So blessed to have an amazing doctor who worries about his patients more than the DEA.

If this were their own family with cancer they would have no problem prescribing these meds to them!!RSD/CRPS has a higher rating than many diseases including phantom limb pain from amputations!!

This is out of hand. Doctor's swore to the Hippocratic Oath: "To heal thy patient"... always. Doctor's are so afraid of loosing their jobs that they are retracting on a large scale. The liability should fall on the patient not the Doctor and way for false claim patients involving pain issues, I believe. Let's get on this Americans and Facebook friends!!! Spread the word. How would you feel if you live with debilitating pain? If we can't trust and go to our doctors, then were can we go? A big part of the system is crumbling due to discrepancy.

In the month of November I had my "pain meds delayed on refill day via work comp. No reason for my pharmacy! Found out my, WISE, PA @ a Pain MGT clinic, had changed, w/o notice to me - my once safely used pain medication of over 2.4 yrs!? Not only did he not tell me of the change, he did not tell me of possible side effects. Well, forgetting that I am truly "med sensitive" - It threw my broken body into a near death meltdown. Truth that is all I can say! Marge

Ours is the saddest of health care systems in the world. I have seen the agony patients suffer who have legitimate pain. When will America stop the insanity. Pain is the fifth vital sign and Doctors are not appropriately treating it in many justified situations. Maybe the DEA should hire persons to go out and do random pill counts on those prescribed, then the dealers and dopeheads might be singled out and not the true sufferers of pain. I support DEA doing random pill counts and drug screens on all who prescribed narcotic analgesics not punishment to the innocent while the guilty continue their habits.

I have Psuedotumor Cerebri also known as IIH, my neurologist refuses to prescribe pain medicine, even thought it works for the severe eye and head pain. This condition is very painful because of the increased fluid on my brain, yet I've been left to suffer. its inhumane and an animal wouldn't be left is suck proven pain, and certainly no human should be either!!!

I've suffered for 12 years from chronic pain related to mastectomy/reconstructive surgery, osteoporosis, degenerative disc disease, fractured disc, compression fracture of 3 discs which are compressing my spinal cord, arthritis, etc. I cannot work - have no insurance which makes obtaining meds even more difficult. Am sick and tired of being treated like I'm an addict just because pain meds help me to function and keep me from being bedridden and curled up in a ball, wishing for an end to my suffering. Treating doctors like drug kingpins and patients like common criminals is disgusting at best. You are harming the very people that truly need help, while crucifying those who are the only ones that can help us. Please end your 'war' on patients...you are destroying the lives of hundreds of thousands of people who live with horrific pain and we are sick of being treated like criminals.

I live in fear of the day my current doctor retires which is rapidly approaching. I can only pray that his successor wiil continue to treat my intractable and eternal pain from a brachial plexus avulsion spinal injury. I've been thrown out of the pain clinic for marijuana positive drug test. The pain clinic tested me previous to the drug test and verified my pain as real and legitiimate and treated me for 14 months. Then they sentenced me to torture because I used marijuana to help me sleep. I found a doctor who believes my pain is real and treats me with the opiates that negate the pain.He does not care that I also employ cannabis and would precribe it if Illinois law allowed it. I LIVE IN FEAR EVERY DAY. A doctor will gladly sentence me to a life of torture to stay in good graces with DEA. First do no harm, yeah right! I LIVE IN FEAR EVERY DAY. Michael King

I have degenerative joint disease. That required fusing of my spine from t-3 down. I also have chronic R hip bursitis from leg length discreptency and chronic myositis. My Dr sent me a letter that she could not treat me after changing me to a new pain medication that caused me to have sever withdrawal symptoms.I was left in sever pain and had no Dr. This so unfair and humiliating to people how really need pain medicine.

I'm a 21 year old woman and I have been experiencing chronic fibromyalgia pain for years without fully understanding the pain or other psychological symptoms. The pain, fatigue, and fibro-fog are debilitating, to the point where even normal daily activities (taking out the trash, preparing meals, even just leaving my room) become next to impossible to carry out. Although I've been experiencing the physical and psychological symptoms of fibromyalgia for years, my diagnosis has only come about within the last week. I've seen doctors, therapists, and psychologists who all worked to treat my psychological symptoms rather than addressing my physical pain. As the pain and fatigue continually worsened over the last 2 years, I felt I had to no other option than to self-medication to soothe some of the ache. I'm an intelligent woman and a dedicated student and many have labeled me an "addict" for treating my pain. The social stigma from my friends and peers coupled my own self-loathing for what I felt I needed to be done (since I didn't understand that it was fibro-related pain I was feeling) to keep me from experiencing constant debilitating pain have been devastating.

I am a 58 year old woman with severe scoliosis. My spine surgeon does not recommend surgery at my age, so we were managing my back pain with anti-inflammatory, muscle relaxer (Soma), and pain (Ultram) medication. After living most of my adult life with constant back pain, my quality of life vastly improved with the help of these medicines. Today my spine surgeon, a very well respected and highly recommended professional, told me he can no longer give me prescriptions for my pain medicine and muscle relaxer, because of DEA threats to pull his license. How is it that the government gets in the middle of my healthcare like this? My government it's literally making me sick.

I suffer chronic pain and the causes for this pain will not go away....I've been on Oxycontin since it came out in the early 90's. Same dose and it is the only med that helps. I am just one of many that are being treated like we are HOOKED on pain pills. We need the help in order to have any kind of life and the government has scared doctors and are reprogramming the way they treat patients. It is the fault of those who abuse medications and I hear that those people are now snorting "bath salts". Will the government stop the sales of bath salts too? Please stop this trend against people in pain. We have no alternatives!
