My mother has been in hell for the last 10 years--without the proper pain medication. The only exception was when she was on 40 MG of Oxycodone 3x per day (prescribed by the nursing home) for 1 MONTH OF HER LIFE she had relief! Her PCP took her off them when she was released. She now is displaying (again): Hopelessness Severe depression and pain (crying in her sleep) No quality of life She cannot get her hair washed She cannot go outside--hasn't been on her deck to water her flowers She does not want to go on My life has fallen apart being her daughter and sole caregiver. All she wants to do is feel better. The only thing that worked was when she was on the 40 or 30mg Oxycodone. Doctor took her off for no reason and she is suffering. Help us. -

I would like to add that what I hear is that in the Medical Boards Opinion they know how much pain medicine a patient needs per day or per month without knowing one fact about that patients history or symptoms. Unfortunately my doctors diagnosis thru testing and observation for the past 30 years means nothing compared to a medical boards unfounded opinions. Here we go again, We Are Being Discriminated Against by people with prestige and power as they look down their noses at the less fortunate peasant class. My daughter's husband just took his own life due to lack of pain medications . He suffered an injury in the late 80's due to a car accident which left him with a plates in his legs. He was a pipe fitter /welder . He shot himself because he told our family that he just could not go on in pain anymore! Apparently he had it all planned because when he visited me he had mentioned it to us a said " i'm going to kill myself" . Then said "i'm just kidding". His father had to break down the door because he did not call in for work that day and thought something was not right. My daughter was also shot in the head by her own husband . They said it may have had a suicide pack , one does not know as they both suffered from bad health. Two more statistics for the DEA and President Trump to ignore! How many deaths is it going to take before this stops??? It's too late to undue the damage that's been done. I have lost my daughter now due to this insane ban! TRUMP?..address this issue before more people follow suit and have to lose a loved one over your horrible policies! She was just 51!... i will never see her again or be able to say "i love you"! Her daughter's life has been devastated, she will never see her mother anymore and had to hear about the incident while she was at work. NOW I HEAR THAT YOUR STAFF MR. TRUMP has plans to tighten the noose even further on pain management! I never thought this would happen in my own family, you have the power to stop this! This describes the situation I've experienced quite well. I've had pain medications withheld altogether. The doctors had various X-rays, scans etc that clearly show the cause of the pain I've experienced for decades. Unfortunately I'm allergic to NSAIDs and was formally tested and confirmed allergic. That doesn't seem to matter to doctors who I've seen for pain management. I was only offered physical & occupational therapy, various non-pharmacological alternative medicine treatments, steroid injections and surgery. The surgeons under dosed on my pain medication while I was in recovery and despite notifying the nurse multiple times and eventually begging for pain relief, I got nothing to help control pain. To add insult to injury, I was sent home on an insufficient dose of Lortab for only 3 days. Needless to say my pain became excruciating to the point I had to go to ER. I have to give the nurses and Doctor in the ER credit for actually treating and controlling my pain effectively and sending me home on a sufficient dose of pain medication. I was supplied with about 10 days worth of pain medication which is more reasonable. Unfortunately, the improvement in pain that the surgery was supposed to help was minimal and temporary at best. I went back to the doctor for pain treatment, was referred to another doctor who refused to manage pain and this continued until several doctors later the final doctor accused me of being a drug addict. Now at this point NO pain medicine was ever prescribed by any of the doctors I saw. Now I must be on a blacklist and if I mention pain I'm automatically ignored. If I persistently try to discuss pain and options for pain relief I'm offered psychological therapy and all of the non pharmacological treatments again. No matter how many times I tell the doctor I'm in physical pain, NOT psychological pain, I'm ignored, treated like ****, and left to suffer in constant pain. This is cruel and inhumane and has ruined my quality of life and that of many others. This war on drugs is clearly not working.REPORT COMMENTS

I can't believe that they control pain medicines to a degree that a large portion of people have to live in pain even though there's pain medicine that can help it and just because there are people abusing pain meds it doesn't mean that we all are. I am in daily chronic pain it is debilitating at times and keeps me from doing most activities. the pain medicine I received is the only way I get any quality-of-life and now my doctor says he's not comfortable prescribing narcotic pain medicine. This seems cruel to make people live in pain just because others are abusing it. Something has to be done no wonder people are turning to illegal drugs to help cover their pain. Treatment of patients should be between doctors and patients . Chronic pain patients are finding it harder to get the medication and opioids are a medication to let them live a semblance of normalcy . Doctors are afraid to treat patients with chronic pain . Opioids are not the first treatment option but often times are the only option left for some patients . I have 7screws and a a mental rod in my ankle I broke my fibula n tore 2 tendons in 2014. I've been to several Dr office and even let a Dr give me 7 injections in the same ankle bone where these 7 screws are. I recently found out bc of the 2 surgeries n metal in my ankle that I have severe nerve and tissue damage and arthritis bc of the metal I now have had to love with for almost 3yrs now. I can't find not even a decent Dr bc I'm in chronic pain that doesn't mean I'm a drug addict but I've tried creams, gels,every muscle rub there is and injections which hurt like Hell and actually the injections made my pain worse but no one is willing to help so when a person true my needs help where do they go, who can help people like me I have 3 kids that depend on me I can't n laid up in my bed. The pain medication never takes the pain completely away but enough to deal with it and do what i need to in order to take care of me children. Not everyone's body chemistry is alike so u can't treat everyone with the same treatment. What may work for u may not work for me. So do I stay uncomfortable and in pain bc u just don't want to prescribe me pain meds. Thays the point of having medication bc it treats symptoms of pain!REPORT COMMENTS

My grandfather is 92 yrs old, a WW2 vet of the navy, and just lost his wife of 65 yrs a few months ago. He suffers from pain in his foot and takes pain meds. It helps him more than anything. I am going on 54 years old never took any options , all my life despite having a lot of back pain working in the medical field worked two jobs ,when I was younger I work three jobs cleaning houses for a living , can you imagine bending over those jacuses? Probably wrong spelling, sorry doing that for 10 years The havoc on your body I am begging you to rethink this bad judgment and by a group of intelligent highly intelligent articulate people but not thought of the severe repercussions to the chronic pain sufferers too much thought and respect is being given to the drug Addicts who chose to not have self control and the bad doctors and the junkies which is sad! rather than the responsible ill chronic pain sufferers out here and I am one of them who has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia I am now almost bedridden I have neuropathy severe chronic arthritis and all my limbs I'm not sure but I think I'm getting ALS , but the fibromyalgia is worst and nothing that I wish on my worst enemy I think that maybe some of the politicians that need to be hired are people that have fibromyalgia or herniated disc's that I also have four of them that need surgery I cannot tell you how much pain I'm in I had to quit my job five years ago I'm telling you this in tears I'm hearing the stories of so many and too I heard of that just committed suicide because the pain they couldn't take it because their doctors refused them a prescription , because they were too scared to treat their patients not because they didn't want to because they were in fear of the new laws that are being put in place and it didn't make any sense to lower the dosages by a quarter? That's insane for chronic illness! I hurt but in most cases now they can't even get them so there are left with the billet pectate in pain which is going to cause people to have to quit your job because that was helping them to be somewhat productive so now they're going to lay in bed suffer have to get on welfare probably and then be homeless because we flare doesn't offer or doesn't pay for cost-of-living I'm not one of them yet thank God , but I beg you to rethink this bad judgment this bad mistake this bear call that's hurting the most vulnerable victims , and we are patients! we should not have to suffer because of what irresponsible people do ! good people , not bad people but people with bad addictions who chose to do not control their addictions and their habits and are reckless , most of us are responsible people anybody with chronic pain ! severe pain not a normal headache pain or what you call an ache here and there that's not the pain I'm referring to anybody that knows what Arthritis pain and fibromyalgia , needs to be on a large dose of up towards at least 15 I heard some so bad they need 30 mg , I didn't choose that! Maybe that is why I still hurt so bad every minute of day and nights with no sleep, a regimen should be every four hours in order for it to at least work a little bit and it usually only 60% but it makes the person become a productive individual and every individual is different This law is causing people to go to street drugs I heard that this is happening already even doctors are saying it I'm hearing it from nurses that I know that her see in these cases that heroin epidemic is rising because they could not get tgier Scripts or it was to reduced these are people that would never think of doing street drugs and not to mention how many are ready to commit suicide Two have already done it !! and many more comments I've read that are ready to do it and I don't know how I'm gonna live if it's done to me I don't know ! I hurt even with the meds and I'm on lower doses ! I'm hurting so bad I cannot sleep at night the pain does not let me sleep it's not regular pain it's arthritis bone stenosis and especially the fibromyalgia !! not to mention the migraines I get with them I have been suffering for five years I am not the same person I wish to die often I have never taken a Percocet before that never and I would never take unless I needed it with this reduction and now doctors not even given accurate treatment or amounts Its causing suicide which is murder because it doesn't have to happen this is going to happen more and more. and Street addiction will rise as well as poverty people will not be able to work how was that a benefit why are these laws scaring these doctors to treat their patients in a humane way Properly professional ly don't you think that they deserve the respect and honor of having worked all their life like me to pay their taxes and pay insurance for medical and then can't even be treated as their body break down but a young junkie or wreckless dr caused u the ill to pay for thier stupidity please before an epidemic that you can't control becomes worse than the one that put this Law into action and it will happen and is happening! Please help us ! I believe if the politicians like Chris Christie and cuomo had fibromyalgia or severe pain like 4 herniated discs like me they would not have made a law that strict to affect the most innocent and the most chronic of suffers I believe with all my heart and thank God they're healthy... I do not want to live that long with this chronic pain I am in and unable to get enough pain meds to make my pain bearable and have a reasonable quality of life. Pain sufferer of almost four years, due to Pectus Carinatum: A condition doctors and insurance dismiss as "cosmetic". Well, this "cosmetic" deformity over my right lung, has progressively caused me more misery over the 3+ years I've had it. The first two years I only had chest pain and popping, and constant shortness of breath. After I turned 18, as these continued, I started having the worst upper and lower back pain in my life. I've mostly been unemployed and bedridden for the past year because I usually cannot cope with the pain, caused by deformities in my neck spine, as well as lower spine(Scoliosis) that have all developed from my body having to make extra space for the Carinatum. Most importantly, my deformed spine is compressing nerves so badly that my worse pain is actually in my limb joints(especially severe in fingers). My doctors have actually chuckled at the fact that I, a 19 year old, is experiencing Arthritis symptoms. I am consistently denied narcotic pain treatment because they all descriminate for my age. The one's that do support it tell me to "Follow up with your pain management doctor for that", and they won't do it either. Every single doctor I've encountered literally has anxiety of prescribing these meds because of policies now. Anyway, I have accepted that I will continue to suffer for the rest of my life, as well as being treated by doctors and staff like a drug seeker and a nuisance. I'm in f**king misery, so of course I am, along with most of the other people with that label that AREN'T lying about their pain. F**K US DRUG POLICY. F**K THE FDA. F**K THE DEA, and last but not least; a BIG F**K YOU to all of the doctors, nurses, and other staff during my suffering that treated me like an animal. I can live without pain meds. My pain will end when I see the corruption of the FDA and other gov't agencies unmasked. Joel from Arkansas it's really sad that people are considered undesirable subhumanbeings because they have to try to be medicated for a life changeing physical impairment.I have spinal stenosis with multiple hardware surgerys and live in pain even if I have taken pain medication it does not go away the only thing that is missing in my situation is the fact that my pain management Dr can't get the dea to take their hands off of their throats to even consider me a actual person in pain these black hearted people out here micro manageing our lives need to take a good lesson with some carma if anyone of them had to live with the daily pain I have then maybe they would possibly be considered experienced enough to make proper rules and regulations bunch of do gooders without a heart good luck with your carma it's on the way you brought it on yourselfs wake up fools.REPORT COMMENTS
