Luckily my doctor knows I don't like taking pills at all and thus she knows I don't abuse any medication, but especially those for pain. Unfortunately I have to rely on them to get through the day and the night. Not everyone who is prescribed pain medication, is an addict, former addict or even future addict. Thank you for doing this, there are so many who need these meds and the thought of not having them and going back to even more pain and no sleep because of it is a scary thought. We just want answers and don't want to take these meds, but don't take them away for those of us who have to rely on them.Mar 24th, 2013Someone from Concord, NH signed.

My wife is a pain sufferer. Thank you!!!! Thank you!!! Thank you!!! Those who wrote this and put it into motion, those who sign it and those who pass it are angels! Don't those of us in pain deserve to live quality lives too? Please don't force us into a dark corner and take away everything that allows us to live a SEMI normal life. Even with meds we are never pain free. We are always suffering. The meds allow us to function at a bear minimum so we have strength to hang in here instead of giving up. Please help us.REPORT COMMENTS

It is not fair to limit our pain relief because of a fear of addiction. Shouldn't we be able to function to the best of out ability? That is why we need pain relief, or, at the bare minimum, taking the edge off our pain so that we do not withdraw from society.REPORT COMMENTS

I deal with Chronic pain every day, due to mild Cerebral Palsy, Arthritis and 2 back surgeries. I went to the ER and was questioned whether I was "shopping" turns out I was admitted for emergency surgery on my gallbladder. I sit in silence just so I am not labeled. I avoid many activities so as not to "aggravate" the pain. I understand why the caution, just remember not all stories are the same or have the same outcome.REPORT COMMENTS

As a long time suffer of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and rheumatoid arthritis I rely on narcotic medications even with a spinal cord stimulator to reduce some of the pain. I am willing to follow the rules and sign a contract with my doctor but I am not willing to be labelled by an outsider and judged by an administrative bodyREPORT COMMENTS

This is very disgraceful when a society has come to this and a doctor has to be afraid of treating his own patients. What happen to care and have compassion for another person.REPORT COMMENTS

If you or a loved one had this syndrome you would NOT oppose pain medication restrictions for chronic pain sufferers. Pain has stolen my life, has deprived my family of a wife and mother and friend. If you take away pain medication or restrict it, I don't see that I have any other options. Please if it was your spouse, mom, sister friend...you would feel very different about this. Don't let the abusers of narcotics infringe on the benefits for the people who really need it. Thanks for your consideration.REPORT COMMENTS

I have the following condition, Chronic Pain, Diabetic autonimic polyneuropathy ,occipital neuralgia migraine ,Cervical spondylosis & Lumbar spondylosis . I have a dorsal spinal cord stimulator ..for the last ten years I need the tier3 and 4 or cancer pain meds in order to be functional each day . I am on SSD , When my pain management tries to change my medication regimen to something I used to get a few years ago, now my insurance company ( Medicare gap coverage by united health care) it get denied. So I am force to use a medication regimen that barely make me functional ......the DEA has a list from the pharmacy and doctors of patients , who are on opioid meds. Just let us, chronic patients have some type of life. Instead of being home bound.REPORT COMMENTS

All this is, is a sadly misguided effort to stop illegal drug abuse. You are doing it wrong! Start looking at diverted drugs from mfg plants, drug reps, & warehouses for national pharmacy chains. Your current focus is ludicris!REPORT COMMENTS
