Look up side effects of antidepressants, Epideral steroid injections, failed back surgeries performed, please read adhesive arachnoiditis, the Briton report. All harm caused by, insurance companies, the government, medical providers who need offer patients suffering in pain some type of treatment. These things done to human beings has been a cause of more pain, and more need for trying to help those who are suffering. These treatments started the increase in opioid medications as there are no other treatments for pain for these medical conditions. What year did failed back fusions begin? Look up what really caused the beginning of more pain. If this will even be published. Please educate yourself before being harmed by Epideral steroid injections. It is one of two causes of adhesive arachnoiditis. This is a sentence of a...life? Of pain...caused by providers made to order the injections by insurance companies that have guidlines to follow from the US government. There are more harmful effects of alternative treatments such as, electronic stimulators placed in the dura of spinal cords. These wires placed in spinal cords can never be removed. What will happen to people who suffer from horrendous chronic pain? Already Bedbound. Will the nursing homes in the US become filled with pain patients? What will happen to their families? The children who need their parents? Please there are always ALWAYS more than one side to every issue! Please listen to your American people who never asked to be in pain and only treatment option now taken? Why? How many people do die from opioid overdose? What year? Was it because of No help for the pain they could not survive and took their lives? I am sure if anyone cares, these things can all be proven. What was the powder substance shown on national news? I've never seen any thing such as that! People suffering from pain Are not addicts. Never tried heroin! Don't drink. Since being referred to pain management by the surgeon who performed a failed fusion on me, I've always had to comply with very strict rules! Random UAs, counting medications. I've never met a provider that would let me write my own prescibe pain medication. Patients bill of rights? Civil rights? The right to live?REPORT COMMENTS

Labor Day . Twitter . I call Obama the N-word , Why ? Because , if you violate someone by calling them a name they feel offended , you violate some ones rights to respect they get offended . Now , my human rights are being violated , I am being called a name and that's okay ? To be called a drug addict because of a medical condition , to be denied medical intervention as I am forced to have mandatory health care ? The war on drugs was started about a hundred years ago by a racist Pennsylvania Politian who did not like black people and had nothing to do with the safety of anyone it was just an agenda like Hitler , he pulled it off . Don't brag how you save drug addicts lives because if the drugs where legal the drugs would be safer and regulated by pharmacist's . The cara act with Obama care are just new rules for war on drugs . War has no rules . The united nation even declared our human rights are being violated . It is time to end this ugly race fueled war against drugs . This war violates not only my health care but my FREEDOM as A UNITED STATES CITEZEN . You have no right to determine my health care treatment you are not doctors and your only interest is control of people . The Philippine gov at least kill sick people to put them out of misery here you just make us suffer ? Both wrong as with the war on drugs . You cannot regulate that witch is illegal , just like alcohol you only make crime hurt people and waste money . I support leap , law enforcement against prohibition and the drug policy alliance . look them up and learn . By the way twitter closed my account but I still suffer ? HUMAN RIGHTS ?REPORT COMMENTS

It's bad enough that there is not a single physician that specializes in my condition (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome), in the state of Florida. Imagine a patient with severe congestive heart failure, and not one cardiologist to be had in the entire state. That would be unthinkable. Yet that's what hundreds of us, thousands in fact, face on a daily basis. But to add insult to injury, to not be able to get the proper medication to at least help ease this relentless, dibilitating, crippling pain...day after day. Year after agonizing year. Simply put, it's cruel and in its own right, torture. I've lost my job, my career. I've spent my entire life's savings on physicians, tests, medications and procedures...and I have nothing "positive" to show for it. My vehicle will most likely be next to go and my dream of ever owning my own home after 47 years, is truly just a dream now. There is so much more... Yet, if my pain levels had been taken seriously, if they had been addressed, then this could have had a very 'different' ending. It wouldn't have had to end at all...REPORT COMMENTS

I too am a "chronic pain patient" I've been on the same dosage for YEARS of OxyContin long acting & oxycodone for breakthrough pain. I went through every medication & treatment plan for a very long time before finally finding something that worked & helps me greatly. I also began trying Marijuana eatables, oils, topical rubs, because after doing a lot of research & finding that they can help many health issues. All of a sudden with NO warning, ALL of the pain clinics I go to were shut down, due to deaths of patients who were "over prescribed". Because of this, 25,000 pain patients were left to fen for ourselves & try to find another provider. As you can imagine, this caused a HUGE ripple effect & nobody knows what to do to help all the legit people who are actually doing what they are supposed to and actually have pain & not just out to get high. I have run into brick walls EVERYWHERE I turn, nobody wants to except pain patients, they're scared, which leaves thousands just to suffer. They have not come up with ANYTHING to help us. Hospital ERs are getting bombarded with these people who have nowhere to turn. In my opinion, this situation is a perfect time for all the Drs to just turn their backs & not help, a way of ending all narcotic pain meds, the same ones that they got all these people started on. It's a extremely cruel & heartless thing to do, I could have sworn that Drs were supposed to help & care about their patients well being. So they cut people off, but then what? They act like EVERY person is a drug addict just trying to get high, which is totally wrong, just another case of putting everyone in the same category. Which is so very unfair. I could go on & on about how messed up & cruel this all is, but Ive got to get back to what's turned into my full time job, trying to find a provider, SOMEBODY that will help. This situation is only going to get worse, much worse. Just watch the suicides, because people can't take the pain, heroin use & ODs, ERs flooded etc etc. as all these Drs who started everyone on these meds sit back & do absolutely NOTHING. This a very serious situation, life or death. Things need to drastically change and someone HAS TO help these thousands of people who were just left hangin, with NO resources or help. God bless us all, this is only going to get worse :.(REPORT COMMENTS

A CVS pharmacist informed me today that they will no longer fill my prescriptions. Upon inquiring as to the reason and by what authority, he replied that the decision is solely based on the pharmacist's comfort level ~ if he is "uncomfortable" he can choose to deny life-sustaining medications to any customer that presents a legitimate rx, prescribed legally, to a person who has been getting those same medications at the same location for years! THEN, I took the RX to a local Rite-Aid and was informed that Rite-Aid Corporation made a unilateral decision to stop filling a local Pain Specialist's prescriptions at ANY of their locations! These are medications that I have taken for years, without abusing them, or the pharmacy system. The situation is unbearable! Why is the US the only country in the (developed?) world that dismisses chronic, intractable pain? My pain is not caused by a terminal illness, but it is no less pain! In fact, the number one cause of death among chronic pain patients is suicide! Under-treatment of pain and the mistreatment of chronic pain patients is the real crime here.REPORT COMMENTS

I've been being treated by the same Harvard educated, highly-respected sports/spine medical doctor for more than 12 years. I've been using the same Rite Aid pharmacy for at least 7 of those years. 12 years ago I started out taking 80 MG OxyContin ER 3x daily with 180 tablets of 10/325MG Percocet each month. I was never questioned by pharmacists or even my insurance. They just filled it and I got on with it. I even used my insurance mail order service and received my prescriptions in 3 month supplies via post. It's been a long road with physic therapy, surgeries and life changes, but never ever have I ever lost a prescription, shown signs of abuse, taken more than prescribed or tried to buy illegal drugs. I am not a drug addict. And now, 12 years later, I am taking OxyContin 10 MG 2x daily, down from 15 MG 2x daily, which required a lengthy prior authorization committee review from my insurance company (! for taking a LOWER DOSE?!) which delayed my getting rx by four days, putting me into a immobilizing state of withdrawal, keeping me away from work and from taking care of my young child. And now that I've developed an acetametaphin intolerance after 12 years, (causing rashes, hives and is getting worse over this past year) my same doctor has switched me from Percocet 10/325 (10 mg oxycodone, 325 mg acetametaphin) to 5 MG tablets of oxycodone (180 tablets, as he's actually lowering my dose from 10 MG to 5 MG), and my regular pharmacy refused to fill this new rx. I took it to the pharmacy in the medical building where my doctors office is and the pharmacist there not only refused to fill it, she very loudly told me from some distance behind the counter so that everyone in the waiting room could hear, and humiliating me with accusatory tone, that "We don't fill narcotic prescriptions from people coming in off the street." Where else are we supposed to come from? I asked, quietly, if she'd call my doctor upstairs who had many patients that use the pharmacy. She said, again very loudly so,the entire waiting room could hear - and my young daughter - that she won't fill narcotic pain medicine (and then got very accusatory, as if I was a criminal trying to pass on a fake rx) and that I shouldn't try to walk in to just any pharmacy with a prescription for that kind of pain medicine, and that I should try my usual pharmacy (who won't fill it!) or that I'd have to transfer ALL my other prescriptions to her pharmacy, become a regular customer, and then she MIGHT be able to order "NARCOTIC PAIN MEDICINE for you!" No thanks! She made me feel like a criminal. I was humiliated and in tears and couldn't explain to my five-year-old why I was so upset. I've never had a drug problem. I am not a drug addict. I've never even broken the law. I have a legitimate, well-documented need for pain medication and I've been working hard on physical therapy for, years, slowly and steadily working my way down in dosage and it seems the less medication I need and the lower thREPORT COMMENTS

Heh try getting it for short term temporary pain control?!?! I had a bad back issue, sciatica, starting on 8/14/16. Within a few days my ER prescribed percocet ran out. My primary care physician wouldn't prescribe anything to help me, the first spinal specialist wouldn't, the second spinal specialist wouldn't ... they had X-rays, and an MRI showing TWO bulging lumbar discs with one pressing directly on my sciatic nerve!!!! Even told me PT would be a waste of time because I'm in too much pain and discomfort!!!!! ... once again this is life under the soft tyranny of the government where policy and actions are dictated by the lowest common denominator in our society, and it's legitimate citizens that suffer. I can't stand for more than 10 minutes at a time! My life is non-existent while I'm suffering from this and going on one month and across 3 doctors, the only time so actually received treatment for pain was in the ER!! Thank you DEA! I'm 45 and I've never used an illegal drug in my life! Never smoked pot either. Never been convicted of a felony, even a misdemeanor! Served in the Army. Yet I can't get pain meds to treat my very serious pain. We are letting the actions of drug users and addicts shape policy on how we treat the deserving!?!? Going forward I will vote for any politician for legalizing drugs and defunding the DEA! Soft tyranny of the government is now creeping into medicine too. Something needs to be done.REPORT COMMENTS

No doubt the task before conscientious law makers & doctors alike is fraught with a malignancy that has lingered too long. But alas one cannot facilitate, with one broad stroke of a pen or one fell swoop of an edict an indictment of all pain patients to a life of agony.Thru inept & unethical practices of a few, the many must now suffer the consequences of a failed war on drugs. The latter which has been ongoing for so many decades. to say that it has failed miserably is of no regard to those suffering but to bring safety & reliance for those of us that prescribe to the standard of living we strive for, especially one that is expected of all citizens, equally. But a contentious aroma has arisen in the offices of bureaucrats & doctors alike to stamp out the beneficial care that has been provided by pain doctors since the early 1990's. Due in effect to no lesser degree, a irresponsibility has been put into effect thus rendering the casual relationship between doctor & patient an intrusive remedy. One that serves only the agency that has sought to lessen it's failure. For good, honest, daily suffering people are now put upon for the sake of statistics of a few thousand meandering fools whose own lives 'they themselves' took for granted. A serious second look must be taken by those in power, who no doubt having money & influence, can purchase the ease of suffering themselves. But in due course, it is their inherent weakness of a governing fortitude that undermines the very foundations of pallative care itself, and that is indeed a pity. Society must be ruled & judged on a personal scale not a broad brush stroke of some failed agency's pen. To cause fear & intimidation to both registered pharmacist & physicians alike, in nothing less than sheer agenda of political reactionaries. Especially laughable is the fight against alternative pain relief remedies that so easily answers the problem. But alas these also endangers the profits of big Pharma agents & provocatuers alike. Is there no lobbyist for the common pain patient? Until surepiticous suicides climb or violent acts arise due to the inability of intractable pain patients to get adequate care, I'm afraid there will be no answer. Surely anyone who does not suffer like us could really care less. Because a new age is upon us of political correctness & answerability as our country now rests upon profit margins over the welfare of its citizenry. Why allow a $10 month pain prescription when doctors can charge thousands to insurance for repeticious injections that cause more harm than good for the chronically ill. Very clever agenda to circumnavigate the responibility of the Hippocratic Oath. But thats too often the true price & picture of a democracy isn't it?.REPORT COMMENTS
