I am allergic to NSAIDs, bad reaction to Neurontin and I will never allow another doctor to experiment on me with anti depressants. I have chronic post surgical pain 6 years. Back pain from a major car accident 3 months after my chest surgery. This is 6 years. Tendonitis from Levaquin I took in 2001, and my pain is severe now 15 years. I recently asked for pain medication. A nurse practitioner had mercy on me and gave me a fentanyl patch. I had no idea really how bad I was suffering until I was out of pain. Doctor refused any pain meds. Told me to get acupuncture. I told him, that's funny, if it worked so well why don't you do it in your office. Doctors are lying to their patients about alternative treatment and frankly IMHO, none of it works. So, here I am thinking about final arrangements because I can't take it anymore. Every second of my existence is miserable. I have no hope for treatment in anyway. I am worse of due to my allergies than most people and I am just fine with death. I've had rheumatoid arthritis for 9 years now and have used opioids for pain control. When I moved to CA, my new rheumatologist changed and reduced the opioids I am allowed. Due to him caring more about his career being damaged than my care, I am in constant pain, my disease has changed from moderate to severe, and my life is no longer tolerable because I can't live a productive life of any type. I am a long term chronic pain sufferer. All the way from high school football, to the Army, 20 years of building houses and more. I still work every day to provide for my family. I am no longer doing hard labor, but am not at a desk job either. I have 4 discs in my neck documented to be either compressed or ruptured. Lower back issues, bad knees, and now found out I have severe carple tunnel. Yet the first time I get sent to a pain management Dr he acts like I'm some druggie just seeking drugs. They are rude, spend mere minutes with me at each appointment, never caring that the minimal amount of medications they did give me don't really help. Oh, I can go to work and manage to make it through a shift, but I have no other life beyond that due to pain. Not to be graphic, but I haven't even been able the BE with my wife in nearly a year due to the pain. Nobody cares because there ARE a bunch of abusers out there.REPORT COMMENTS

However, shortly after moving to CA and going to my new rheumatologist, he will only treat the disease and not the pain! My daughter also suffers from Trigeminal neuralgia she's had thermal rizotomy which left her with numbness on her left side of her face she is in constant pain cannot go to college due to her pain being so excruciating electrical shocks in her face. I moved back to Florida and due to the fear of drs treating chronic pain I now am unable to walk or do anything for myself because the pain is beyond unbearable! The drs don't care if we're suffering from chronic pain and we're treated like drug addicts and/or drug seekers if we ask for something to help our pain! I have been almost suicidal because of the unbearable pain, but thank God for being a fighter! I started to go to a lovely hospital . I have a wonderful neurologist that have been treating me for a long time. Recently , I met a PCP. We spend together an hour and 45 min. The first time she made me describe my history of illness . Then asked to read the opioids contract. Generally , we are given the contract home to read and bring back at follow up appointment . But she read what she could , then I told her I promised my son to leave for his appointment . Can I come back asap , she had an opening the day after. She finished The contract, then I signed it . No mention of meeting a psychiatrist . At the end as i was leaving a lady came , and said I will make an appointment with the pain clinic , and part of a program as a whole , we involve the psychiatrist . Then I got an email stating that I should call him. When I when to my PCP, to get my pain meds opids, I have 8 diagnosis, she refused, asks me to go to the chronic pain manegement clinic , they assesd me and agreed that my case is severe. But said we will not give the meds , go get it from your PCP. I know you don't want people to abuse opids , but I know it's been 4 days that this doctor, that have not sat wit me or explained to me why. Can not deny me my meds as a way of punishment . My husband has been in severe chronic pain for several years. Had two neck fusions, multiple back surgeries, an implanted ultrasonic stimulator. Despite this along with daily Opana, Gabapentin, oxycotin it barely dulls his intense pain. His pain doctor refuses to increase or adjust his medications or doseage; and attempts to transfer to a different pain doctor so far have been declined. It is completely inhumane and wrong to punish the truly suffering and needy patients for the actions of the crooked, self destructive criminals who abuse these medications.REPORT COMMENTS

The DEA is literally killing people and Causing a drug epidemic with people who can't get their proscribed medications legally for their chronic pain choosing Heroine and Fentanyl street version and killing themselves accidentally! This is sickening! I've been in pain for 10 years after a 25 foot roof fall and now the DEA has******down my last 2 Doctors who were following all the rules and then some! We are drug tested always! Our pills are counted! I had to do a urine test with the Doctor standing behind me To make sure you are not altering the test in any way! It's sick And horrible and now after being on the meds for 10 years I'm out in the cold sick, in bed, in horrific pain and didn't do a friggin thing wrong to deserve it! They should be held accountable and put In jail for what they are doing to these legitimate doctors! They close real doctors Right along with the crooks! My life is over I am Broke, can't work and will be evicted from my apartment soon because I cannot possible work with the severe pain and sickness! My BP is 195/110 and emergency rooms give you 5mg percocets and send you home Empty! This is the worst epidemic never Mind the drug addicts we are the ones screwed the legitimate pain patients! My pain is so severe that I cannot get up to get my coffee, much less do any housework or yardwork, walk my lovely dog or do anything to enjoy life. I have fibromyalgia and degenerative disc disease in neck and lumbar. I have been taking the lowest dose of pain medication just on the days I needed to be productive. This prescription was for a bad spell of lumbago a few years ago. I did not need to continue them at that time. My current doctor fired my when I told him I had been taking them and how I had been taking them. I also showed positive for ANA, anti-nuclear antibodies. The doctor refused to see me to discuss this test, although he did leave a voice mail, but no return number. My pain is so severe that I have twice comtemplated suicide rather than live in this pain. I cry from the pain on a lot of days and live in despair wondering if this is what the rest of my life will be like. The low dose, 5 mg, pain medication I was taking relieved my pain enough to do my house and yard, and be free from this horrible pain for a few hours. But the doctor was concerned about abuse and addiction. I have been prescribed NSAIDs for years and generic cimbalta for years, neither of which help at all now. Well, I would be worse without them, however it is frightening to think there could be worse than this. I feel like my life is a torture chamber, squeezing and pinching every part of me. Due to this (sarcasm) wonderful HMO, I could not get an appointment with another physician for 6 weeks. That is coming up this Tuesday, but I am horribly afraid that he, too, will not hear me due to these new regulaions. I wonder how long I can suffer this pain and isolation before I have a total mental breakdown.REPORT COMMENTS

Been on pain meds 16years and having DTS is not fun besides the Cronic pain I'm in I'm on a blood thinner and can not go to pain clinic. All they do is shoot needles in you for the money. I am also a chronic pain patient although you cannot see my pain I live with it everyday since 2002 I lost my hand in a machine and it was my dominant hand since then I have had to get used to my left hand and I have overdid it because I am only by myself now for the DEA to all the sudden become doctors and try to tell me how to live my life because that's what I'm getting out of it is wrong!! I have now pretty much become a recluse I do not go to family functions cannot even be around people because of my pain and I don't want to sound like I'm constantly complaining of my pain so I just pretty much stay at home because doctors are refusing to give pain medication because of the threat of the DEA as I said this is my life nobody else's I should be able to live my life until I die and pain free the Percocet that I have been giving the 10 325 have helped me tremendously I was able to function and have fun with my family I also have a friend that was shut off completely after years of having methadone and Xanax given to him and he has completely shut himself off pretty much from everything!! He also has had a heart attack since and they will not do surgery on his neck until he has a stress test but it has been over a year since anybody has done anything about it!! I hope that this gets heard and not just slid through the red tape people at our age I am 57 will be 58 and December would like to be able to live a normal life my medication Percocet is not a hallucinogenic drug it does not make me see things that is not there the only thing that it helps me with ease my pain it is not interfere with anything else so please take this all into consideration these are not street drugs and less there are delinquent adults out there abusing them by snorting them let's just say the DEA needs to start looking on the streets where it really is going on get up off their asses stop threatening the doctors the DEA did not pay for their license to become a doctor the DEA does not have a license to practice to be a doctor they need to mind their business!!!REPORT COMMENTS

I am dependant on my narcotic pain med oxycodone, not addicted. I don't take it just to take, but I do take it when my pain is bad. I've been on pain meds for 15 years. I never asked for more or for a stronger med until I was on hydrocodone for 10 years. FOR TEN YEARS. I'd finally had enough of being in pain when it wasn't necessary and asked for something stronger. I was prescribed oxycodone. So now I'm being labeled by a government agency who's telling my doctor how to treat me. There's not even a word to describe how ridiculous that is.
