I hope that everyone responsible for this inhumane policy winds up with devastating very severe pain that does not respond to any treatment. This is a violation of both human decency and our Civil Rights Under the Constitution of the United States of America which at least we are told is supposed to be a Democracy.

Ignorance on addiction and chronic pain: A pill, a drink, a plant does not "cause" addiction. Sex does not "cause" sex addiction. Gambling does not "cause" gambling addiction. Shopping does not "cause" shopping addiction. The abused substance (or activity) is merely the symptom of something much bigger and more complex. Any substance that can be used (and consumed in any way) can also be misused and abused. This includes alcohol, which is still the most abused substance in America. 88,000 people die each year in this country due to alcohol or alcohol-related accidents and injuries. It is legal, cheap, and widely available. It has no medicinal value but is a wonderful form of revenue for federal, state and local governments (as it is taxed at a higher rate). Who is the DEA, CDC, etc. to determine who gets pain relief and who doesn't? They are building a false crisis with lying statistics, taking the focus of a patient’s right to treatment by their physicians (which will do NOTHING to relieve the addiction problem – addicts will always find what they want). Very, very few chronic pain patients become addicted to opioid medication – fewer than 2%, fewer than 1% if there are no addictive behaviors in the family. In fact, we are seeing the very opposite effect!!! Overdoses and suicides are UP -- all because of the government's foolish attempts to prohibit the use of opioid medication. Desperate pain patients who have been cut off and thrown under the addiction bus resort to street drugs. If that doesn't kill them, they move on to suicide -- ALL BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT INTERFERES WITH MY PHYSICIAN'S RIGHT TO TREAT ME!!! It is orchestrated genocide of a fragile population by torture, deliberate and heartless. It is the New American Holocaust.

The Dea is definitely behind this! Told from my pharmacy to my dr. Who are good friends! They say they aren't but after auditing my pharmacy, they told them not to fill for 4 of us that have to travel, "they need to fill by where they live ". Yet they tell my local pharmacies not to fill from that distance! !! I have been told FLAT OUT,that it is the Dea threatening these pharmacies, I'm on my 7th, and paying 2×as much, while being shorted on every script! !! CASH ONLY!! I have gone from 12 methadone to 3 per day!!! Are you kidding me that they won't fill for me!!!!

My wife and I both have documented back and neck pain. It is chronic. When we lived in New Mexico our pain doctor treated our problems correctly. We never tested dirty and obeyed the doctors orders to the letter. We did see an ortho doctor and all he wanted to do for my wife was to cut and put a bunch of metal in her neck saying it would take care of 75 percent of the problem and only 50 percent of the pain. She is too young for this. I have had 3 back surgeries and am in pain 24/7. We moved back to southern Ohio and no doctor here will even discuss a pain problem. This is totally unbelievable. With the no pain pill rule the medical community has here has created a deadly heroin problem. The so called pill mills where probably a pain in the rear, but at least people did not drop dead like flies.

How can the government say they are not doing this when the are raiding doctors offices, putting them in jail, making all doctors afraid to write scripts. WE need to all ban together here!!

Doctors these days are in and out you spend more money on having to go back over and over from being miss diagnosed in the first place. This makes me feel as though they are only there for the pay not to treat. Treatment should be fair especially with how much it costs these days. I can't afford insurance and even if I did added up it costs more than the actual doctor visit. Trying to get the right treatment shouldn't be so hard. And I believe that most ha e their hands died on what they can and cannot do. Still don't make it right. I was born with my hips out of place, to top it off then they did a test and found out I had athritis throughout my whole body and would stay in pain most of my life. They give me creams and tell me to alternate between Tylenol and ibuprofen. That's all I can do for the rest of my life then what's the point in doctor past that it's crazy.

We who have pain are treated unfairly. My husband is dying and still the doctors are afraid to give him pain meds that he needs. I have several injuries to my back plus fibromyalgia and still don't get what I need to rid my body and back of pain because of these laws and people who abuse pain meds. It truly is ashame.

Chronic pain patients who are trying to do things the "right way" are treated with suspicion, contempt, disdain, and an utter lack of regard for the person or their suffering. No one in their right mind would go through what chronic pain pts go through to get "drugs". It would be far easier to obtain drugs to relieve pain the way addicts do and without the cost or hassle. The cost of trying to do things the "right way" is unjustifiable. An appt with a pain mgmt doctor is between $250 - $500 and the cost of ongoing drug screens runs anywhere from $250 to over $3,000. Many pain pts have to have a psych consult - that's another $200 - $500. Some doctors hold patients hostage, literally refusing to write their prescription without monthly appointments and monthly drug screens. It's excessive and an abusive. I'd like to know why psychopharmacogenomics aren't being used instead of repeated drug screens. Psychopharmacogenomic testing is available and can show which patients are vulnerable to addiction. Frankly, drug dealers seem to have more business savvy and acumen than anyone involved with drug policy. I applaud those pain patients who've tried to do it the right way, have been abused by the system, and have decided to find a dealer instead. People have rights when it comes to the reasonable expectation of pain relief. Until those involved with drug policy get their heads out of their collective asses, people will increasingly take back control of how pain is treated in order to have some quality of life. The DEA, policymakers, the CDC, and anyone else involved in this circus only have themselves to blame for increasing consumption of street drugs, overdoses, and suicides.

All pain medicine should be over the counter for American adults. It is morally reprehensible that the sufferer of the chronic, severe pain who must bear it, which is a terrible thing, and who is the only one who can know what and how much is needed, is not allowed the final say. It's not that complicated. One does have to learn a little, and experiment carefully, and of course will talk to doctors, pharmacists, people who have had the medicine, and read about medicines online and in print. And of course, one can go to a doctor and do exactly what he says, but if he is treated (like I have been on many occasions) like an idiot, liar or dope fiend, he would then be free to go buy a medicine he already knows to get some relief right away (probably talking a bit with the pharmacist), and then continue building his knowledge base through these means, and, after not too long, can medicate himself effectively and safely. It's not rocket science. As it stands, Congress and the DEA are torturers of their own people and it is sickening. I have hurt unnecessarily many times, and, as I stated in a letter a while back to President Obama, Governor Snyder (MI), and all my federal and state representatives and senators, "Thank God for drug dealers or I might have blown my brains out by now." We must fight this evil government and abolish the evil DEA, which is a horrible machine of torture of pain patients. They lost the "War On Drugs" to the tough guys, the drug cartels and the boys in the 'hood (just look at Detroit, Baltimore, Chicago's South Side, etc.) who routed them, and to public opinion regarding marijuana, about which nobody really cares, including whole states, so these cowards pick on pain patients via harassing doctors (who should have the spine to stand up to them, but generally don't) and pharmacists (suing Walgreen's) with the predictable result of torturing us, in their pathetic attempt to justify their continued (unjustifiable) existence. I plan on doing a whole lot more in this fight and trying to organize pain patients to DEMAND our fundamental human right of choosing our own medicine of Congress, as well as demanding the abolition of the DEA. This is the human rights issue of our time. As far as abuse goes, in our free country everyone is responsible for himself, and personal responsibility is a duty, not an option. Give us the choice of medicines and 100% responsibility for each pill we take. No pain sufferer would refuse that deal. Addicts and abusers can stop, and help is available there if needed. I think we should fight this in court, on 8th Amendment grounds, "No cruel punishment."

If anyone was serious about ending the heroin/opioid epidemic, they would research the real cause: no wage increases for 20 years (unless you're a CEO already making tens of millions of dollars), no necessary social services (every single section of the social safety net is underfunded and overworked), no hope for a better life. This will be the first generation that will not increase their standard of living compared to their parents. People who are in actual, physical, unbearable pain are denied their medications because it's easier for many people to get heroin than a job with a living wage. Don't punish those of us who need these meds because the government is incapable of supporting the poorest and most desperate of its' citizens.

I have suffered for at the least 25 years with chronic pain in my face due to 3 major head injuries and a car accident, and I have always had to fight with doctors to get pain medications. I cant believe when they look at my cat scans and x rays that they all sing the same song . I cant help you in your pursuit to get your facial damage fixed so you might not need pain killers , but I also cant help with pain medication either. its crazy. my pain is at times so great that I wake up screaming, and sometimes having a conversation is impossible because my jaw is pulled so far to the right I feel like my head is in a vice while my mandible is being ripped away from my scull . I know of at least 10 people who have no problem getting pain meds at these so called pain clinics and since they don't really need them , they sell them to supplement their income. Its Bulls--t. I went to a pain clinic and do you think I could get a pain killer??? These new fricken rules and DEA regulations are making it so people like me are forced to go to the streets to buy illegal pain meds to survive. And they wonder why they are losing the bulls--t war on drugs and why people that are in so much pain everyday like me have thoughts of just literally killing the pain for good. According to our dumb*****government prohibition is the answer. I mean why not it has always worked in the past right? People instantly stop when it's against the law. Lol what a joke in fact the "War on Drugs" is the biggest scam in hopes the pathetic DEA keep there job but hey im sure if they have chronic pain its not hard for them at all to get what they need. They act as though these medications are the only things in the world that can kill you. DEA needs to go ahead and prohibit the sun and tanning beds too. OR open a history book and realise they are lining gangs pocketsand filling prisons ( probably what they want to do). Pretty sad we live in a world where our government hell even police is some of the biggest people we can not trust. Just remember guys. America land of the government property, home of the convict. Guilty until proven innocent. Having drugs to them is worse than being a pedophile anymore.******it seems like they don't even care when an Amber Alert is put out its more of a whatever to them, but damn did you see those people who have pain meds that absolutly need them to function. America's biggest mistake and I'm convinced always will be is the DEA. Pathetic.

It is past time to sue these agencies that have ruined our healthcare system and made it impossible for doctors to prescribe pain medication while re-teaching nurses and doctors to shame us for being sick. In 1914 narcotics/opiates where made illegal to purchase without a prescription from a doctor. Since that time sick patients living with pain and/or nerve problems were giving these drugs for many years to give them a quality of live. They have been around forever and are as necessary for some people as insulin for diabetics. Also the CDC,FDA,DEA has removed medication given to children suffering from hyperactivity which affects entire families as well. We have grown tired of the truth being suppressed and feel it is time to sue these agencies in order to dismantle unnecessary jobs, since doctors have been shut down if they helped. Why are these agencies open? I have a daughter who is going completely crippled now and never stops hurting. She deserves compensation for this I humane treatment. We all need to be compensated for suffering.

There has to be a class action lawsuit against the CDC, DEA, and doctors who are treating chronic pain patients as if we have no place in society. Blaming the victims is wrong, doctors treating patients like a drug addict and causing more trauma to a life that has already experienced enough. Now I hear on the news that ER doctors are looking for other ways to treat the pain of fractures and even cancer. Has everyone lost their minds? Are we still living in a Democratic run government? Stop the Public Health shaming of chronic pain patients. This is just the beginning of an overreaching policy that is stripping Americans of their Civil Liberties.

A lot of people can't take anti inflammatory drugs. They cause ulcers, stomach bleeds. So if doctors are being trained that way then we all are in trouble. Chronic pain is real. Yet even at a pain mgmt clinic you are made to feel like a second rate citizen. A " druggie" even though you never took a Tylenol until a horrible car crash. Yet after years on the same dose and you tell your doctor that the medication doesn't last as long or you are in pain more, then you are " seeking drugs". Heart patients, diabetics have to have their medication adjusted at times. Yet pain doctors are afraid to treat the patient so the patient can have some quality of life. I truly believe that they want the weaker, broken and elderly to get to the end of the rope. After all $$$ would be saved. Yet is this the kind of America we want? Drug users can get all they want off the streets. Yet its the law abiding citizens that go the legal, professional route to get relief from cancer, sciatica, broken bones etc that are criminalized. Yet our " leaders" do nothing because there are no lobby$$$ funds from people with chronic pain. Our country has for the most part lost its compassion, empathy and concern for the broken. Is this really America? From a chronic pain sufferer, this is what my eyes see. It hurts my heart almost as bad as my physical pain.
