My rheumatologist finally got my pain level under control(4-5 and I could walk) when Jan 1, 2013 rolled around the fed government and insurance company- whom I've never met or had a physical exam with-decided they new what was best for my reflux(from taking huge amounts of NSAIDS) and what's best for my pain. My rheumatologist has been treating me for 9yrs-osteoarthritis, rheumatoid, gout, chronic bursitis in both hips, bulging and ruptured discs, degenerative disc disease, fibromyalgia. Because of the arthritis, I've had surgery on both hands and one foot(will have surgery on the other foot soon). The pain in my hips is so bad I can't turn over in bed or get out of bed. My hand are so painful that I can barely bathe myself or lift our very light weight comforter when I get too hot. Now you tell me who knows how to help me: my rheumatologist, the insurance company or the fed govt. please don't tie the hands of my Dr-he know how to tx me so that I can at least do ADL with tolerable pain. I don't want meds that make me fuzzy headed, but I DO want pain relief. As a RN for 34 yrs, I strived to give my pts the very best care and to meet their needs- I'm just asking for the same. Thank you, KimMar 20th, 2013Someone from Ludington, MI signed.

I was an advocate of adequate pain control as an RN before I became a pain patient. It doesn't help when people around me ask if I'm addicted to the pain pills. Why, yes. I am addicted to trying to have a pain-free lifestyle.REPORT COMMENTS

I have chronic pain after having every procedure pain managements Dr. could give me. Then 2 back surgeries and a spinal cord stimulator and still have high pain levels in my back. I've also went to PT 8 sessions of 5 week periods at a time over the last couple of years. Still in pain !!! I'm not a drug seeker, I just want some relief and now with the pressure put on the PM Drs. They are forced to cut my meds to a lowers dose. It's hard living like this. Hard to be positive when you are in a lot of pain. Depression and anxiety sucks that comes with the pain. Hate the suicidal thought because I'm miserable. Chronic pain is real !! We aren't drug seekers or addicts, we just want to be able to live a some what normal life again. Get your drug addicts in another way. Chronic pain people are suffering and it isn't fair to us because of the drug addicts who just want to get high !! Please listen to us !!REPORT COMMENTS

Sad but true I have seen many elderly left to suffer, withdraw from society and keep them homebound because of their pain. The DEA then pushes these new expensive medications that have way more dangerous side affects. Sad very sad.REPORT COMMENTS

The pain is real and never ending for chronic pain patients! Its time to stop treating us as drug seeking addicts. I follow every rule on my signed contract with my doctor as most have to. We have to search pharmacies for medication, be judged without mercy or compassion for how we suffer everyday. No one understands how it is unless they end up with chronic pain or take care of someone they love with pain.. Finding a Pain Management facility and a pharmacy to fill the medications becomes harder and harder. It is real and we deserve to live a half normal life as everyone else does, without worrying if this is the month you won't be able to get your medication and be forced to suffer or worse??????REPORT COMMENTS

IF diagonostic tests confirm source of pain, why 2nd guess? Count meds, do UA's but don't deny medications needed so people can possibly live and do basic daily activities!!REPORT COMMENTS

Please try to understand that needing pain medication does not make us criminals.I have been in tremendous pain for the past 4yrs. Following a botched hysterectomy! My pain level is always at least a 7-8 on a good day!! My entire life has been altered and to even walk or play with my daughter I must stay on my medications. I follow all needed requests such as signed a paper at my doctors saying I will only receive medicine from her. Agree to random urine testing. Yet have felt judgement from the pharmacy. This is wrong!! We need these meds and are getting them legally! Please fight your drug war on the streets where illegal acts are performed. Stay out of the doctors ear and make them feel they have to choose, help the patient as swore to do, or blow them off in fear of the DEA.REPORT COMMENTS
