The unelected federal agency, DEA, is not licensed to practice medicine. Also find it odd that vaccines are administered in the pharmacies with no physician on duty. I thought the AMA was a powerful organization so why aren't they putting a stop to federal agents telling doctors how to practice medicine? -

Granted that there are real cases of abusing medications but to cut patient's, with chronic pain, real pain, medications off is cruel. To leave them guessing what what the future will hold for them is torture. To leave them wondering when the medications, that provide quality of life for them, will be cut off, and sending them back into extreme pain, and they know pain in ways that they wouldn't wish upon their worst enemies, is cruel. Sometime ago it was said that a person with chronic pain will not become addicted in that the medication addresses the pain and there is no high . The only high, if you can call it that, is the relief as the pain lifts. Only now, they have hanging over their head that they will not be so lucky next week or the next, because they may be an addict, addicted to the one thing that gives some hope? Is torture. To demonize a person in chronic pain is cruel and should outrage anyone with any sense of compassion and common sense. There is no lack of compassion for those who have no respect for anyone, for life itself, and who should be held responsible. The same people who demonize those with chronic pain. They have little compassion for the ones who deserve our compassion. They reserve their compassion and empathy for the ones who are the ones who are responsible for what chronic pain sufferers are now being held punished for and labeled as. To take away the medications that provide relief and quality of life is a death sentence in many instances. Take away a person's quality of life and you kill the soul. To demonize a person with chronic pain for the very thing that gives them back any quality of life can only be described as evil. No one knows what the future holds for them and very well may wind up in the same situation as those people suffering with chronic pain. And who are being demonized for what is beyond their control. That which can only be described as cruel and unusual punishment for those who live with chronic and debilitating pain. The kind of pain that a person wouldn't wish upon their worst enemy. The kind if pain that has to experienced to be understood. Only then will it be understood that it cruel to punish anyone with chronic pain and demonize them for what provides them with some quality of life, autonomy and sense of purpose. Without that, it is a matter of only existing with excruciating pain that slowly destroys the soul. There is no pursuit of life, liberty and happiness when the one thing that relieves chronic, debilitating pain is taken away. To punish and demonize anyone with chronic pain should be unacceptable to anyone possessing an ounce of intellectual honesty and critical thought.REPORT COMMENTS

There is one way all of us can band together and fight back...but first you need to realize something. The DEA is one of the biggest street legal drug pushers and distributors in this country. The reason they're doing this is because they don't want competition from the doctors. Anyways, there is a way we can get through to the medical establishment...we need to play on their level and by that I mean we need to SUE. I had a friend who had two serious pain issues and the pain was treated successfully for many years and she left a very productive life and then all of a sudden all these doctors didn't want nothing to do with her and they started calling her an addict and they started telling her she needed to go through rehab and so what if she do she internalizes that and labels herself an addict goes to rehab and yes she's off the drugs but she's living a miserable and painful existence. One of the good doctor's heard about this and helped her find a lawyer who would take her case and she was able to sue because of this simple concept: pain is considered by the medical establishment to be the 5th vital sign (the other "vital signs" are: temperature, pulse (aka heart rate) respiratory rate and blood pressure). Consider this example: say as a patient you go into the emergency room and the nurse takes your Vital Signs and discovers you have a heart rate of 130 and your blood pressure is 200 over 130... these are definitely abnormal Vital Signs and therefore legally must be addressed and treated by the physician. Now say the physician did not treat your high heart rate and high blood pressure and let's say you end up having a stroke because your blood pressure and heart rate were not treated... well that's NEGLIGENCE and that doctor can be sued...it has happenned plenty. Now continuing with this example let's say you also tell the ER doctor your pain is a level 10 out of 10 and they do not medicate you and you go on to suffer and it affects your life in some way, since pain is considered a Vital sign the doctor MUST address it...and if they do not treat your pain they are being negligent and they can be sued. We just have to find a lawyer who's willing to take a group of us and go after these bastards.REPORT COMMENTS

This petition is close to 5 years old, no one is listening. Government doesn't care. They think the best way to stop overdose is to hold doctors accountable. More backwards thinking from Washington bureaucrats. I have been on pain medication for 16 years and never abused it. Now I and others pay the price for those who want to get high and end up killing themselves. You know the old saying " I'm from the government and I'm here to help ".REPORT COMMENTS

I have been in pain for 48 years, since the age of only 13 years of age. I was "blown" off by doctors.Today I do have proof that an undiagnosed whiplash could have occurred as a result of a tailbone fraction in a huge fall at a neighbor's back yard. They moved. I'm from southern California and I've had migraines, neck and shoulder as well as thorasic damage, lumbar and permanent damage to my coccyx thar sticks out. In plain English, it currently looks like I have a multiple degenerative head, neck shoulder, thorasic, lumbar disorder that goes down to the bent and twisted toes on my feet which need surgical correction so I can stand. My feet cramp up as well as my ankles swell when sitting in an upright position. My fingers are always swollen and cramp up so I can't use a fork, my wrists swell from the Motion of using a knife and fork (carpel tunnel). The fatigue is so severe I'm glued to my couch and can't get up to use the restroom, so I "hold it" as long as I possibly can. I was an physically active young girl, always helping those in need since my family background waa in law enforcement. I wanted to be a good officer in my city and give to my community. I was a Camp Fire Girl from age 6-18 years of age, I helped in school activities, always ar my church helping others even though a neighbor's faulty tree swing injured me, I was told I would be fine in two weeks but I was never the same. I have finally, finally found proof how bad my spine truly is because I've been misdiagnosed for so many other things and given drugs I didn't need. I now have proof of exactly how much pain I'm truly in, and doctors are closing their doors to prescribing legitimate C2 drugs because they fear the dea. Ironically, I have many years of professional experience as someone licensed in the field of Pharmacy. I've seen how the dea works and for some strange reason, they keep overstepping their ground year by year farther back to the early 1970's. What's going on here? My great, great grandfathers as well as my father fought for my legal rights as a citizen of the United States of America. This should give me the right to a legitimate prescription for pain medication if tests show my body is indeed in pain. Yet, I'm undermedicated. That's the same as not obtaining pain medication at all. Three years ago I had a doctor who prescribed medications which actually helped me but he no longer does this. I have had doctors tell me they can't practice proper medical care in the United States but they could if they lived in Canada. Canida? Do I have to move there in order to live what's left of my life pain free if I so choose? (What about the right's of the minor child who couldn't receive proper care that she had to take Excedrin in order to get through High school, the legal beagle life she led in constant pain, believing the doctor was right? A different topic for another day ). The bottom line is that I can't work though if I wasn't in pain I'd be a great counseREPORT COMMENTS

How do we band together? I am in! It took me 3 years before I would ask a doctor for pain medication as I was an RN and knew I would be called a drug seeker. Finally, after seeing me unable to perform any daily functions by myself a friend documented a months worth of my life and took me and that to a doctor or started treating my pain. That was over 15 years ago and I have finally gotten my life back after many years of pain medication doses that were increased. Then last year they changed my hydrocodone and reduced it as it was being abused all over the country by the same addicts that will still have their drugs long after my pain is irretractable again. And to add insult to injury, my opiates are now being reduced to near nothing, and again the addicts will still be getting high as if nothing has changed for them but those of us who have legitimate need for the opiates will be denied put in pain and many of us will give up and die as the pain is not worth it. I was a nurse and my discs will still be degenerating and the pain increasing but they will have won the war on drugs with the wrong people. Good job DEA. Are you doctors? Have you ever been in such severe pain that you cannot do daily activities without help and still wish you were dead? Have you ever had to get sleep by passing out from pain but you continue to scream in your sleep? Wow, your are acting like a bully to the patients and the Doctors who have done their job right. Even scarier to think that you will use whatever information you find here to attack the Doctors even more. Hope you need pain medication and be told, "sorry you can only have advil of Tylenol"REPORT COMMENTS

So..Now the DEA is going to BAN KRATOM across this country by the end of September!?!? A NATURAL PLANT THAT HAS HELPED THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE!?!! This NATURAL PLANT has been a lifeline to LEGITIMATE chronic intractable pain sufferers who were abandoned by the medical community, who have had thier meds lowered to INEFFECTIVE DOSES or ABRUPLTY STOPPED, who were left with two options the streets for relief or SUICIDE, and then there was Kratom, a NATURAL PLANT that helps to relieve severe pain, anxiety, depression, ptsd, and so much more. Kratom has given thousands of addicts their life back as well, in fact many swear by it that kratom saved thier lives, and now you corrupt lawmakers want to come in and put a nationwide ban on a NATURAL'PLANT!?!? Why are you taking away our rights to choose what goes in our bodies!? Although Kratom did not work for me, perhaps it was a bad batch, tens of thousands swear by its medicinal qualities, and you terrorists are going to take the lifeline away for thousands and thousands of innocent law abiding citizens!?!? Big Pharma can't make money off those who use kratom right!? Less and less addicts are hitting detox ctrs amd instead turning to kratom, chronic pain pts. who are being FORCED to endure PAIN AND SUFFERING AT THE HANDS OF THE GOVERNMENT are turning to kratom in the hopes it will ease thier suffering. By banning kratom, you are going to create a much much bigger crisis, the suicide rates will skyrocket as well as the heroin od deathrate, It's already happening as more and more LEGITIMATE pain pts are being DENIED LIFESAVING PAIN MEDICATION!
