I live with chronic pain every day of my life. I was referred to a pain clinic once and it ended up being a nightmare. I would rather my GP be able to help me because he knows everything that is going on with my health and my pain.

I have dealt with chronic pain for way too many years, and the most frustrating thing is to hear a doctor, who just wrote you a script for pain meds, say "good luck getting it filled". Are you kidding me? I cannot survive without some relief. It is not "all in my head", it is very real and very debilitating. Also, since my system does not react the same for narcotic meds as most people, I am sometimes seen as a drug seeking patient......not a person in major constant pain. I only want some relief; I do not want to be high, I have never taken more than the script says per day, I have never sold my meds, I have never lied to the doctors about anything, yet, I am treated as a criminal sometimes. I only want RELIEF!

Yea , i cant rind the medication iv been on for years , cause of all the addicss that misuse the drug (roxicontin) and no pharmacy carries them anymore for the same reason...the DEA is gonna force ppl to seek out other ways AKA illegal (herion) because of the discrimination , im young and have been in two head on collisions with no seat belt...and cant work , and the oxy is the only drug that helps...iv tried everything else , nothing works...now im no longer to get what i need cause the DEA bustin n on my dr who is the most friendly caring dr iv ever been to , now he cant give me my meds anymore....all i got to say is #*%$ the DEA for making me go through this pain...maybe they should b dealing with the real problems this country has...AKA METH , HERION , COCAIN...

Florida has turned into a state with no compassion for people suffering from chronic pain. I suffer from diabetic nerve damage and I am treated by a well-respected pain management doctor, BUT, I have had problems finding an internist because if a patient take pain medicine many doctors do not want them in their practice. PLUS, every month I say a prayer that I will be fortunate to get my pain medication from my pharmacy. Many times I have to go from one pharmacy to another in search of a pharmacy which has not been shut down by the DEA because their quota of pain medications have been obtained. Often I feel as if I am being treated as if I was a criminal seeking a drug fix. I can only pray that the politicians will someday have compassion for those suffering with pain day after day.

People in Florida who suffer from chronic pain are being treated as if they are criminals by doctors and pharmacists. Although I am fortunately treated by a respected pain management doctor, I have had difficulty finding an internist because a great many will not treat chronic pain patients and I have frequent difficulty getting my pain medicine from pharmacies because either the DEA has limited the amount of pain medicines they can dispense or they will not fill narcotic prescriptions because they are afraid of the DEA. The future is bleak for chronic pain suffers. Not only do we suffer physically and emotionally due to pain, but our government is adding to our suffering.

If you want to know whats going to happen consider this!!! The original OC was banned but the 30mg fast release oxycodone are still here. WHY NOT let the 10 and 20 mg OC still be RX ??? Hmmm? I watched the heroin market expload toward the end of Vietnam when we were leaving. We are now trying to leave the most productive area of heroin production(Afghanistan ) etc. I can assure you the message of what happened in Vietnam was not lost on those today in high places. All the evil ones did wrong in Vietnam was to not have a market waiting for them. Kick pain patients off their meds as we are leaving those countries and you have a market beyond imagination and you make them criminals to boot which is what the DEA thinks a lot of pain patients are already. Why? Jobs and $$$$ to support their family ,cars (forfeiture)homes, boats, tuition for their kids etc. If the DEA believes in it's so called righteous positions on the evils of drugs i.e., YOUR access to a pain free life, lets see them do it for free. If ya think the government woud never consider the Vietnam aspect just remember Ollie North, cocaine, guns etc. A market just waiting for them I say, just waiting. When there's hundreds and hundreds of millions to be made do you really think no one has looked at it? After all you're already where the heroin is and have had enough time to have made some serious connections and a plan. GOD help us because I don't think there is a DA* thing we can do about it. The players will remain well ensconsed within "security sensitive documents" never to see the light of day!

Just got done driving all over Jacksonville Florida with my nieghbor who is dying from cancer and is in constant pain. No pharmacy anywhere could fill a simple presciption because of DEA oversight at the distribution level. Not even the pharmacy's here in town are able to help this person. He is considering suicide and I think that is a crying friggin shame here in the freeist country in the world.

I had back surgery in 2006 to relieve a severe disc rupture. It worked great and I felt much better for a few years. But over the past 3 years my back has began to hurt more often. I began getting injections band those helped greatly for a while but now they barely last a month. I have to jump through hoops to get a prescription to help my pain, or just allow me to get some decent sleep. But in the past 2 years I am scared to even ask for anything and also scared that I will get my doctor in trouble. It's a joke that the dea is using a sledgehammer approach to the abuse problem when they should be using a scapula. This is our government at its finest though. The dea can't make a dent in street drugs so to maintain their relevance they turned to doctors and pain patients.

Someone in the VA in WI flagged for being a drug seeker. I just needed something to help get the kinks out of my neck and stop the headaches! I've had one surgery, second MRI next month, a 100 hours of therapy driving an hour an a half each way. They shot cortisone in to my nerves, probably a dozen x-rays rather then give me $20 worth of meds?

If they could only walk in our shoes for one day, maybe they would understand what we as Chronic Pain Patients go through everyday of our lives. So many people can't get it through their heads that Chronic Pain is a disease & it can cause so many other health problems such as high blood pressure, depression & much more. I am a 62 year old woman, I have 2 grown children, 2 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren & I have another grandbaby on the way, I would love to be able to go places & do things that grandma's do, however, if the Federal Government & our Politicians don't get out of my doctors way & let them prescribe the medication that I "need" not abuse, "need" I won't even be able to hold my new grandbaby. Is this what you really want? Shame on you!!
