I have a ciondition that by no fault of my own was caused by doctor failure. Doctors are so scared they no longer care about patient care all they care about is covering themselves. I moved and my pain medication was dropped drastically. Too bad for me, for the next ten days because my doctor won't cover me. I don't know what to do. It would be so much easier if I was a die hard alcoholic. All I would have to do is go to the local convience or liquor store and buy a six pack or bottle of liquor. No prescrption needed. How many deaths did alcohol cause? Wow, I should become an alcoholic. I have only once asked for more meds and that was when my car got stolen. Even then i had to have a police report which takes 72 hours. The doctor told me he did not care he wasnt about to lose his license for me. So, the DEA claims that nothing has changed bull! They claim that the US consumes 90% of pain killers used in the world but lets look at the world in general. In many countries smoking opium is legal . Mexico is a large producer of marijuana. South America grows poppy. So while these are not pills they are powerful pain killers. No presription needed. Now, I hate to say this but the DEA gets all drugs confiscated in drug busts. They have access to pain killers. In pain people can make some bad judgement calls. DEA agents are human. If they have drug bust who is to say they might not scam a few pills to their next script because they are human. Many agents don't want anyone to know they have any type of ongoing pain problems. I note back problems because that seems to be their chief complaint. Think about this, they have a list of all drug dealers and what they sell. Often many agents have confidential informants who they make very good relationships with. There is a lot of trust built. How easy would it be for them to have their informant go make a buy? So, I also want to know what the DEA is going to do when people are going to hit the streets for illict drugs and have no idea what amounts to take because they couldn't get their pain meds and overdose? Is this worth it. If a person has chronic pain you have just given them a death sentence. But maybe that is the goal of this new law. Many people who are chronic pain sufferers are on ssdi. We all know that SOCIAL SECURITY is in trouble if you could get rid of a million people on SSDI might make a dent. This is my opinion. I hope my comments do not affect me in the future. I am just using my first amendment right for freedom of speech.

Please don't make me have to put my life in danger by going to some drug dealer. I need pain meds. I do not abuse them, I take ONE when I'm in dire pain due to arthritis.

I and other veterans here are being taken off there pain medication and have no other options. This country is leaving tens of thousands of Veterans in pain without any options. The new government policy looks and feels a lot like serve and suffer. Some of those Veterans are killing themselves daily due to pain and depression. This government needs to be responsible for these issues. Veterans in non medical marijuana states need you to go to bat for us. We need legal CBDs in this country as an option for pain. I am not wanting the use of THC but CBDs they can and do help if this could be approved and applied for pain patients it would say to them That you Cares about us. The VA should carry and prescribe this as an option but do not. I have read a lot on the issue and have used it for my pancreas when I lived in California I was able to heal it as the doctors said it was not by there doing. This is very urgent. If you read the Story in the star tribune on the VA and pain issue you will find some comments that are very disturbing to me. Veterans are suffering and are dying. They have no options and need all of your help. We need this option so they don't kill them selfs off to release them selfs from pain. Thank you CPL Ted Thompson US Army retired

My current pain doctor doesn't really listen to me, he act's as if he knows what my pain is, his nasty attitude-my mom could tell you how he treats me, not to mention he had me on oxycodone and when he ask me how I feel and when I tell him I have my good days and bad days he lowers me to tramadol! Which I can get from an er for free instead of paying this man over $200 a month. Meds I can get from a regular doc where I can use my insurance card. I'm having trouble finding a decent doctor that will better listen to me as the patient with common decency and respect. I know most doctors are too scared to give pain meds and it's why a lot of people do illegal things for dealing with their pain.

I have RSD in my foot which causes pain...like hot glass, every minute of every day for the last 11years due to an injury. The pain gets even worse when I walk on it. Norco, according to the RSD Foundation website is an appropriate treatment as long as it is taken as prescribed and don't build excessive tolerance to it. All of a sudden my long term pain management doctor put me on suboxone...he said it had better pain treatment properties. I said ok and tried it for 3months. It made me very ill, lethargic, itchy and finally made me throw up. And I only took a fourth of a strip at a time. I lost 20lbs while I was on it and my doctor refused to prescribe me anything else. I don't understand why it's exceptable for people who have real chronic pain issues need to suffer because other people abuse pain medication to "get high". The Norco did not make me high, it made my daily life bearable to where I could function at some level. Then depression becomes the inevitable side affect of chronic pain...making the whole thing even more debilitating. Legislators need to do something about preventing a life of pain, suffering and depression for legitimate chronic pain suffers....please!

It is when they came out with time released Oxycodone that pharmacies were being broken into. That is the drug you can shoot or snort but putting hydrocodone -Norco or 10/650 acetaminophen w/hydrocodone on schedule list was wrong. It is in gray area but cannot be shot nor snorted. I am being forced to have a surgery that almost cost me my life in 2014 in order to hopefully be pain free but I am afraid it will cost my life because of other health history. I am tired of living in pain yet these Dr.s prescribe nut pills to deal with pain. If you are not depressed then you will be by taking anti depressants for pain. I was a guinea pig for many years and those meds like wellbutrin zoloft all made me suicidal. Treating a person with psychological medications for pain is way wrong.. Then you wonder why people tend to do it illegally and buy off streets... SAD and only in America

I agree! I have multiple Spine issues that can't be fixed. I am disabled, and live with a lot of pain every day. It's hard to get relief from the pain because the doctors are being unfair to us because they are being targeted by the government agencies. It's unfair to us who really need the help with managing our pain. It's hard to live with pain every day! They don't know what it's like to be physically tortured because of this b.s.! ! ! The people who are behind this are healthy, and don't understand. I wish there was a way for them to feel the pain those of us feel. It would ruin them! It would change the way that they look at what they're doing to us!

I would love to see those sitting in their Ivory Tower making the decision to "crack down on opioid abuse". As an RN I understand th rational based on flagrant abuse and fraud but to force people in excruciating, debilitating documented pain untreated aqequetly. PHYSICIANS not managing pain due to FDA regulations is absolutely CRIMINAL! "Mr Man" I challange you to switch places with me for one day perhaps only then you can make an educated decision. Better yet, sit with your loved one lying in agony moan, cry and scream in pain when they try to move. Open your EYES!!!! Taking aways opoids is not the answer. People are dying because they are forced to buy unregulated opioids, start using heroin and alcohol to decrease their pain. They are not being managed properly, poor quality of life unable to get out of bed or wash themselves without assistance. Many of the people you dont see are age 30 to 65. You say it's the opoids that kill right? Has anyone. done a statical analysis after "The FDA REGULATION""? You dont realize there has been an increase in overdoses and suicides. "Mr Man in the suit" Open your eyes! People are in pain, ignored labeled as drug seekers feeling helpless and hopless. Your "crack down" back fired more children and people are dying, there has been a rise in overdoses and sucides, herion and synthetic garbage is now running rampid causing increased deaths and destruction. You need to eat your words "Regulated and FDA APPROVED". Why are people living in severe pain? They are being punished because of your lack of governance. "The pill mill Physcians" were allowed to hand 270 oycodone to a patient in the blink of an eye if the patient paid in cash onlunfor a visit and 270 oxycodone. What a uprise there is no paper trail. 1 percocet pill sells for $20 on the street, multiple that by 270 pills and you do the math. Not a bad days work. That is our epidemic and should have been stopped years ago. Where were the WATCH DOGS? Oh I remember SITTING IN THEIR IVORY TOWER turning a blind eye or perhaps getting their hands greased. What were they doing. when they got caught with their pants down. Oh thats right they were looking for a scape goat, blaming others, they would not be held responsible and point their greasy fingers at everyone but themselves. Having the ordasity to say its an "Opioid Epidemic". on their watch no less. Really? Our children continue to die now using herion, synthetic drugs, alcohol and pills they buy on the internet or off the street. People are dying of cancer, chronic illnesses and chronic debilitating pain are also the victiums effected by "The Man's" incompetence and ignorant decision making to stop physicians from prescribing adequate opoids. I am not nly speaking for others but speak for myself. I have had 4 back surgiures, 9 cages rods, cadavor bones, weak leg, dropped foot and in agony. My pain management physican is a heartless, rude, judgemental women. She sees my pain I fight back the tears, can barely walk, sit or stand without assistance but tells me there is nothing she can do because of the FDA opioid crack down , She refuses to adequately treat my pain and really present care. For 30 years I worked as an RN in ER/Trauma, consoled more families then I count, put my health and life on the line helping otheŕs. Picked up and thrown by a drunk patient, chocked but continued fighting for m patients. The tables have turned, I need help. I feel helpless and hopelessnforced to live in extreme pain, treated like a criminal. There is nothing left to help my pain, no mo re surguries, had over 75 Injections, Ablations in my spine that no longer work, not a candatite for a spinal simulator, ste cell translant. My Surgeon states at this point only Medications, NARCOTICS and OPIOIDS are my only option. I am sent to a PAIN MANAGEMENT DOCTOR that is beyond useless. They dont cae if I am suffering. When I was prescribed proper medications It help bring back my spark, I could move and breath again, my quality of life, out look on life improved, I was able to go to phsical therapy, build up my core, strenghten my legs, arms buttocks and enjoyed life. The Ivory Tower BOYS are clueless and ignorant. My heartless pain management physician should be sitting right next to them. I believe in drug control and the FDA must revisit this blanket opioid rule. Several pathways should be utilized to determine a suffering patients plan of care and administer approproate pain control that has an obvious medical and surgical history. Any of you reading tho sitting in you Ivory Tower getting free all you want medication and medical care, give me a call. I would love to hear from you

I am a 65 year old grandmother with chronic back pain due to a failed back surgery. I also have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and a rare genetic disorder called porphyria. All 3 cause me pain 24 hours a day. I fought back surgery for over ten years. I went through physical therapy 8x, aqua therapy 2x, meditation, biofeedback, therapeutic massage, Swedish massage, Healing Touch therapy, Reiki therapy, saunas, hot tub, bought an inversion table, balance ball, weights, and my own tens unit, walking and biking. I even have a nervThis is just the things I can remember. I have done everything asked of me and more importantly, I did much more! I didn't want to take medication for the chronic pain but finally realized to have any type of life, I was going to have to it. I had a life with some controlled pain relief. It wasn't a pain-free life but I could function. Have you ever been in so much pain you are nauseous and vomiting? Have you felt such pain you are doubled over crying and screaming? How about pain so unbearable you mercifully pass out? Or, pain so unbearably excruciating you beg your elderly mother and your spouse to help you end your suffering by helping you end your life? I HAVE! THIS IS MY LIFE NOW! This is the life my husband and my 85 year old mother have to witness and go through with me. This is the life legitimate pain patients are forced to live daily. Why are we being abandoned, vilified and labeled as drug addicts? My family dr can no longer treat me as a whole patient. My Dr can no longer treat my pain because of the government threat of losing his license and prosecution. Even the pain management Dr's are no longer allowed to prescribe pain meds for legitimate chronic pain. We have three horrible options. Some legitimate pain patients who have been denied proper treatment have turned to alcohol. The alcohol distilleries are happy with the government. They will have increased sales. There are going to be an increase in alcohol related illnesses, alcoholics and deaths. I guess this is OK with you! Some legitimate pain patients who have been abandoned have (or will) turned to alternative or illegal drugs with devastating consequences. The drug cartels and drug dealers are thanking the American government for the new customers. You have just made them richer. You have also just increased the real opioid problem. Now you are going to have more addicts and overdosing. The third option is even more cruel and heartbreaking option, SUICIDE! We have lost to many legitimate pain patients because of your cruelty and completely one sided biased study. Families have been devastated by your actions. Children are left without a parent. Why were we not asked for our story? Why have we been combined with the illegal drugs? Do your own research! Let us show you very reputable statistics. Talk to our doctors! Check the reliability of those who have started the the present war on legitimate pain patients. Ask Dr Kolodny about his ties to pharmaceutics and the drug treatment clinics. We have tried giving him our story. We have called him about the consequences of his decision to ban pain meds. He refused to listen to us. He has refused to believe people who have been forced to live with excruciating pain have committed suicide. He has refused to take our phone calls. I am fighting for my life. I am fighting for the lives of the legitimate pain patients and their families. Please stop this travesty. Stop the inhumane treatment of millions of human beings.

ACCOUNTABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY thats what most pain patients and most physicians have in common. Do not make Drs afraid to help patients. I can't even write this again and again. My comments can be found on all the other petitions. I just don't know how the people doing this sleep at night?

I would not be able to get out of bed if not for my pain medication. I understand that some people out there are abusing drugs but that ,in my opinion, will always be a problem in our world. I have contacted the D.E.A. and expressed my feelings that people who are being managed properly and following their prescriptions as the doctor ordered should not be discriminated against. If a diabetic or a heart patients doctor was being attacked by the gov., it would certainly viewed as discrimination against a certain condition and not tolerated!!
