Pain management is between the patient and their doctor. The government or any other person or entity has absolutely NO RIGHT interfering in my care and deciding what is in my best interest. I donated a kidney years before I had anything wrong with my back. Now I have chronic pain and am limited in what I can take - ie: no NSAIDs. So according to politicians, I get to live in pain and be suspected of being an addict when my medicine no longer works. STAY OUT OF MY HEATHCARE!!!

After two injuries as a child involving my back and neck, and then a 38 year career in rough framing my back and neck are ruined. I have too much to list here, but I have all the MRI and tests to document what I suffer from. I am basically an invalid at 62. I am in excruciating pain 24 hours a da, everyday of my life. I worked while being in pain until I could not tolerate it one more day. I have tried everything available with the exception of neck, and back surgery, after seeing what happened to my wife of 44 years have back surgery, and was told by Nuerosurgeon that there was a 90 percent chance of success and she is worse off than before her surgery. I have had more injections, physical therapy etc., and nothing has alleviated my intense pain. I am now being treated like a low life scumbag drug addict by the pharmacies, even though I am under an excellent Pain Management Dr., and have been on the same RX for Morphine for over 3 years now. I must go to Dr. Every month, and then fight to get Rx filled every month. The Pharmacies do not know if they will be able to have my Rx when it is due for refill. I get the run around between them, and the Dr. Office. When you are in intolerable pain all the stress makes it much worse. Who in their right mind wants to take this stuff. Now the DEA, and our wonderful Lawyer Senate and Congress have decided that they want to play God and Dr. And make it almost impossible to get relief just to walk, or take a shower, by telling the Dr. s what and how much they can prescribe to the poor people who suffering. This just not right. Yes the USA has drug and Alcohal problems, however the Government needs to use good old common sense to tackle the illegal drug abuse , sales by drug dealers, gangs, drug cartels, strip mall pill mills, irresponible parents who leave pain medication laying around, Dr. Shopping etc., and try to help, and make it easier not harder for Americas aging population, and those with pain inducing debilitating diseases, to at least have some quality of their remaining life. I am appalled at the approach taken by our so called leaders, Help us do not hinder us, and do not make us feel like we are the cause of the abuse of persription Pain medication, and the scourge of the earth. I am on disability and suffer from a legitimate chronic condition that has responded well to pain medication. I do not abuse it but I am treated like a drug addict. What have we come to when everyone is suspected of being an addict even when their medical records clearly show a need for treatment and that treatment has given them some quality of life. We must make our voices known.

I am tired of people being refused health care when their is medication to help thin lead a good life and work ,enjoy their families. It is time for us to step up and take action on this. There doesn't seen to be a problem to help the illegals in this country and the homeless. But. when it comes to the people who work and pay their taxes they get no help at all.

What ever happened to empathy and compassion? Do we really want a generation of doctors who are trained sadists? Stop the intimidation of doctors by the DEA. There is no place for this ignorance in civilized society.

Let us be a nation that listens to and is sympathetic to those who suffer every day with debilitating pain. Health care providers should be allowed to work in partnership with those afflicted, rather than bend to archaic laws and practices. Health care should be allowed to focus on prevention instead of paliative measures.

I have been a chronic pain patient since my early 20's. I take responsibility for my own health by eating right, exercising, yoga and meditation. I had the same neuro for 10 years. One day he told me he can't refill a modest amount of pain med that he knew was the one thing that gave me some quality of life. After that day I have been searching for a dr who can help me regain functionality and be able to work, study, and just enjoy life not living in fear. Last spring I did a 10 day green juice fast to help rid body of toxins to see if it would reduce pain. I went to one of my favorite nature spots to celebrate this achievement. I was sexually assaulted in a place I had always used in my mind when in unbearable pain as my place of peace. I was taken to the ER to be treated for cut to my neck and back of my neck from assault. The next day I was in unbearable pain and did not sleep a minute the night before. 2 detectives interrogated me and tried to convince me it was my husband who assaulted me. They wanted so badly to protect the tourist spot of where I was assaulted from losing the money of tourist season that had just begun. Ridiculous to tell someone it might have been your husband like you wouldn't know. They brought me back again to be interrogated a week later. I told them I was nauseated and unable to get off the bed. We needed to do this another day. They ignored the fact I was in too much pain to go through another 5 hour interrogation. They came and picked me up and intimidated me to comply. i was in a truck with 2 detectives trujng to play mental chess with me, manipulate me and coerce me. They tried everything they could to pin the assault on my husband who is the kindest most compassionate and supportive husband Anyone could have. They threatened to go to his work and question everyone he was the manager of to get a feel for his character. They threatened to bring my college age son in and interrogate him asking questions that would be traumatic to him and that were humiliating to me. They pressured me with accounts of going thru my medical records which they did and paint me as a drug addict for using pain meds that were prescribed to me, were used in compliance with dr.s orders. One detective told me that he used to have back pain and after the pain was healed he kept using Vicodin in large amounts and was addicted to them. He said that pain patients are just lying to themselves and believe they have pain to score narcotics. I was respectful to him about his experience. I told him there is a difference between chronic pain and pain that heals. When you are in chronic pain you don't feel any high or euphoria. It is not a source of pleasure to have to take pain meds, it is the opposite. He was offended by this and left with his partner out of the room. They came back in and told me they called my husband in for questioning. They told me that they were going to interrogate him for days if they had to. They sent a police officer to ou

I will sing with the choir!! I have had excellent pain management until this year! I have severe ruemetoid and Lupus and am extremely functionable when treated with modifying medication alongside my pain contract. Now I am nearly bed ridden, have to have in home health nurses to wipe me, bath ect.. simply because my Dr, after 20 years decides to yank me off my pain contract.. I am not a addict, I use it to MAINTAIN MY PAIN!! Please alow us the freedom to LIVE and be independent! This not only hurts a persons pride but you will see a tremendous increase in suicides and illegal drug seeking,It sickens me that people that truly NEED this or chronic issues cannot get the treatment that WORKS for them!! God help us all!!

living with Chronic pain is devastating. It can rule your life. Pain patients do NOT become addicted to their meds, but we can become dependent of them. There IS a difference!! Rules SHOULD be in place to weed out the people who are just wanting pills to either sell, or abuse. I wish everyone, ESPECIALLY the politicians, could understand that they are NOT managing patients' pain, they are managing patients' prescriptions according to what THEY think is appropriate. Fewer prescriptions does NOT equal less pain or better pain management. That's like saying fewer doctors visits means people are well - it may just mean they can't afford the visits! I wish they could spend just one day in a pain patients shoes. They wouldn't make it a day...

We all have to stand together or nothing will change. I cant understand why the tracking system was approved or created if there is not going to be medications to track. Im not a lawyer but there has to be some right that has been voliated by DEA for forcing patients to go without.

On January 18 2013 I went to the Walgreens store #3613 @ 4220 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton Fl. 34205 to get 5 prescriptions filled. I have been going to this same Pharmacy for atleast 15 years. Some of these scripts have been prescribed to me for atleast 7 years. The pharmacist asked what she can do for me I handed her the prescriptions and she didn't even bother to look at them she just told me she was NOT filling them I asked why and she said she didn't have to answer that. I then asked for the Pharmacy Supervisor she said thats Audrey and your talking to her.You treated me as if I were breaking the law by trying to fill my LEGAL SCRIPT. I am due for surgery on a torn rotator cuff in a few weeks. I also have 3 crushed discs, 4 herniated discs, spinal spondylolysis, degenertive disc desease, and I can go on and on... I am under the care of a highly competent and respectable surgeon. I understand that the DEA is really cracking down but your pharmacy is not a pain management facility.
