I'm a 34-year-old mother of three small children. I have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, fibromyalgia, mixed connective tissue disorders, Reynards phenomenon, and a few other autoimmune disorders. I myself will live with chronic pain for the rest of my life! People like me are denied pain medication for legitimate chronic pain!!! It is not right for the government or the DEA to say who is in legitimate pain in who is not! They are not doctors! And they cannot point out which person is seeking pain medication for recreational use and what people are seeking pain medicine medication because they are living With legitimate pain! My three small children suffer several times a week because their mother cannot help them with daily activities much less get out of bed! I live in Louisville Kentucky and it's a shame that I cannot receive adequate health care!! Something has to be done!

I am a 28 yr old mother of 2 girls who lives with chronic pain daily. I broke my hip as a child and have had several surgeries to try and correct it. Due to my gait I began having back pain which resulted in ruptured and bulging discs. I then had a disc fusion and replacement. Every single day i suffer. And trying to get any kind of relief medication is like pulling teeth. Never was i treated so poorly in my life. I am not an addict just a mom who wants to be able to have a better quality of life for her kids. I want to be able to take them outside and have energy to be a mom. Do you know that with every year of chronic pain your brain loses 3.2 cubic centimeters gray matter? It is not good to be left in uncontrolled pain.

I agree with this I've had the same problem with doctors for years I've been disabled since '98.I fell broke my pelvic bone, shattered my right wrist and blue out to disc in my back and I've had nothing but problems you can't get a doctor its ridiculous. and then the day comes and they close down a couple of doctors offices then all those people are looking for doctors you have no extra doctors in the doctors aren't taking new patients and they don't take Medicare. everyone keeps talking about people claiming for disability and you say they are faking.you come stay with me any night in any day and you can see the hurt in my eyes. there is not a night in the last 15 years that I've been able to sleep more than 2 hours at a time and I woke up crying begging God to take my life. no 1 should ever have to go through that and heaven for bid I know there's many more people out there that is worse off than I am and I feel sorry for them. I was working for Walmart when I become disabled and I didn't have anybody in the government making sure that workers comp was taking care of me and I thought that's what you're putting office for was to make sure these big corporations did not take advantage of the individuals. then they refuse to pay my claims and disability the state or federal government has to take over. that is wrong in itself no in the Walmart makes you baby in the dollars and they should take care of their employees. if you don't worry about doing you always job instead of talking about somebody else not doing their job maybe when y'all doing your job it'll make it easier for everybody else to do their job,go figure. but let's keep talking about general betrayus and his affairs. that's more important than the disabled people that you have overlooked for years.

I have just moved to Tennessee. I had one prescription for methadone that needed to be filled because we can only fill them one day early now, so we moved before I could fill it. I went to a CVS in Crossville, TN and they would not fill it, even though they looked at my file and could see I had been going there for years and getting my scripts filled on time every time. I ended up going to 7 other pharmacies that treated me like an addict before I found one that would fill it for me. Well, I can't afford to drive to Indiana to get my scripts every month so I found a pain clinic to go to but they need a referral, so I went to a family doctor today so he could refer me....well, he didn't like my meds so he won't take me as a patient ....so how am I supposed to get a referral now?

I have been waiting for OWCP/FECA to approve my knee injury that had already been approved 2 years ago.. I have two Destroyed ankles and feet...plus flare ups and residuals... from an on the job injury.. and my knee gait shift weight changing torn lateral meniscus which is consequential.. Was already approved but a new claims examiner denied the claim and gave excuses.. the Doctor stated the first surgery did not take.. total pain coming from my knee.. and both ankles as now my gait is completely off whack.. I have been this way waiting for 4 months..with only pain medication holding me together mentally and physically.. after surgery is completely done.. I will still need to be on pain meds for the feet and ankle and now deep knee arthritis ..

This is cruel and inhumane to allow people to suffer this way. I refuse be quiet about this injustice any longer. Either allow doctors to treat their patients the way they see fit, or have the mercy to allow physician assisted suicide. Because most, if not all patients in chronic, unrelenting pain would rather die, than suffer like this every minute of every day.

I have adhesive arachnoiditis. I found out in 2012, it first showed on Mri in 1988. This disease is 100% caused by medical actions that I gave my permission to have because no dr would tell me that I was at risk or that I already had AA! My dr of 17 years retired, got my records, & found that I had AA & no one told me making my condition worse. My dr of 12 years, who gives me pain medicine, stopped seeing all his pain pts because of fear of DEA. This left me with no dr. I have incompatible with being alive pain, nerve pain, spinal cord stuck to my meninges. My hunt for a new dr was futile. Three neurosurgeons wouldnt touch me for fear of worsening my pain or causing paralysis. Seek pain mgmt was their advice. Saw 3 pain mgmt drs. One called me a drug seeker, addict. My medicine is time released or in a patch. There is no " buzz " possible. Second Pain mgmt dr, kept insisting I have procedures & surgeries that are CONTRADINDICATED with AA! (AA-adhesive arachnoiditis) Wouldnt fill my Rx's unless I agreed to procedures that would harm me. He took one of my medications away before i disagreed. He took ALL medication away because I wouldnt have surgery by an anesthesiologist! When 3 baylor neurosurgeons wouldnt touch me. Would you advocate that? Would you do that? Drs in general are LESS educated on my condition than I am! I return once to my fear filled dr. He gives me my medicines. I have never taken a pill too soon or changed a dose. Yesterday, i fell on concrete driveway.( part of AA is your feet go numb & I cannot stand suddenly, much less fall severely)I could Not call my dr, because by todays standards, I would be making a pest of myself, & that could equal your dr not treating you anymore. If i go to ER i am bound by my word & signature that i will not take any medicine prescribed by another dr in/by a pain mgmt contract, if i took ERs medicine I would break my word (i guess no one cares if they do that anymore but myself), also, when I am drug screened there it would be & now you are dropped by dr as well. If I make an appt to see my dr & its scheduled so that i run out of medicine 8 days before appt. Stating this information, it is not changed for me. Then, I have to suffer further by making my medicine last longer,8 days longer. This is currently happening, not a made up to make the point example. So, i stretch my meds by having worse pain longer. When I go to my appt. the drug screen looks for the presence of my meds @ the current dosage to make sure that Im not selling my medicine. Well, they will find it lower because of their own scheduling i stretched it & suffered. And what is my reward for this suffering? I will be accused of selling my meds & will not be a patient anymore by the drs own hand & contract. WHERE are my rights to have pain & suffering relieved? GONE! And, remember THIS is the GOOD dr! DEA has frightened him into NOT being the caring, happy dr that I once knew! He is sooo stressed! Do you see drug addicts, dealers, p

I continue to suffer daily pain and spasms from DDD, Benign Brain Tumors with horrific migraines. If it wasn't for my physician in mass, I would not be alive and living daily enjoying a little time with my family. I live in Myrtle Beach SC, and have a local physician who denied me any kind of pain meds for a recent diagnosed torned knee menisis, and being 63yrs. and retired, what am I expected to do? Just sit on my couch or lay in bed all the time waiting for the end to come! These physicians here are being threatened daily by this controlled DEA or SLED Terriorists to keep from giving wellness to those of us who really need pain meds just to live our days without having to lie down and cry. I will have to move back up North to keep getting my pain meds, not strong ones, its a liquid vicodin, and this med really gives me the strength to achieve daily relationships with family and friends. South Carolina, and those other states should fight back and stop allowing these agencies from stalking and threatening their livelihood that has put the fear in these doctors and those dear pharmacist. This is tragic, and we can't allow anyone to take our lives and litterly bury us alive with pain!

I suffer from chronic pain and because most doctors refuse to treat chronic pain or taught to manage it well, I am in the ER almost monthly in severe pain. Eventually I am going to have a heart attack because I am not treated. It is wrong how our government is forcing doctor's not to treat Legit pain. My life is hell and I am getting to the point have wanting to end my life.

My mother and Grandmother both live in Florida and both have different medical reasons they receive pain medication. Now they have to go weeks without it because pharmacies will not fill their prescriptions! They have Medicare and insurance. I have seen Pharmacies take cash for medication if its a large enough amount but if your an eldery person with medicare they make you suffer! It is Truly SICK! I don't want to see my mom or grandma suffer any longer!! They already have to deal with horrible pain the rest of their lives, let them get some relief! Pharmacies can tell if someone is a junkie or not. They don't need to take it out on the innocent as well. I have seen one elderly lady, well over 60 being told that because the Pharmacist didn't like her doctor she couldn't have her medication filled there. That is WRONG!

I cannot tell you the frustration my family has been thru and is going thru because of this. Some people are in REAL PAIN and need HELP. Do they get it? As far as I can see - NO. I have MRI's to show how bad my back is but all these dr.'s want to do is injections so they can make more money. I have been trying for almost 2 years to get help with this pain, it gets increasingly worse. Injections DO NOT help. There has to be something someone can do for people who are in real pain. I've watched my husband suffer for years and be treated like a drug addict. Then whe he did get something to help the pharmacies said they didn't have it. This is outrageous. My daughter finally found someone to help her, she has to drive an hour every two weeks to get her script refilled and of course pay a copay.

My father is suffering with crippling back and neck pain resulting from 35 years of physical labor. He is on disability, my parents live pay check to pay check, and he is forced to scrape together $200 a month to see the only doctor who will prescribe medication that will help. I am only 31 years and suffer from acute scoliosis. I am TIRED of jumping through hoops in order to get the help I need to do the normal things that other people do. I see a chiropractor and exercise. I need doctors to help me with what I need help with! This is OUTRAGEOUS!

As a sufferer of chronic pain due to Degenerative Disk Disease, Failed Back Surgery Syndrome, irreversible nerve damage, osteoarthritis of the facet joints, neuropathy, scar tissue and 2 rods and 4 screws in my lumbar spine, I find the hoops we have to jump through for legitimate pain management ridiculous and redundant. My Dr who specializes in pain management is wonderful but even she gets fed up with the red tape. I know these drugs fall into the wrong hands too often, but stop making real patients with real pain suffer for all of the idiots out there. I deserve the best quality of life possible. If taking these medications allows that, who are you people to tell my Dr what she can give me?? I do not believe as patients we should be scrutinized and placed on lists that monitor our medications. All of you "fellows" in OUR House of Reps, Congress, Senate would not appreciate being placed on a list for say, your Viagra use. The point is; make our lives easier please. Those that suffer chronic pain have so little that is easy, getting relief should be at the top of that list.

I speak for all of us when I say it isnt fair that WE have to suffer along with any other pain patient. Please help us in our aid to get the right to NOT BEING IN PAIN Thank you

It's not the DEA who are making the laws they are just enforcing them. The Federal Drug Administration(Hitler) is the one doing all the damage and the DEA(The SS) are the enforcers. Either way they are hurting a lot of legitimate chronic pain patients.

I have been fighting this problem since last year this time. I was a state leader for the American pain Foundation. I have watched this decline for months now. The doctors are running away.. and finding your prescription to get it filled if you are lucky enough to have a doctor? Good luck filling it. I have to say.. that I know.. The DEA is the problem!! We need to start protesting the DEA offices in every town.
