How sad it is that the government has completed castrated doctors in this country to the point that they are not able to properly treat american citizens to the best of their abilities. Not everyone asking for help with their chronic pain is a current addict, doctor shopping or opiod seeking. Shame on the government. I have lost faith in our government, our medical and mental health departments due to the lack of the ******** going on

I'm working with the CDC regarding this Opioid medication issues here in TN. I am a severe chronic pain sufferer and over the last 2.5 months had my meds basically cut in half. I can't function due to pain, if I can sleep its only 3 hours at a time when I'm not up all night due to pain. The CDC states its a guidelines and voluntary and NOT a law. Pain doctors are in fact ignoring our pain management quality of life since we're on higher medication. These doctors are to work with us and give our meds back if they've dropped us 30% and each time our pain levels are 10++. The law is not stating everyone has to be under 200 mgs of pain medication but rather a lot of people can, especially for the newer pain persons out there. So the CDC did tell me doctors are not properly trained in this area, so makes them scared shitless of giving the proper higher amounts for us severe chronic pain persons, who are getting more and more left out, no quality of life, a lot of suicides, folks turning to heroine. Like KY they've had a 30% heroine overdoses since this so called guidelines was put into force in February. I've printed highlighted everything of importance from the CDC to show my PMD this month because my life has no quality of life, since I can't function due to pain and nothing, nothing gives me relief. Yet I fear my PMD will be truly upset with me and kick me out of their practice. I live in a very, very rural area and only two PMD in the area of 50 mile radius. Another problem is us severe chronic pain persons with high medication are flagged in national database. So what, if it works for us to have quality of life, to keep pain level at 5-7 daily. Problem is a lot of PMD are fairly new never experienced chronic pain so they don't know anything but text books. So that's where I'm at with my chronic pain medication and PMD. This newer system has totally left us severe chronic pain persons left in the dark with no help. There are numerous doctors, DEA and CDC are aware of this but also don't know what to do with doctors.

Victim of this myself! At 26 I gave birth to my daughter, my bones and joints began to hurt, then my feet and continued throughout my body. My doctor prescribed pain medication and then after about a year he left. The other doctor in the clinic told me that my pain would go away or at least be manageable if I went to drug treatment. Mind you not one scan or any blood work had been done so far. As a young mother suffering from pain and all that goes with it I was desperate. I agreed to try anything! I went to "treatment". It didn't help. Although the medical information followed me for the next 15 years and I walked around being labeled a drug seeker/addict by medical professionals as well as my own family. After more than a decade and many reprocussions I found a R.A. M.D. PhD who did the scans, blood work etc and treated me with dignity and respect. I have many types of arthritis, DDD, DMD, Systemic Lupus, Fibro... Now after almost 13 years of treatment my doctor is retiring. So once again I am reliving being labeled and not treated. I am unable to work, I have no income, my husband has passed, my children have suffered. What options are available for people who hurt, who don't sleep or sleep too much, fall into a pit of chronic depression and are told to get help? Where? How? It's obvious some people really do not matter...

I am 59 yrs. old and without my pain meds I would not be able to have any quality of life. I've had all the multiple tests, x-rays, dr. visits. It's all documented multiple times. But now the game is going to be different and I'm not being told the rules. Figures it would be this way. For someone else's benefit I suppose. I know the only 2 choices I have will be suicide or obtaining them illegally. That will be a fun day when you see me on the street in my wheelchair trying to buy meds. Ha! I have great doctors who say they have no control. Who's going to stand for me? I can't stand. Who cares about my pain? No one. I have become a statistic that someone says is a problem. Have they felt my pain 24/7? Have they hurt so bad that after no sleep for 3 days the muscles hurt just like a beating with a bat? Please government listen to this old RN who is not addicted but has taken care of patients for 30 + years. Would you just stop and listen? You're hurting the wrong group.

I am going to have to go on permanent disability due to not getting a doctor to help me with chronic pain. I have been treated like a liar even though I have MRI and other tests to validate my extreme pain. I am only 52 yrs old and when on pain meds I could work and function. I can no longer work or do a thing with out the meds.

The pending legislation will have the opposite of the desired intent. Limiting or capping pain medication prescriptions will force chronic pain patients to the illicit drug market to find the medication they need for pain relief. Patients that have become addicted after long term use suddenly no longer to obtain prescriptions will turn to heroin or worse. Legislators are not medical doctors and should not be making medical decisions for their constituents. Pay attention to the research done so far, statistically states that have allowed medical cannabis see far fewer deaths. Legalized medical cannabis also takes the money from the gangs and cartels and puts it to use to fund schools and other good causes. The Justice department takes the opposite view possibly still under the effects of the propaganda of decades past. Please look at this issue logically and do what makes sense.

just fyi .....I take Percocet....after being diagnosed with fibromyalgila, rheumatoid arthritis, degenerative joint disease, diabetes, major depression, anxiety attacks and panic disorder. I have arthritis so bad in my spine they could not insert a needle for an epidural for surgery. My knees are so deteriorated, I fall frequently when my leg gives out. I don't sleep because I have the same problem with my hips. I can only lay down for so long win the medication wears off I have to get up. I have limited mobility, can't stand for more than maybe 10 minutes on a good day, cant sit for too long or my joints get stiff. Cant lay for too long because of my hips and back. CALLING ALL POLITICIANS AND DOCTORS TO WALK A MILE IN MY SHOES AND DEAL WITH MY PAIN. IN MY CASE WALK 10 FEET IN MY SHOES. BET YOU CANT DO IT. And now my doctor told me today it is the governments goal to get everyone off of pain medication. I told her there will be a big backlash....and I think there will be

I'm so sick and tired of hearing false reports on the nightly news of people overdosing on opiates and making it sound like it was pain medication that they overdosed on. NEWS MEDIA, when people hear opiate they think pain meds, not heroin. According to government numbers about 125000 overdosed on opiates last year but over 90000 of them were heroin not pain meds. A little over 33000 overdosed on pain meds not 125000! And of those 33000 pain med overdoses 80 percent overdosed on meds not prescribed to them. So that means that a little over 6600 people overdosed on pain meds that were prescribed to them. 6600 people isn't a sexy number for the media though, after all, that's only about 150 people per state. And don't let anyone fool you when they say that the reason that heroin use is on the rise is because people can't get pain meds anymore because according to the state of Oregon only about 3 percent go from pain meds to heroin. They act like they care about lives but they're covering up for the love of they're lives, our former President Obama. Obamacare says they care about lives but they really care about one thing, MONEY! Pain meds are expensive and Obamacare couldn't afford it. You want proof, look at these pain clinic start dates. I think if you look, you will find that 95 percent of them started their business about the same time Obamacare took effect in Oct. of 2013. DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE! PAIN MED OVERDOSES ARE NOT THE PROBLEM THE MEDIA IS REPORTING! GOVERNMENT, STAY OUT OF OUR HEALTHCARE AND OUT OF OUR DOCTORS LIVES! And President Trump, repeal Obamacare and don't worry about replacing it!

I have so much supporting documents test, I only took Norco and it is all the new medicines that people are shooting and snorting not the old ones like Lorcet or Norco or just plain Percocet. They say it is an epidemic but not with the medicines I listed it is when they came out with Oxycotin. Then they want you to get on Suboxone that is worse and is not suppose to be used in patients who only take meds listed. Now I do not know any DR. in Texas South East. Dr Harris thinks he's God and wants you to beg him. Sorry 55 and would rather be in pain

I am forced to have mandatory health care against my will . I am forced to suffer in pain against my will . I have been denied surgery until pain is managed ? All doctors I have seen said my pain needs managed . No longer looking for a doctor or I would be labeled against my will as a drug addict . Why are these politicians pretending to be doctors and the dea not arrested for practicing medicine with out a license ? This is supposed to be AMERICA , equal opportunity pain needs treatment as well as addiction I do believe it should be up to doctors and patients as the form of treatment not politicians and the police . This war on drugs violates human rights as well my civil rights .

I began experiencing sharp pain and stiffness in my right hand. This pain always occurs in the morning and may not go away. I thought that I hurt my hand somehow but I could not remember what I did. I also began to experience extreme fatigue and malaise. About 4 months later, I went to the doctor and after many repeat blood tests to rule out Lyme disease and Lupus, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). I was adjusting to the medications Plaquenil and methotrexate, but they make me feel sick also. I had a ringing in my ears and loss of appetite. I sometimes had problems writing, dressing, or writing with my right hand. When the medication no longer helps, i was introduced to Health herbal clinic in Johannesburg who have successful herbal treatment to rheumatoid arthritis diseases. I spoke to few people who used the treatment here in United States and they all gave a positive response, so i immediately purchased the rheumatoid arthritis herbal remedy and commenced usage, i used the herbal supplement for only 5 weeks, all symptoms gradually faded away, herbs are truly gift from God. contact this herbal clinic via their email healthherbalclinic @ gmail. com or visit www. healthherbalclinic. weebly. com

I couldn't have written that better myself even if I tried. Thoughts like these run through my mind alot. After a hard life and way to much playing when much younger. Things begin to ache and burn. Some jobs in life aren't very easy on you either. I have taken a lot of pain in my life and grinned an bared it. In plain English that means to turn the other cheek. I am one of those patients that went from middle class citizen to totally bottom of the barrel piece of shit!! I suffer from many different kinds of pain and they won't give me anything for any of it and I think I am old enough to make that decision on my own. How in the ______ would he know how much pain you were in is he inside you? Just because I can still move around with out looking like I am in pain doesn't mean I'm not. Some people can tolerate more pain than others and I also don't want people to know I'm in pain I don't want them to feel like I can't do something or can't help out. I guess I also am very stubborn to grow old there is to much to do and see in this world I also like to enjoy things that I get into not bring everyone down because I'm hurting no one else is and if they are there doing a great job hiding it. My best friend was in pain constantly and she went with me everywhere and we only *****ed to each other how bad the pain was we didn't let people around us really know the whole truth. That when we can get away with it we slip in a whole day just laying on our asses watching TV and napping. Then the pain she had carried so long now and the blows we take from the outside world and her husband wanting a divorce sent her over the edge and I mean over the edge she committed suicide just before her 27th wedding anniversary in a very horrific car accident and she had took her husband in the car with her and her last words were your on the ride from hell and I'm the devil see you in hell and she turned the car into the steep ditch and her side slammed into the culvert and then they rolled over in the air and came down on the drivers side and my friend was pinned under it from the shoulders down. And Her husband is still alive and well just a broken shoulder. But I can not blame her the world is a very harsh place and can sometimes drag you down further and further till you snap. I can really relate with her we really understood each others pains and the ignorance of the Doctors in this damn one horse town. They have become so bad here people sometimes drive four hours just to see a doctor with just a little bit of a brain that is four hours one way only so total of eight hours to get a little relief. Why??? We should be able to make up our own minds only we can see and hear them no one else.

As I look through other comments I see this has escalated to an out of control situation. Why do we allow the government to get between a doctor and their patient. I feel like I'm living in a horror movie. I can barely get out of bed anymore, rarely spend time with my family, never see friends. This is because my doctor has been directed to ignore medical records and take my meds to level that makes the pain unbearable. Stay out of my life CDC, DEA, etc. I'm looking for an attorney that will take this case. I'm n p.o. t some young punk drug dealer. I am a 60 year old woman who suffers every minute of every day! I don't even mind the monthly pill count, urine test, doctor visit. Yes, it's humiliating but I'm willing to jump through these hoops just for my meds. AND still they have cut me to a unmanageable amount!! HELP any ideas?

My medical records and evidence for treatment is/are immense. I am stage two-three liver failure with a whole bunch of titanium pins holding me together... along with sever RA after contracting HepC thanks Uncle Sam for my service as a Medic. As I contemplate how I'm treated, or rather how I am not being treated anymore, I ponder the two, not just one, drunk drivers who have hit me- nothing is done about that... yet, the drinks flow while I suffer. The DEA is a joke- tried to actually help them catch people malingering and getting pain medication- when I called the number the DEA agent 'SONNY' answered in a whisper... he was Elk Hunting and was going to get back to me- "SONNY"-never did, Besides, how would that have helped?... the person trying to sell me their medications was long gone. I'm sick of it, poor counter/operations run by an agency who has never 'won a drug war'. By the way what is a drug war? Is it big government. Wars they don't' go so well... you shold be careful what you ask for. In-fact one wonders about these supposed 'wars on drugs'. I think it's a war on pain patients and that the DEA and Congress knew exactly that the CDC paper used to argue this case was... it was and is an academic sham. Most of the DNC appointed CDC personnel were Obama's lackeys and when you look at the money- follow the money... it seems pretty clear some folks are getting the cashola payout. There's another potentially evil aspect to all of this. Whether we are; seniors, military Veterans or just hard working folks, or... even accident victims- if we die a whole lot of people get ahead. Yep, suicide is way up... but no-one wants to look at that DAT. CDC ???.That sounds pretty morbid, but no one is standing up for us- no one cares enough to stand up for us/with us...the people who are truly suffering and needed these medications to live a reasonable functional life. We are already vulnerable and now we are being kicked to the curb/gutter and Big Government- run by both parties Republican and Democrat are turning their heads. Sure their families get care if they need it but not the everyday American. They aren't on the ACA policy either. You know what ??? we are getting= recommendations for Medical Marijuana Cards. That's pretty crazy. We're in Montana and we don't know what it's like elsewhere. FAT John Tester, like so many politicians, these days won't return Veterans phone-calls. The V.A. is still in shambles from the cover-ups from the Obama Administration and Bush1-2 years+Clinton crap. It's a pretty sad testament to the nation that this is how it is. A neck fusion along with a PEAK disc replacement, an anterior fusion in L4-5 +broken hip, left knee bursa, right elbow tendon reattachment, right shoulder inoperable, Military Medic=as a result of my service to this high-jacked nation- as a result of exposure to bloodborne pathogens the V.A. is still fighting me for benefits- i had HepC and now severe rapid onset R.A.. If I'd waited for the V.A. to treat me I'd be dead. Crap what a sad story and it goes on I'm just tired of writing it. The, 'Don't Tread On Me' ideas are really starting to resonate with me. I have sat in the waiting room, I am 54, with older people and see how our society treats them and us, It is abhorrent. Why can't hey have just gotten people who have a drug problem treatment? Why is the CDC ambushing everyone and forcing politics into medicine? This is setting the CDC's credibility perhaps permanently. Anyone with and advanced degree or even a decent undergrad knows you don't lie with your data. CDC knows darned well they are hurting innocent people and that these actions are just creating conflict and making more problems. It's all about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ The DEA and CDC and government insiders knew that the CDC used flawed DATA and the Fentanyl data was skewed and didn't account for illegal Chinese analogs of the drug. They knew they were wrong and ran it through to bloat their agencies. They have long since been lying about the data to bloat their little fiefdoms. It so bad now that Big Government has turned on the weakest in society. Whats that they say about when they come for you and no one is left? .

Please stay out of the Doctor-patient relationship. There are millions of people that really need pain medication. Doctors can no longer even write refills. You actually have to go in and pay for another visit just to get your prescription. Insurance has skyrocketed. People can not afford this. Let the Doctors do their job. Go after the meth and heroin dealers. Now, that's a start we can all agree on.

I am one who suffers from life-long chronic pain. It was caused by a severe reaction to a medication. Now I have to go to 3 different doctors for treatment. My family doctor, who has been with me for over 40 years, did not want to send me elsewhere. He felt he was forced to because the medication I needed was a narcotic. Addiction is not a concern, because I will need this medication for the rest of my life and my life will be shorter because of my illness. Please, let me enjoy the time I have left.

I have had Adhesive Arachnoiditis since 2002 and in pain every single day since. Plus many other autonomic dysfunctions. I contracted this disease from a mileogram procedure followed by two epidural steroid injections that made the inflammation worsen. This was in March. Thankfully I was diagnosed in June. But was unable to get on medication that was helpful for some time later. Finally after getting into pain management and under the guidance of my neurologist, I was able to function using a spinal cord stimulator along with a combination of topomax and opioid medication. Now, however, the pain management has adopted the CDC "guidelines" and has drastically reduced my pain medication to a level that does absolutely nothing for my pain level at all. Instead, they are opting for the very "procedures" like the epidural steroid injections that got me sick to begin with. No doubt more financially beneficial for them. There is no cure for this disease and I'm reading now that there is a big rise in numbers of cases since doctors are opting for the use of the injections over medications. I realize that there is a major epidemic in opioids abuse that needs to be addressed but in attempts to do so, it seems that genuine pain patients are being the ones that are being harmed....playing "political football" with their lives! My life! I was once able to function. Not ever completely pain free but at least able to function. Now barely able to get out of bed and dressed. Much less take care of home and family. I am reading of so many simply giving up and taking their lives because they see no hope. This is simply unexceptable. Now, Gov. Chris Christy is leading a new committee on the opioids problem. Leading to more government intervention. I hope and pray that they will focus more on the crimes on the streets and enforcing laws and less on shaming patients in real pain and doctors that treat them. Otherwise, they will see a consequence they would never hope to see.
