The United States government DOES NOT care about the comfort level of its quality, law-abiding citizens...simple as that! The government is blatantly punishing all LEGITIMATE chronic pain patients, who follow the laws of the government and the rules of their physicians...because of the abuse of the mostly worthless, self-indulgent "users", who are simply seeking a "high", or seeking to "maintain", so they don't become ill (due to their abuse!). The SELFISH abusers have created a LIVING HELL for those of us who have multiple chronic, progressive/degenerative conditions that require long-term pain management. People who are trying to maintain as normal a lifestyle as possible and contribute to society as best as they can, even though they still live with a certain degree of pain every day. It is truly disgusting and pathetic to witness what our government has done in the "pain management" area of the medical field, to apply a "fix" as they see fit!

Watching the affects of this on someone dear to me, down to the point they have labeled her a 'drug abuser' rather than treat her pain. She talked of getting a part time job before her nurse practitioner took away most of her meds. Doctors are to afraid to treat her. Why??

I suffer daily,i have been on narcotic medications for7 years. I am dissabled, without medication suicide would be an option. Let Doctors do their job. The DEA are hurting honest Americans all over this country. They are causing fear and terror in the hearts and minds of health care workers and patients throughout our nation,They are acting like health care terrorist. Stop going after innocent loyal Americans. Go after the heroin and cocaine drug lords flooding our streets with tons of suffering. I forgot the drug lords are the government of Afghanistan and the drug lords have corrupted the governments of Columbia and Mexico. If all you DEA people were elected to your jobs you would terminated for gross failure of meeting the most basic requirements of your jobs. The other causing great needless suffering among countless American tax payers and health care providers.I repeat again "let the Doctors treat their patients as they deem necessary without fear of being water boarded by a DEA goon squad. A loyal disabled American in constant needless pain because my doctors live in fear of the DEA. So sad easier to by an assault riffle and a bag of heroin and crack. Then it is to have my Doctor write me my monthly medications that allow me to have some quality of life , and you people want to take even this from me and countless loyal honest Americans. Leave the medical community prior to the formation of the DEA they were doing just fine treating their patients. Only After the DEA was formed and non doctors started playing doctor. Did this great nation start having a drug problem and the violence that went along with the governments creation of a black market as a result of its' own actions , and countless needless suffering of sick hurt honest loyal Americans under medicated if at all because Doctors were in fear of the DEA taking their liberty and work away from them.To this very day the DEA is playing doctor where it has no right to . Stop torturing sick suffering injured loyal Americans by your fear producing actions and inept laws affect the medical health workers in this nation. I hope none of you is ever faced with living in severe chronic pain,oh I forgot you guys can just grab some dope from the evidence locker or have ie fed ex from a drug lord you and your buddies at the CIA put in power. That's right you guys make and break your own rules at will ! A loyal suffering American

My doctor followa all the rules and fills my prescriptions because I have a legitimate reason for taking them. My problem is with the pharmacist and their fear of the DEA. They say they don't get enough medication for all their patients. I don't drive and I am in to much pain to be at the pharmacy by bus every day to be first if they get a delivery that day. The DEA said they didn't do anything and all the pharmacists are lying. I know this is not true because when I called 3 pharmacists who told me about the DEA and all the threats they are making and told them I spoke to our senator and the DEA they were scared to death that there pharmacy name was mentioned. I assured them that no names were used and they said they just couldn't afford giving the DEA any reason to come after them since the DEA is out of control and no doctor or pharmacist can afford to get on their bad side. Someone has to stop the DEA from treating legitimate doctors, pharmacistand patients the same way they they treat Columbian drug Run-d.m.c. The media doesn't help either by leading the public to believe that patients are going to become addicts. If the patients had no drug problem in the past and take the meds as prescribed there is little risk. And if the public thinks that stopping the use of opiates for pain will stop drug addicts from dying they are wrong too. Drug addicts will just die from whatever drug they use instead. Spend the money the DEA is using to go after doctors and pharmacist to pay for long term treatment for addicts.

I follow all the rules for my legitimate, proven pain. Go after those just looking for a "high" instead of me, who, without relief, will pass out trying to walk across my small kitchen floor. Hope all of you involved get the same pain soon and get no relief. Where a case of Advil is no more effective than M&'s

Its a shame how you are treated by a Dr. You are passed off as liar and all you are there for is to get medications. They don't try to listen to you. WE ARE IN PAIN! WE HURT! When I walk into a DR it is not because i want to be there. I have severe Dr anxiety..I would rather be anywere else. it is torture for me to open myself up for that type of examination in the first place. Then to be passed off like I am nothing makes it even that much worse. Dr's need to learn to have some "bedside manner" again and take their patients serious..I know law prohibits some stuff, but geez suck it up buddy and put in the time you choose the profession, now take the time needed to take care of your patients the way they deserve to be taken care of!!

Pain is a horrible thing to live with 24/7, I know personally as I have been suffering the same headache non stop since early 2006 and it is agonizing some times. It took me years to find some one that would help treat my pain. This is not ok, and this should never be ok. Lets start treating those that have non stop pain with the respect and care they need, lets help those with their pain.

My Spouse and I are both sufferer's of Chronic Pain, so debilitating from day to day, that even washing our hair, or doing the dishes is unbearable, bed ridden and depressed from not being able to live life, we are labeled, and condemned, told it is our fault or treated like our ailments are fabrications, the FDA and DEA no longer have the Public Health in mind, they are profiting from the suffering of millions of Americans, these coercive and aggressive acts perpetrated by these government agencies only further Isolate this individuals, we are told that we need to be function member's of society yet we are denied the means to do so, these Agencies, continue to profit from the lie's they perpetrate, they have been given too much power and this has lead them to abuse it, and forced Doctor's and Patients to go underground to find relief, they are starting a War on People not on Drugs, they are only ruining the Quality of Life for these People.. Constantly living in fear of not finding relief, and only further raising the prices people will pay for diverted Medications, because their doctors refuse to treat them, Congress needs to listen to these people, or suffer the consequences of public opinion, we the People will win this battle, for it is stated in our Rights that the government is to have limited control over our lives, and we the people have had it, our Leader's need to be removed from office, and the corrupt practices of these individuals need to be addressed, before these people resort to even more drastic actions, why should congress or these other agencies care, if we are all suffering and in pain how are we to protest against their abusive policies, and tactics of coercion, we can't and they know this so the more pain we are in the more control they have and the more money they can embezzle from the suffering public, when the government no longer serves the interests of the people we the people have the right to abolish such rule, as stated in the Declaration of Independence, and these Fascist agencies are no longer operating under the constitution which renders them nothing more than tyrants against our Nation, and in doing so they are violating everything our Founder's had fought so hard to prevent, they are making a Mockery of Democracy and it needs to stop, you are no different then us, because you hold a position of power does not make you Gods or better than anybody else, this Country was created to make all men equal, then why is all this so one sided, there is no equality in our Nation as long as you see fit to allow these types of traitorous acts to continue, consider that it is your Son, or Daughter's, Mother's and Father's that are suffering and you are prevented from easing their suffering, because some agency tells you no... Will you stand for it while your loved ones perish from their pain, just because it lines other peoples pockets with gold, I think not, if our Leader's cannot see this, or show compassion for those the

Clearly the reasons why opiate prescriptions have nearly tripled since 1991 is not only because of the aging boomer generation, but more likely due to the exploitation of our generation by an overzealous medical industry subjecting us to unnecessary risks for monetary gain. Over ?30% of all medical procedures and surgeries are completely unnecessary? according to Johns Hopkins senior surgeon Dr. Marty Makary, the author of ?Unaccountable, What Hospitals Won?t Tell You?. Additionally, ?nearly 64% of all epidural steroid injections (ESI?s) are [also] unnecessary? according to Dr. Laxmaiah Manchikanti, director of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. ESI?s, a major cause of neurological damage such as the extremely painful condition known as Arachnoiditis, are neither FDA approved nor recommended by the steroid manufacturer?s due to severe adverse event reports. So what does all this mean? It means that a large portion of the US population have needlessly been subjected to severe risks of serious adverse complications from unnecessary procedures which in turn will require extensive pain management for each and every one that were victimized. Thus the medical community is directly responsible for the rising demand in opiates to control the damage they have caused and yet they retreat in perpetual denial at what they have created... such shame! Dennis J. Capolongo / Director / EDNC - Washington DC

I am a chronic pain patient with having had several spinal surgies and painful arthritis. I have run into pharmacies here in Texas where they refuse to fill my prescription of pain medication. Whats worse is I have no insurance. I live in daily pain, and rarely leave my house due to the pain. Most of the pharmacies I have tried to work with on my medications view my medications with skeptism and I am treated like a drug addict. I think this is awful how chronic pain patients are being treated. What is worse is when I have found a pharmacy to fill my medication they have a difficult time filling it due to shortages.

Doctors must remember to treat the individual patient and not fall back on the statistical "norms" to save time and/or protect themselves. Knowing the patient and the needs of the patient will show the physician if and when pain meds are truly a necessity and not "just an addiction." Although the type of meds in question do not provide much relief for me, I know that they work for others with arachnoiditis. Any patient diagnosed with this condition should should not be denied monitored use of the medication that relieves this pain. Without relief from arachnoiditis and its complications these patients become isolated from society and lose all sense of independence and productivity. The decision to base pain management and treatment options on abuse or criminal activity instead of the needs of the individual patient leaves chronic pain sufferers with no relief while the drug abusers and criminals will just find other methods to achieve their goals. The wrong people are being regulated and punished if pain relief is not available for arachnoiditis patients because of this action.

Once again, the government over-regulates where there is a need (opioids for long term chronic pain patients with conditions such as arachnoiditis) - then under-regulates where there is a need to stop harm (the run-away epidural steroid industry). Why not provide equal opportunity to the physicians who are truly causing death and permanent injury (39 people are dead and over 600 are seriously ill) from the contaminated steroid injections? The physicians who inject "off-label" steroid products should also be sanctioned for causing death and permanent disabilities.

These laws and doctors "opinions" are causing way to much pain for the patients that seriously need pain relief that you can't get over the counter, and especially narcotic pain relief, which doctors use to prescribe for "moderate to severe" pain. I feel like there should be DEA agents investigating to see who REALLY NEEDS pain relief! Or, they need to do a better job getting in the streets, cutting off the illegal use of prescription pain medication. All I truly know is, I'm tired of suffering in pain!!!

As a chronic pain patient myself, I have had to learn to live with it and take advil, or the likes, because any time I've gone to the hospital when it's really been bad, they want to give me a tylenol, charge me $100 for it too, then send me on my way. Maybe I need to explain to them that I should be buying stock on Advil because I know they're making money, at least off me. About a year ago, I saw a doctor for about 5-6 months and her immediate answer to my back pain was because I am a little overweight. If I lost the weight, I'd be fine. At the end, she was prescribing me 60 vicodin, saying take 1-2 every 4-6hrs, then says I'm going through them too fast because it hasn't been a month. Maybe I'm not as good in math as I thought I was, but wtf? About 3 months after she stopped seeing me(yes, she just cut me off everything including my blood pressure meds cold turkey), I had to go for an x-ray of my back for SSD. Come to find out, I have a major problem with my back. I've just seen another doctor again, for the first time since, and she gave me a few percocet, but only about a 10 day supply and I'm afraid to call her, or her office, and ask them to give me a script. Keep in mind, I went and saw her about a month ago, so that I just took the last one last week should say something, but still. I shouldn't have to stretch out my meds and decide if the pain is actually bad enough to take any, or if I can push through it and save it for a worse time. It's ridiculous. And I've heard horror stories from RSD patients.

This issue has been going on for too long. I am so sick of all these patients being labelled. Most Doctor's know when a Patient is lying to them or not. They can clearly tell by their records. I do agree that there needs to be some kind of way to protect the patients that suffer, and to dump the ones that don't. Until this happens, we are going to go in this circle for years. It just makes me so mad and so sad for the patients that truly suffer!
