I have chronic pain that effects my career and my inability to work without medication. I have to work to provide for myself to live. Now the government says I can't get meds I have taken for 10 years! I know with this recent reduction in my medication will leave my enable to do my job several days out of the month. I hope I am able to keep up with the demands of teaching with my body hurting so bad I can not get out of bed.

i'm a grown man with a valid medical necessity for opiod pain medication as opposed to some new drug with a long list of terrible side effects or someone jabbing a needle into my spine. we don't need the dea or government baby sitting us like we're children!

I think the DEA has WAY TO MUCH control in peoples lives.. Unless your living it, you'll NEVER, NEVER understand what a person with chronic pain goes through on a daily bases....

I am so sick of feeling like a third world citizen and a law breaker because I suffer from several medical condetions and chronic pain. I suffer in many other ways because of strict enforcement of these dangerous medications. All I want and deserve is fair treatment and to be treated with respect. I would much prefer medical cannabis to these dangerous perscriptions.

Take marijuna to control pain, they do work , you want pain medication, because they are dangerous drugs, and patient die due to patient karma drinking alcohol., doing illegal drugs , the doctor is charged with murder and losses his license. How you expect pain medications. The rules are there , just for show

I had a surgery that went terribly wrong. Had 3 more surgeries to try to help with no luck. I have nerve damage and it will never be fixed. Luckily I have a great doc that has kept me comfy so I can live my life. He recently told me if I need more than 4 pain pills a day I will have to go to pain management due to the DEA being all over doctors for treating. This is a crime, my own doc says it is. So, whilst the DEA is so worried about abuse they are forgetting those that TRULY have a need for pain control. When the doc has MRI's and u can obviously see the swelling why can't he or she prescribe what they need to? Why is the DEA doing this? Somebody has got to help because people can't live like this, it's disgusting to let a human being suffer.

I have been treated terribly by the pain management clinic that I was referred to for my chronic pain. I did not ask to go, but I am tired of suffering. I feel like I am going to see my parole officer. I don't mind the drug testing and I understand. But the attitudes of the FNP and PA are rude and uncaring. I know this is a lucrative business for chiropractors running these "pain clinics" I never see a doctor, only the sadistic nurse who uses my body as a pin cushion. The only way to receive pain medication is to subject to the steroid injections. It hurts and does not help. Please make the doctors and their staff to treat people in pain with caring and compassion. It's hard enough to be in lifelong pain, but treating me subhuman is despicable. Regards, Jan C

I am a vet of the 1rst Gulf War and have 100% disability for Gulf War Syndrome. I lived in NC and was prescribed narcotics for my pain, due to family and job situation - I am a single father of a 4 year old and my family lives in MN - I moved to MN. I was instantly treated like a drug addict!! I have now lived in MN for 4 years and still do not have proper pain control. I die a little bit every day inside when I can't do the things for my son that a father should do, instead I am lying on my bed in pain while he stands by it wanting me to play with him. The laws need to be changed so quality of life is as important as narcotic control. I don't believe in pill mills or going to doc and saying my back hurts and getting narcotics, but I also believe that after all non-narcotic drugs have been tried and don't work that narcotics should be prescribed and there should be no reprisals to the doctors. The doctors I see now is scared to prescribe as he says every prescription is looked at by the state and he could lose his lisense to be a doctor if that person decides it is too much. People are not cars, you don't run a couple of tests then say well he should be in this much pain and doesn't need narcotics. Two people can have the same tests results, mri or x-ray and have completly different pain levels. Pain is a personal issue that can't be diagnosed by reading a piece of paper. Please quit treating people in pain like second class citizens who are no good drug addicts. I am ashamed to say that I regret every day that I joined the Marine Corps. I now live in great pain every day because of it and get treated like a low life drug addict because I want some pain relief so I can be a father to my son.

I have suffered chronic pain for 7 years due to a surgery gone wrong. If I need narcotics, I need them for my pain. Those of us that suffer chronic pain are NOT drug seekers, we are in pain and need pain management.

Pain is not easy to live with and I see my DR every month. He is very understanding of my situation, an accident which left me with 4 surgeries including a broken back which is now fused and neuropathy which leaves me walking like a duck. I don't want sympathy I just want my DR, my pharmacy, and any others involved to allow me to have some quality of as much pain free living as I can. Yes, there are addicts they can go from ER to ER and get there meds or on the streets. Please allow the dignity to us that cant go thru a day without our pain meds. I would gladly change placed with an able bodied person any day. FDA regulations, really do we get a vote? There are already two drugs I can not receive because the cost is so high, now this. As a pain patient, I ask you to ask yourselves, does any of your family members suffer, what if it was you, or your loved one what would you do? Do not make the DR's feel guilty by helping us please I beg any of you to examine the situation and check the studies you have all of our emails, contact any of us if you really need any more doccumentation. I will more than happy to show all my Mri's, exrays, mylegrams, needle tests, blood work just to name a few. We are not junkies, please don't make us feel like we are..

I have two chronic, documented medical issues-one orthopedic, one neurologic-and have been on narcotic pain medicines for just over 2yrs. I am now on my 4th pharmacy, as the others have stopped carrying my meds. I had a pharmacy I was extremely happy with (they even delivered-wonderful for someone who cannot drive) but I was told by pain doc's RN that they aren't carrying schedule II narcotics anymore due to "FDA regulations" coming from their wanting to add a sterile lab to their compounding pharmacy. Thankfully, my pain doc has his office in an office bldg next to the hospital, so I am able to go there to get the prescriptions filled. I shouldn't have to keep jumping through hoops every few months! My doctor knows that I'm not getting relief but won't prescribe anything stronger either. I'm tired of being labeled by my doctor, I'm tired of not being able to even sit in my wheelchair more than a couple hrs a day AT BEST due to the pain. I guarantee if the right person lived in our shoes for even a day, things would change-QUICKLY.

I have also been very disturbed by this situation. My understanding of how medicine works is that prior to making a major change in how a diagnosis is treated, the new treatment approach undergoes research studies to determine the efficacy of the suggested change. Apparently, this whole procedure has been circumvented by an organization created to determine how to protect and support the patient, the FDA has become too politicized to carry out these professional responsibilities.
