I just reciently been diagnosed with a degenerative spine within the last 4 years , and i have lots of other joint issues also i'm only 54 and was born 1 Lb 7oz. so i know i have alot of other undiagnosed conditions. I suffered alot with allergies all my life now severe joint issues. Taking away pain treatment is not the option. If you want to protect people . leagalize drugs. let the doctors treat patients and create drug rehab centers to treat highly addicted people. And especially leagalize Marijuana. We can make a harmless pain releaving drug without a overdose affect. And you cannot tell me oh, its not safe.! ********. I've done some digging on Government involvement in there war on how marijuana is dangerous for your health. and when you found out it was healthy , had benificial properties, antioxidents , pain releaving properties , could be used to releave epeltic seasures , and a host of other benifits you still classify it as dangerous. To who the drug cartells who make billions of the drug? We as americans should have the benifit of its uses for cancer and arthritic pain. and a whole host of other deseases. And make enough profit to pour into our schools , streets , seinor citizen care , welfare and housing , I'm talking about cheap inovative housing that is exceptional in energy , conservation and takes up a small dot on the carbon footprint so everyone in trhis country can have affordable housing. Also marijuana/hemp plant discards can be used for a whole host of other products like plastics , insulation , shoes , t-shirts , medicines , already mentioned. ther is about 100 products that can be made from marijuana/hemp there assentially different in THC but from the same plant family Oh, and why does the USA have a patent on marijuana? and we as a society should be able to grow our own. not regulated as a class drug. What about all trhe government funded study failures that say marijuana is harmful the bigesst study by that famous docyor in isreal who found THC and has studyied this drug for well over 50 years. And he still stands by all of his research that you funded him with .and he knows it's benificial to the human cabinoid ststem. our body needs this drug to function. and heal. so You think I don;t know about your coverup? Well I do . and I suggest all who read this do your own digging on the true reasurch of this drug. not the negivitive hype crap. I'm talking about the actual health benifits. the stuff thats truly gonna be a benifit if further reasurch is granted. this could be the best thing. for every one. but we should be able to grow. our own to eat the healthy benifits of the plant. in its natural state. Because i feel that since my immune sys. has been compramized I might just have to start eating this myself for health benifits. But i won't be able to find out if you stop this from happening. Like i said I've been sick all my life . this could be my breakthrough. So stop. controlling our medical choices. -

What you are doing to people is wrong. Forcing regular people to live with chronic pain is the same as torture. How many lost jobs, suicides, homelessness and other outcomes will you be responsible for? You have blood on your hands. It should be illegal what you are doing to the American public. You are DESTROYING people's lives and even ending them in some cases. These drugs were created for a reason and work very well for some people to improve their quality of life. Not everyone is an addict and even with dependence, people should have the RIGHT to choose daily dependence (which is a characteristic of many drugs) over being in pain every day. We are not your guinea pigs! And, some of us DO have sensitivities to other drugs, it is not right that we now have to be afraid to inform our doctors of that in fear of being labelled. Hydrocodone is a good drug and works well for some. I have never had addiction issues in my life and it is the only thing that works for me. I am only in my early 30's and looking at having to have home care because I'm in so much pain I can barely get out of bed most days. Hydrocodone is a miracle drug for me and I only need a small dose and it completely takes away my severe IC pain, fybromialga, and reactive arthritis pain. I have no life at all because of my pain and contimplait suicide just to end the misery. You have brainwashed and tied the hands of doctors just to push your own selfish and greedy agendas. This does nothing for the "drug addiction problem" all this does is hurt regular people that are trying to have families and work jobs.REPORT COMMENTS

I am so disgusted with the government and this creep that is the so called Surgery General dictating to our doctors and holding a threat over there heads bout no writing scripts for pain meds for suffering patients. If he was suffering like thousands of us with chronic pain, he'd sure as hell write his own scrip out,or if it be one of his loved ones, he'd not let them suffer. The drug epidemic in this country is do to the illegal drugs coming across our borders! Like this of others in chronic pain, I have never abused any drugs, legal or other wise. I'm so sick of living in pain, my options are suicide or street drugs,in that case I might as well commit suicide, cause nothing more dangerous than that. Yet York Co,Penn. Is running an syringe exchange for drug shooters!! Exchange the dirty needles for clean ones, there reason being it helps keep hep c and HIV cases down. So when they over dose the medics or cops rush in with narcam, save there life, pat them on the back, give them clean needles to go and shoot up another day! Unbelievable!!! Yet I along with thousands of decent law abiding citizens in excruciating pain cant get help! Medicine is an art as much as it is a science. If the doctor and patient find something that is working, the government has no right to tell them they can no longer uses this drug(s) based on the actions of others. They claim it is for the protection of the patient, but how does taking someone's quality of life protect them? It will only drive them to find alternative remedies in the back alleys or to permanently end the pain by suicide. Until you have suffered chronic pain you have no right in telling others how they should treat it and then you are only offering a qualified opinion. An adult should be able to make a decision about the risk verses rewards and take whatever course of treatment they choose without being criminalized or demeaned by others. Everyone should have the right to control their pain. If they are willing to accept the possible side effects, then give them access to what works for them.REPORT COMMENTS

The federal government, in deciding to stop people from becoming addicted to opioids, has chosen to make it extremely difficult for people like me, with a chronic pain condition, to continue getting the very medications that make our lives tolerable and at least worth living. I?m not sure exactly who is to blame, the CDC, DEA, FDA, or simply some do-gooder congressmen that has created these guidelines or regulations. If only our misery could be bottled in pill form and given to these people for a month to actually experience what it is like to have unmitigated burning, pounding, throbbing, stabbing, and aching pain in their joints, muscles, bones, or nerves and then the heavy fatigue that makes them feel like they are wearing a lead suit and be too stiff and in agony to move! Would they finally get it?! It is not fair to punish one group of society in an effort to improve another group that chooses to abuse the medications we need to live our lives in a productive way. Our lives literally depend on these medications to function! I need a rheumatologist who treats both my disease and the pain associated with it, just like I used to have. Now he cares more about his career being threatened than the pain his patients suffer with!REPORT COMMENTS

Draconian drug laws in TN actually sent me to JAIL. I was accosted by the DTF when I was in a fight for my life, suffering from pancreatitis caused by chronic liver blockage. To add insult to injury after years of throwing up daily due to my liver condition & severe dehydration, I ruptured a disk in my neck at C5-6 which needed spinal fusion surgery. I was on a major pain killer when needed for my liver & pancreatic pain. Fentanyl for that and in patch form frI'm my gastro Dr. However for my neck I only needed a low dose of hydrocodone. My pain Dr refused to treat me for the pancreatitis pain, however bcuz it is such a serious condition that requires hospitalization. I finished recovery from my neck & resigned from pain management for my neck. I needed a few spinal injections prior to decision to fuse. A few weeks after I quit I took a fall and had to go to hospital to make sure I hadn't displaced my bone graft in my neck. I was sent home w some prescriptions, and on rest. A family member filled those for me, as I was not in my home county and unable to drive. There was a script for hydrocodone which I didn't even know about until after I woke up from my hospital visit. They had given me hydromorphone injection in hospital for the fall, and bruised ribs. I went home after two days and about 2 months later I was hospitalized with another pancreatitis attack. While I was in my hospital bed, I was contacted by Drug task force agents in the county my family lived in, not my own. I often visited due to my son visiting his father & I had to transport him every other weekend. It seems my ex husband who is a dentist had illegally accessed my PMP and reported me as a Dr Shopper. I was told to drive to that county 2 hrs away and report for an interview & threatened with arrest if I didn't do so immediately. I was in the hospital at the time, with a PICC line in my neck as I couldn't eat or drink. Long story short, I was made a CRIMINAL because I was sick. The laws were weaponized against me to criminalize me, which they did, in order for my ex to gain custody of our child, which btw HE DID NOT! After 50k in lawyer fees and producing my medical records to fam court judge. My own state, criminalized me because I was ill. Law enforcement bullied me and threatened me with arrest while I was in ICU. The DTF in the county that did this to me, along with the dist atty in TN have all been forced to resign after other abuses came to light, but these laws are draconian and HARM people who are already dealing with devastating health issues. It's not the government's place or right to interfere or decide what treatment is best with what's available. It's certainly not a DTF agent with a 13 wk training course from community college & a few years experience on the road place to criminalize the sick. I beseech anyone reading this, to write your legislators, call, email, lobby. May no one who is sick ever suffer the insult I've had put uponREPORT COMMENTS

I was a athlete all my younger years. I played in pain but i knew the pain wasnt permanent. I fell out of a tree hunting fractured 2 vertabrae and broke ankle i hunted 3 days before gone to hospital. I can handle pain but because of accident i did permanent damage to back and at age 24 was diagnosed with fibromyalgia its debilitating. I had to go on disability because of it. When u live in chronic pain every day of your life it destroys your life. I was to the point of suicide for years cause the pain took my life away. I was sent to a pain clinic after i tried every other option. Physical therapy, chiropracters, natural meds and all the other non narcotic pain meds. I was put on opiates and i actually had a life. I was hunting again and the depression i was in was gone the thoughts of suicide were gone and i was livin a what i call a normal life compared to how i was livin. That lasted 6-8 years till i got a call april 16 2016 and was told i had to be taken of my meds. Within 5 months my life went down hill and now im back to every day suffering. The depression is bak and i can hardly do nothin. I suffer every day. My life is ruined once again cause my doctor refuses to treat me now. Not once did i ever ask for meds or increases i let the doc treat me i told her how i felt and she decided what to put me on. I never abused my meds. I took as prescribed and was just happy to have a life. I have nothin against alcohol i dont drink but look at the lives it destroyed and people ot killed and theres no medical benifit from it but yet they sell it every day. I always felt like a less of a person cause i had to b on pain meds because of a comment a pharmacist made to me one time i picked my meds up. Itcshould be against the law to deny a person meds that give them a quality of life. I know now i will never have one again. Not only do i suffer bit now my wife suffers cause i cant do things for her that a man should. I live on her dads farm and they relied on me for alot of stuff especially cutting wood so her 84 yr old dad has heat in the winter. Its a old house and has no duct work cause wood burners heat the place. I feel worth less.REPORT COMMENTS

What right does anyone have to judge another person's pain? The whole "war on pain medication" seems to be turning into an addiction of its own! It's out of control and requiring people to suffer unnecessarily. With so much focus on reducing the use of opiate pain medication, people can ignore the more problematic and symptomatic issues in our country. Criminalizing opiate users for any reason is insane! Opiate use is a medical issue and should be treated that way. Doctors should not be intimidated into allowing their patients to suffer because of the potential consequences of opiate use. Why don't we re-direct our activism toward things that might really make a difference in world (world hunger, poverty, racism, peace etc...) instead of focusing on how to deny people pain medication? It doesn't make sense.REPORT COMMENTS

I have been a pain suffer for years. I went from 115 lbs to 233 lbs in just two years as chronic pain kept me inside on the couch. I finally got approved for Gastric Bypass surgery, but I had severe complications. I have a possible rotator cuff tear, disc degeneration, arthritis in my lower back, Interstitial cystitis, migraines, torticollis / Rye Neck and compression fracture. I am allergic to many medications to begin with and after my surgery I am not able to take NSAIDs. Furthermore, because of my drastic weight gain according to my doctor I now have a fatty liver so taking Tylenol is also not really a viable option for me. I've been on gabapentin and everything in between to no avail, last winter 2015 my PCP took me off 4 medications that the pain clinic was giving me as it was no help and causing more harm than good. I've been to the emergency room several times per month with excruciating back pain, stomach pain, leg pain, several falls that can't seem to be figured out. Everyone kept telling me I was drug seeking, had drug-seeking Behavior, was Doctor shopping etcetera.. So I decided to go to a psychiatric ER to be evaluated. I told the psychiatrist that I was being accused of being a drug addict or addicted. He asked a simple question "do you have pain" to which I answered yes. He said the problem was not pain medication, not addiction, not being an addict, but being under treated with short-acting pain medications. I told him to give me the medication that they would give someone coming off pain medications. He said to appease anyone that felt that I was an addict he would put in my record that I was seeking help so that the county would pay for me to go to the methadone clinic. He stated that methadone was great for controlling pain and basically I could kill two birds with one stone. Make everyone stop calling me an addict, appear that I'm getting help but in all actuality I was getting pain medication. Now if I was truly a drug seeker or addict, I would have been at the methadone clinic getting the pain medicine, but I am a mother and I was not about to take my child to the methadone clinic daily nor was I about to allow myself to have that stigma attached to me which is sad that anyone has to think that way! Now I am red flagged and pretty much every system in Pennsylvania and probably throughout the United States. My PCP does not prescribe pain medication and always lectures me about the harm of addiction. Well he did not disclose when I started with his pratice that he was a doctor that went to clinics to help drug addicts. That upset me and the fact he was talking to my husband behind my back about my "drug seeking behavior". A few times in the ER bc they were told no opiates for me they tried ketamine. It worked well, but now they are trying to stop that medication even though there are so many groups saying this medicine can save lives and better lives. This one medication could take me off of opiates, benzodiazepines,REPORT COMMENTS

One of my husband's issues is a bad heart and high blood pressure and when his pain shoots up, so does his blood pressure. If he dies from a heart attack after he's forced to get off his pain meds, I'm going to be looking for answers from his doctors and legislators that have contributed to his suffering.REPORT COMMENTS
