Without my medication, I couldn't function, or even take care of myself! It's a shame how difficult it is to get treatment for pain that we need and deserve.

Please consider there are so many Chronic Pain Patients in this country. These patients have been diagnosed with untreatable, many times progressive deseases that make living any kind of normal or functional life impossible. I belong to several chronic pain support groups and the horror stories are unbelievable. Too many good doctors have stopped treating legitimate pain sufferers because of the regulations and stigma now attached to helping people to live some kind of life. i was diagnosed with a condition that i was told would never get better and i better learn to deal with the pain. that was before there were pain doctors and i can tell you from experiance that is no way to try to live your life. Please understand that there are so many people suffering who would rather never take meds that are destroyed by the few who abuse meds. Unless you have a condition that never will improve and never leaves you without pain, it is hard to understand. i do believe that meds are over prescribed to patients with a temporary condition. Patients that have conditons that will never improve are a completely different type of patient. when you decide to make it harder for doctors to help a truely suffering patient please interview or study the patients that the meds are intended for, not just the abusers. thank you

I have osteomyelitis, a very painful bone infection. When I was in the emergency department, I was ignored and laughed at being told "this is all you're going to get" and asking how long I have abused RX pain meds. I am a nurse at a nearby hospital and he was a doctor who had been practicing for only 6 mos. This is a real problem among the healthcare field because addicts are ruining it for everyone else.

I have had 2 mini strokes, slight Heart attack, fibermalgia, disk problems fatigue, migrians, thyroid problems, galcoma, lose balance and fall a lot.Have borderline for diebetic, mucles spasams, and a lot more problems,In pain all the time, plus my depression is really bad.I also lost my 37 year old daughter 2 years ago and with that ,I am just making day to day.I have had the same doctor for over 15 years, then have heart doctor and head doctor, now pain mangerment. It is so hard to find a doctor that really believes u and want 2 help you, when there are people out there shopping 4 doctors and drugstores. If any thing they need to quack down on the ERs,and make people have apea test when they go out there for just anything, all they are wanting is drugs.

I was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2011 Tumor is out but many side effects including some form of neuralgia in my jaw and teeth. I also have fibromyalgia and pelvic floor dysfunction from many years of endometriosis and ovarian remnants everyday I have to take pain medication along with muscle relaxer anti depressant and anxiety medication do I want to take all of these drugs?? Hell no but right now I have no choice!!! I have recently found myself a victim of this druggie mentality where as the pharmacist called my doctor and made up a story about me taking an anti anxiety medication already and getting more from my GP!!! Now the whole family practice wants to discharge me as a patient there and I did nothing wrong!!! I think they are all ( the doctors and pharmacist) afraid the government will shut them down why??? They are treating me for my health issues. I am not an addict!!!! Many people need their medication whether it is a narcotic or anti anxiety med to function with their health situation. I hope in the future I will be able to get off most of these medications but right now my body needs them. Signed frustrated and tired of being judged:(

Without proper pain control I wouldn't be able to work. Even with it, there are days where I can do very little. I have Ehlers-Danlos and there is no cure. Everyday my joints slip out of place. Please imagine living like that, always hurting, never knowing when a hip or knee or wrist will displace. As much as I hate taking the pain meds, I would hate being unable to do anything even more.

I am a chronic pain sufferer, by no choice of my own. Neither of those two car accidents were my fault and I am treated like a scumbag junkie because I've been told my multiple doctors that I will be on pain meds the rest of my life and my condition will only get worse as I get older; I am only 31. I am exhausted of being treated like an addict. I take my medicine EXACTLY as prescribed, have never asked for more, never lied and said it was stolen, and have never doctor shopped. Without pain medication, I would end up committing suicide and leave my children without a mother, my husband without a wife, and my mother without a daughter. I am in debilitating pain every single day of my life and I am tired of trying to find a doctor that WANTS to treat me like a human being and my conditions because they are in fear of YOU, the DEA. Yet, the government will hand out methadone to addicts, that actually gets them high for free!! Focus on the addicts, not those that are properly diagnosed. I am tired of being labeled. I am tired of not being able to be the mother I want to be. I am tired of asking for help with my children. I am tired of being depressed because I should have more medication, but my doctor is afraid to give it to me. I am tired of living in severe pain every single day of my life because of the addicts that have abused the system of badly that you are now taking it out on LEGITIMATE pain sufferers, like me and every single person that has signed this petition. You wouldn?t want to walk in my shoes (actually, I can barely walk at all); you wouldn?t want my life at all. STOP IT.

If not for my pain meds, after 3 MVA's and numerous surgeries I would not be able to do a thing everyday......so stop it, damn it.

I get pain medication and without it, I could not live with my pain. It is most unfortunate that many chronic pain sufferers do not get the pain medication they need.
