"If" and thats a big IF the laws change back to be able to receive care for chronic pain, then what will the government do? Put you on a waiting list? The DAMAGE that has been done is probably not reversible. Way to go!

I have practiced internal medicine for 46 years. The restrictions on pain medicine for chronically ill patients forces me undertreat patients who would benefit from more pain control. The patient wants to resume gainfully employment and family involvement but cannot because his pain is still debilitating. This violates my moral and religious beliefs. It is very difficult to continue to practice medicine under this type of restriction.

It's terrible. Doctors and nurses are expected to fall in line and do what they're told to do by people who don't have medical degrees. They fear losing their licenses. The person who pays for that fear is the patient. It needs to stop. The doctors and medical workers have power in numbers and I often wonder why they don't lobby. Doesn't the pharmaceutical world have a huge lobby> Why don't they fight for the patients who suffer so much daily? This is ridiculous, and no government should be able to tell a human being what to put in their body, regardless of addiction. There will always be addicts, it's a disease, but if you don't have it, you don't have it! Somebody stop the madness before we can't get any meds at all and have to live lives filled with daily pain. Imagine that, if you care to. DAILY PAIN, 24/7. Ugly, isn't it?

I had a great doctor at a VA hospital who treated me for chronic pain caused by two near fatal auto wreaks and a left and right shoulder operation. My doctor retired in February, 2013 and I have had a very difficult time finding a decent doctor would treat my chronic pain for fear he or she would be targeted for prescribing too many pain med prescriptions. A doctor should never be concerned how he treats a patient as long as he or she has adequate proof via of an MRI, etc., that a patient has a real need to be treated with pain meds for exceedingly high pain levels. I tried to decrease my pain meds at one time, I even stopped taking them altogether at one time. However, after taking over the counter meds (i.e. motrin, etc.). for about 7 months, I had a rupture below my stomach and almost bleed to death. I was rushed to the hospital, had emergency surgery, costing the US Government well over $20,000 dollars, because I am a veteran and did not live close to a VA Hospital, so I was rushed to a local pubic hospital. Sincerely, JC

I have been fighting a botched up dental problem for two years. From neurologist to neurologist I finally found a wonderful doc. that was really interested in my suffering. We tried a new form of treatment called PSTIM unfortunately it did not work for me but I tried I left docs office with two prescriptions, pharmacy would only fill one because the DEA thinks it is too much pain medication. I would love for the DEA to come live 24 hours in my body after 3 they would gladly allow me to have my medication. I did not ask to be put in this horrendous amount of pain I don't want to live the rest of my life on pain medication but I do want some quality of life. That is what my doc is trying to do for me why want yall let me have my medicine

Wow! Talk about 'in your face' interference from the Fed (DEA) with the patient/doctor relationship. Ditto with my experience. I was a public school science teacher until I had a botched low-back surgery over summer break in 2002. This neurosurgeon, Dr. Mark Erasmus, in Albuquerque somehow managed to cause an "incidental rent" in my spinal cord during the surgery. This is how doctors describe a gross screw-up. Anyway, eight weeks later I had new and worsening pain symptoms appear and a new MRI in Novermber described exactly what I now had: arachnoiditis. The radiologist put that down on his report; of course at the time I had no idea what arachnoiditis was. Over the intervening eleven years, I have come to know exactly what arachnoiditis is, its causes, its symptoms, its prognosis, and that it is incurable and causes intractable neuropathic pain. I am lucky in that I injured my lower back playing football as a teenager and I became use to terrible back pain long before contracting arachnoiditis. Lucky..... now with the DEA messing around with the physicians who try to provide medical care for their patients. This is inded a whole new wrinke - thank you MR. GOVERNMENT.

I understand many doctors are being pressured not to give pain medicine. That is no reason to not offer other ideas for pain relief. I have been treated so badly by doctors that assume the worse. How about finding out what is wrong with me, perhaps to stop the pain. I told my doctor that I was having extreme pain in my stomach and between my shoulder blades. Nothing is wrong! He said. Finally he agreed to an ultrasound. I had gallstones and was in surgery the following week. The DEA needs to pay attention to the heroin problem. It would be easier for me to get that! However, I am a taxpayer that works a full time job that is trying to cope with chronic pain. I can find several documentaries on how people "pop pills". I can barely find one that discusses how people live in chronic pain. Society has made the management of pain into a modern taboo. So we suffer in silence. This petition is a good start. I know there are good doctors out there that do care. The DEA has no right to be involved in my healthcare. PERIOD. This is an infringement on my rights by the Federal government on many levels. I hope more people stand up about this. If there was ever a march upon Washington, this is it. Discrimination solely based upon my health is atrocious. The DEA needs to stop penalizing normal hard working Americans for the crimes committed against others. Hell, it takes almost a DNA sample to get sinus medicine. The problem is ( I believe the government is fully aware of this) that a lot of us are too busy coping with pain to actually speak up. Would a cancer patient have to be treated this way? Would the DEA restrict cancer meds, because it could be used for something illegal? Oh, I am sure that would go over well. ( Note my sarcasm) I have heard it directly from doctors that they are basically scared out of prescribing. I hope doctors will have the nerve to stand up for patients by signing this. I don't want to be over medicated. I would like to have more options for pain relief. Injections, massage, non narcotic medicine, just to name a few. The crappy treatment by some doctors only made me feel much worse. It made me feel hopeless. We deserve hope. Dogs are treated better. We need to pressure lawmakers into noticing this problem. If we have to suffer because of politics, then we need to stand up to the mayhem in Washington and your State Capitol. Chronic pain sufferers need an advocate. We need hope and support. Our government has gone too far. Something needs to change. Read your patient rights note that you get from your doctors office. "You deserve to be treated with dignity and respect". I had one doctor yell at me because I had a kidney infection. I had went to pain management way before that and stopped going due to insurance reasons. It was awhile after, and he refused to treat me. Not even nausea medicine. Since when did nausea medicine become the next heroin? There are a lot of us out there. With the recent issues with healthcare, there is no be

I was blackballed in my city becuz my drs ego got hurt when he prescribed a med which was a morphine related drug and he was gone for 3 days when I got violently ill from it and called my pharmacist who confirmed it was morphine related when the dr knew I was allergic. There4 he said quote I don't trust him so he no longer trusts me and now no PM dr will see or treat me as I am officially on their s*#t list even tho only 25% of my lifelong medical records are 165pages long and I am extremely legit as a severe chronic pain sufferer who has exhaused everything medically possible and only oxycodone works for me and benzos! If suicide was legal I would rather be dead than to suffer wth 5or6 major pain diseases which hve bedridden me for 18yrs now and reduced me to more tears as an adult than I had ever shed as a small child and then age 9 when I had my first two of now 23 total surgeries at age 57 incl a failed hip replacement whch has been loose for 18yrs, four failed spine surgeries incl bad fusions n spinal menangitis, vulvadynia, torn rotator cuff n fibro. Plus ptsd from waking up during spine surgery. Id rather be reliant on opiods n lose 5yrs of life than live in a burning hell like I do daily in a rundolwn broken hosp bed in my livingroom, unable to function than to live even one yr longer wthout meds. I ask God daily to pls just take me.

The DEA is not licensed to practice medicine. The DEA & CIA are the main suppliers of illegal drugs and manufacturer of illegal drugs throughout the entire world.. Research INTERPOL! In 1995 they publicly stated that they manufactured methamphetamine for medical research and other purposes. Further, it was corrupt then and much worse now. Just because those in Congress and Washington lie, does not mean we accept those lies or the injustice that spews from anywhere they set their heart to pilfer! All of this legislation was done without any patient input! That is injustice at its normal process! The illegal drug trade is not enough, they desire the profits of the pharmaceutical industry now, and continue to imagine more ways to rape the people of their money! I care not what the reason they claim brings this legislation is about, the truth of the matter is; it is about control, money and establishing the New World Order just as Bush Sr, spoke of so often during his presidency. At present they try to claim only conspiracy nuts think that. The reason they the use the conspiracy theory excuse or accusation, is because so many uneducated people buy into it. People accept it because they are afraid to stand up and say what they think for fear of being ridiculed. Unstable and uneducated people are afraid to stand up and speak truth. They fail to realize it is the best weapon they have!

When the DEA was first put together it was a perfect way to stop illegal drugs from getting into the USA and being distributed to the major city's of this gr8 country. But! to much is to f---n much. know they r labeling people on medications prescribed by there DRs as criminals. Seems since MJ(we all know Michael) committed suicide and his dr went to jail for MJs stupidity the drs r now afraid to prescribe the necessary meds there patients need to get by on a daily basis. Is a shame that an government agency can screw up so bad that these people have to turn to the street 4 illicit drugs such as heroin. the attorney gen. came on tv and blamed the citizens for the outbreak of heroin addiction when he knows plain and simple fact is the government agency the KGB...oops my bad I meant DEA has cracked down on the drs so bad they r running scared and the pharmacies will not fill the scripts the drs order.so much for do no harm we need to put a stop to this madness now )the DEA needs to get out of dr patient relationships

It seems that there is another epidemic going on due to this lack of physician Hippocratic oath of due no harm!! Well what do we call it when they leave the elderly and disabled without there medication. The DEA has no business in this aspect of medicine since when did they become a doctor? Patients and their DR's are supposed to be a confidentiality issue so why is the DEA/KGB Nazis from the WW2 era. Why are they interfering with DR/PATIENT confidentiality causing more harm to people with chronic pain issues that cant be addressed with other methods than what was supposed to be between DR./Patient. Now I am made to feel like a criminal when I try to get my meds which have been cut back so severely that I am still in pain. The Pharmacy's have declined to fill my prescriptions due to the involvement of the DEA!! What the hell, since when did America become the land of not being able to see your doctor and fill your prescriptions become a crime? I live in a smallish town about 40,000 most of which are elderly and veterans of both WW2 and Vietnam actually the one of the highest number of Vietnam veterans the country. Let alone elderly, all of which has been left in withdrawals at one time or another due to DEA involvement in our personal DR/PATIENT relationship!!!! STOP THIS MADNESS OR YOU THE DEA WILL BE DRIVING OLD FOLKS AND PERMANENTLY DISABLED AND OTHERS TO GO TO THE STREETS AND BUY HERION!!! I THINK OUR TAX DOLLARS COULD BE BETTER SPENT! I HOPE THIS GETS TO SOME IDIOT ON THE HILL..... HOPEFULLY OUR GREAT PRESIDENT WILL STOP THIS COW DUNG.

The DEA claims that it's the Doctors fault and the Pharmacies fault for not filling your prescriptions? THATS A FLAT OUT LIE. So once again a federal Agency THE DEA is LYING through their mouths about this. I am honored to sign this petition. We need our voices heard in Washington. We deserve justice from this injustice.
