my past should hinder me from the opportunity...REPORT COMMENTS

I say yes just for the juvenile felons just because they was young and they was dumb.they make mistakes everyone does nobody is perfect in life at all and over the time they learn from there mistakes and some learn hard for what they did I have a friend that wants to join the military but he can't because what he has done in his young teenage years he regrets and feels like a straight loser because of it now he's going to be 21 years old has no job because his felony is holding him back from his future and goals hes a good guy he has his dipmola he stays out of trouble it's just sad how he gets turned down all the time.hes always despressed because he can't have a life that he always wanted he would do anything to serve his country and for the people freedom he wants to be notices and honor to people not to be judge because his criminal past he is just like the rest of us there's nothing wrong with him but his decision when he was younger its going to be also 7 years since the stuff in his life happen. I know for a fact that in that 7 years that he rehiblate hisself and changed his life around and I'm saying to other ex felons or felons that got there felony when they was a teenage people do change and should aloud to join the military they where kids now they are adults and young adults they learn right from wrong they change when they step in DH and see that they don't want to be trouble makers they actually want to be something better so people can look up to be.im hoping and praying for this to get in congress and passes because we shouldn't be judging people what they did in the past when this is the present and going to the futureREPORT COMMENTS

I got convicted over 7 years ago and yet they act like I am out there doing drugs and gang banging I got my ged I graduated from kaplan college and I have been working and taking care of two beautiful kids. Yet society keeps pushing us away and they leave people with little options. I wanted to sign up to the army or marines and I was turned down.REPORT COMMENTS

There are hardly any opportunities for a felon. I made mistakes. I believe a person that has changed and has been in an environment to enhance patience, mental, and physical well being to produce the best soldier. Let felons give back to our country, and show that we are NOT animals. Besides, the way prisons are ran are based off of the military.REPORT COMMENTS

Felons are people who fell into unfortunate circumstances, not always by choice. They should not be dismissed from wanting to server in their Nations Military. Mistakes are made by all, don't punish anyone willing to potentially give up their life for our protectionREPORT COMMENTS

It is important for previous felons that have sincerely changed thier ways to be given a second chance. The military is a very hard job and if you believe in yourself and can take a lot of put downs, then the military is for you.REPORT COMMENTS

Being in the military takes discipline and is great for building strength (mentally, physically, emotionally) within someone. Felons can especially benefit from serving their country. Truly reformed felons should be given a second chance to prove themselves and better their lives.REPORT COMMENTS

there are very capable, intelligent people who have alot to offer our military who have felony records. It's a chance to benefit the felon in getting a life of discipline and structure but also giving our military for more people who actually want to be a part of our military.REPORT COMMENTS
