I plead with our government to stay out of my medical records. When we need an antibiotic we get it for an infection, but when we need pain medication for REAL problem we are told to take OTC meds. Why have narcotics if patients cannot get them? In Dayton Ohio a company owned by a Kettering Hospital doctor has a program that shows a persons medication history through pharmacies and gives a person a score of likely drug abuse. So if you have had many surgeries like me then you have a high score and doctors refuse to give you any pain meds. I feel that doctors do not care anymore

The war on drugs should always be limited by a do no harm approach--prosecuting criminals should come second to ensuring access for legitimate patients. Otherwise, we create criminals out of good people in terrible circumstances.

I am first a woman, second a "patient" with chronic pain. My first and foremost complaint in all the vast research and methods scientists, chemists etc have at their disposal, why is it that opiates are almost the only method of pain control widely available? Mysecond gripe is people who abuse the very medications that help with my pain! I hear people in stores etc, not just young people either that are all excited that marijuana may become legal!! MEDICAL MARIJUANA for sick people who need it, not for you bottom eaters that just want to abuse it. There is a big difference!

I was a prescribing pain physician in the state of ohio. They have made it a police state and will trump up any charge possible and make allegations to shut down practices. Look me up, Dr Adam Hall. There are no issues regarding my competency, just allegations of wrong-doing that are not related to the practice of medicine and are completely untrue. We live in a police state and I too suffer from pain. It's miserable. Go to change.org and sign my petition. I will also be posting another petition against the state for wrong-doing and malicious prosecution. Please sign it as well.

The DEA failed in their so-called, "War on Drugs," so they need a scapegoat in order to justify their existence (i.e., to keep the taxpayer dollars rolling-in). As a result, they declared war on law-abiding doctors and chronic pain patients who are often too tired and weary to fight back. Shame, shame, shame on the DEA and every doctor who kowtows to that UNELECTED agency that has NO RIGHT to be dictating medical or health policy, period. A DOCTOR'S FIRST AND FOREMOST CONCERN SHOULD BE HIS PATIENTS AND THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE AND WELL-BEING...NOT WHAT THE DEA, "WANTS." What a world....

My Primary Care Doctor was just fired. I received a note from his practice telling me that if I went into withdrawals, that I was to go to the emergency-room immediately. This prompted at two month long search to find a new doctor. I was lucky to have a psychologist who cared enough to help me find a new doctor. I ended up becoming a patient of her third recommended doctor. I was able to ration medication out to avoid this potential problem. My quality of life decreased during this time. I still count myself lucky that I beat out the ever ticking clock this time. Things must change. I may not be so fortunate the next time around and many aren't as lucky as I have been in finding a sympathetic doctor. I truly fear for the other pain-patients that were under my former doctor's care.

Like other petitioners, I have been subjected to abuse because I am in chronic pain. This is intolerable. I vote, and I will be speaking out and encouraging others to respect and advocate for the rights, privacy, and effective treatment of those of us who suffer from chronic pain.

I am very tired of being unnecessarily tortured because of the faux " war on drugs "...it's really a war on the most vulnerable in our society....the sick, disabled, & the elderly ( who are too busy trying to survive to fight back !!! ) This is an unacceptable intrusion into medical care by the government ...this does NOT fall under any category of one of their 3 jobs !!!

DEA u say u r not to blame, but u r. U have placed fear in everyone involved in pain management. I compare u to Hitler. I never wished chronic pain on anyone, but I do now. I wish it on all of u. We r not drug addicts. Fix this problem now. Give us back our medication.

I have 4 forms of arthritis and have chronic pain. I have also had bariatric surgery and therefore am unable to take "anti-inflammatory drugs except Tylenol. I am not an abuser. I just want to be able to do daily activities like everyone else. Like being able to button my clothes without pain. thank you very much.

It amazes me that in the year 2014, with all the advances in medicine/healthcare, pain control is still treated the same way. Throw a pill, shot, nerve shocks at it. Seems to me, something else should be done with all the people in pain. People are living longer, they are going to be in more pain. More research into alternative treatment needs to be done.
