I have multi-level disc degeneration, mild scoliosis, fibromyalgia and possible lupus or RA. Just began seeing rheumatologist. I am in constant pain that keeps me from sleeping, wakes me up several times a night. I have multiple allergies including several antibiotics, aspirin, NSAIDS, and too many others to list. (I gave a list of tested allergens from two different allergist to the rheumatologist) I also have a 6 year old. I have now been ethically abused by a doctor who is unwilling to prescribe anything I can take. I am not and never have been a drug addict. I do other measures to alleviate my pain. Ice, heat, hot and icy patches, anything I can think of to help. I feel this is way past wrong and medically unethical that because I am "young"(I am 46) that I cannot get medication to relieve my pain.

I spend most of my life lying on my left side because it's too painful to sit up or stand. I can't walk without my pain meds. I absolutely hate the fact that I need them, without them I'd be better off dead because the pain is so intense and unrelenting. My doctor told me last week that I'm no longer welcome there and treated me like a dog. This is what I get on top of being handicapped. Thanks DEA.

They pick and attack the weakest the sick and the old. Why don't the DEA go after the real bad guys the ones with guns and the cartels. NOT the people who have worked their whole lives and raised a family or two. The worst part is the way they slander and abuse you. By attacking your good name it makes your destruction and pain seem less real. By attacking the Good Doctors they have opened the door to substandard Docs from over seas who dont care about women or their rights. How can a Doctor be in Egypt and in 6 years be the head of a major hospitals Pain Management Clinic? How desperate they must be.

War on What? The victim often forgotten Sadly fumbles for the light Its Mary, age 60 in Ohio In the War on Drugs fight Men who have never met her Seemingly do-gooder politicians up for re-election Line up to the crowd in business suits She feels sick like an infection She?s laid in bed for a week Hasn?t showered in two They cut half of her pain meds there's nothing she can do Copays and treatments left her broke Tried everything, PT and all your injections She can?t work now, lost most her friends Leaves her feeling sick like an infection Pictures of smiles and faraway places Lined in frames of the past She makes tentative plans As it could be her last Mary worked twenty years in healthcare Until her battle with pain won the fight She watches the suits on TV War on Heroin yells reporters drenched in light Pharmacy and Dr?s treat Mary like a con Heroin becomes easier to get, her pain meds cut to threads She just wants to be able to WALK Not run from the law or the feds! The victim often forgotten The pain steals her body In the war on drugs fight Crying and confused she turns off the light. What about the Chronic pain sufferers, especially the ones with an armful of documented proof of their pain? They trusted Doctors who medicated their pain for years and years. Now the DEA?s threats and politicians (i.e. DeWine and Kasich) up for re-election have stepped in to cut Chronic Pain Sufferers pain meds that they use to function day to day?. While Heroin gets cheaper and easier to get? what war are they fighting? Cyn A. Dayton,OH 5-6-2014

My wife was in PM for 16 months with good results. A new Doctor took over her care by cutting her med in half. Thirty days latter cut in half again. This idiot is in charge of the whole pain management department at the biggest health care provider in SW Virginia. Has been in practice for 3 yes 3 years also from the Country of Egypt. Called my wife a LAZY AMERICAN WOMAN he is a hater of women and a true idiot.

Dear person/puppet master/person with my life (& many other innocent/suffering people) in your hands, I've been going to a pain management clinic for 6 years. I am 46 and have severe Arthritis over 80% of my body, Degenerative Disc Disease, bulging discs, Fibromyalgia, Spondalosis, restless leg syndrome, nerve damage, torn Trapezeis muscle, and have a tumor on my hip, severe Sciatica (in hip that makes pain go down my leg making foot numb) My Dr. had tried different pain medicines, Tramadol, Darvocet, and Vicodin. After awhile my body got used to the Vicodin and it ceased being useful. I was sent to a pain clinic and was put on Methadone and finally experienced relief for my daily pain. Over the first year my dose was increased to 60 mg of Methadone and I've been on this for 5 years. In the last year It wasn't working as well as it once did but I never asked that it be raised. I did not take the medicine every day but FINALLY MY LIFE WAS controlled by the pain all over my body!! My pain was partially caused by working for eleven years on a psychiatric unit- being very physical in patient "take downs" when they were violent, carrying patients. I worked as a Nursing Asst, having to carry patients, roll them. Finally on the Methadone I could CLEAN my house on a regular basis, I could exercise, I could do things normal people do!!! Three months ago The staff at the pain clinic I go to in Dayton, OH said that the FDA was cracking down on pain medicine and I had to chose whether I would receive one less Methadone a day or they would take me off the Percocet they were giving me for break through pain. Because the Percocet never really helped I chose that. The next month I came in I was told they were decreasing my Methadone by 1 pill a day anyway. The next month they reduced it by another pill. I went from 30 Percocet a month and 180 methadone to 90 methadone a month and no Percocet. I feel my body probably really got used to being on 60mgs of Methadone and now I'm in more pain than when I started going to the pain clinic. I was told the FDA doesn't want anyone to be on more than the equivalent of 60 mg of Morphine a day. I'm wondering HOW is this effective for EVERY pain patient? I know several male patients who just have a "bad back" yet they're okay to do construction every day and I've not been able to work since September because I'm in so much pain. Why is the same amount of medicine appropriate for all patients? I've never taken any other medicine, have never failed a random drug test, etc. yet I'm treated the exact same as other patients. We all hear about the tragic Heroin problem in Dayton, OH and I'm wondering when the problem will ONLY GET WORSE when they feel hopeless/helpless and DESPERATE FOR RELIEF? I would think it would think a regulated, monitored, controlled METHADONE would be much more safe than someone who in their lives had NEVER tried a street drug in their lives trying HEROIN & overdosing. It seems

I do all kinds of complimentary treatments and try any natural substance I hear about to help my Fibro, degenerative disc etc. i take deliberate periods with very limited narcotic meds to keep from developing a tolerance. I still am made to feel like a criminal. If I couldn't get the Norco I take, I wouldn't even be able to be a part of my granddaughter's lives. I also have elderly parents to care for. I also have IBS and NSAIDS ruin my gut and then I am disabled from that. I have to plan my entire life around my flares and symptoms. It is a terrible way to live. True, in Oklahoma there are many abusers but what the DEA has done is OVERKILL as usual. They are hurting so many innocent and suffering people. I am a sixty -year-old woman. I am NOT A CRIMINAL!

THE NEEDS OF THE MANY OUTWEIGH THE NEEDS OF THE FEW. That is the way all medical protocols work. For a tick bite, the protocol is actually allow to lyme disease in a small minority rather than giving 1 single dose of doxycycline that would kill the disease because why GI upset to 1000's to only cure 10. Not so with Pain Meds. You penalize the overwhelming majority by requiring monthly visits and no refills, and flat out denials of medication. Doing great financial harm to 97% of those suffering so 3% wont abuse drugs? A simple study can show it is the Pill mills that local governments allowed to thrive that have done the most damage. Requiring people who no history of abuse to suffer to change the behavior of a small % of degenerates who most likely turn to heroin when the supply is gone. These policies are completely backwards.

Chronic pain patients are treated like common drug addicts in Mississippi. Doctors refuse to properly treat us, which makes it impossible to live a productive life and the emotional aspect of being treated like a criminal is leading to patients wanting to take their own lives. Stop this ridiculous war on pain meds...people die from alcohol poisoning and overdoses, but I don't see the Feds cracking down on alcohol sales.

We are becoming more worried about saving lives of drug addicts that typically choose their hell while letting those who have not chosen their hell fall through the cracks by making them pay for those who abuse the system. Mangy mutts in second rate animal shelters are often treated more humanely than those of us with chronic pain and/or those who are terminally ill. The "War on Drugs" has turned into the "War on Chronic Pain Sufferers & Terminally Ill". Time for "Plan B". While society is trying to save the lives of those who don't care to be saved...those of us begging to be saved and whose only "crime" is being ill will end up dying or killing ourselves because we have no proper pain care management options. How is trading one death toll for another "progress"?

I find it unfair and cruel that the D.E.A. is restricting and scaring doctors into not prescribing pain medication! This seems to me like it is violating doctor/patient confidentiality, am I wrong? My own misfortune is that I already take pain medication for chronic pain, and, have a high tolerance for pain medication. I have recently had surgery with 9.5cm by 5cm by 4cm hole in my bum with a wound vac attached and frequent dressing changes which are brutal. Knowing that I have a high tolerance for pain medication, doctors are reluctant to give me strong enough pain medication to help me because of fear that the D.E.A. will come after them, NOT FAIR AND SUFFERING!
