I was just diagnosed with shingles they are covering my right breast and are very painful. I did not realize this was shingles for 3 weeks and then my ribs and back started to hurt. So it is unlikely the vacyclovir will work. For pain I got 12 tablets I can take 2 a day. I am not an addict, but I am in excruciating pain and no Dr. seem to be able to care for your pain. It has went into the nerve , I am ANGRY that we are apparently all going to be treated as addicts, even when the pain is clear.

I am legally disabled with multiple diagnosis. Over the years as I suffer in pain more and more the doctors just keep taking my quality of life away along with my dignity by taking away or reducing my pain meds. I am 55, used to own my own home and took pride in going to work and having the feeling of accomplishment and pride. That is now gone. I suffer silently now, most of the time in bed. I do my best to survive on 800.00 per month. I cannot enjoy even the simple things that most take for granted, such as enjoying my grandchildren, other family and friends. I have lost my home and suffer from depression and PTSD along with my severe daily pain. I truly don't understand the "one size fits all" approach and all the stiff regulations that human beings, like myself that are forced to suffer with. The problem is in the street and is going to only get worse. People are being forced to turn to the street for "illegal" drugs that are far more dangerous than the opiate Rx drugs that they need. Some of the problem lies in the laps of Doctors, weather they don't take enough time with patients or they are afraid to prescribe because of the strict regulations. I never thought at the age of 55 that I would be in this pathetic situation and I now that sadly, I'm not alone living on the verge of being homeless and completely alone with only chronic pain as my constant companion. I am a proud to be a part of this country but my country is letting many of us down. So many of us could get back to work, have self pride and enjoy our family if we weren't unnecessarily punished by a broken system.

I was sent to a methadone clinic for pain when I was 20 my Mother a to be there. That was fine and then my Doctor said laws changed and she took care of meds. I've had a normal life good career nice family life and pain managed. Now after being on methadone over 40 years my Doctor is scared and I'm on mandatory tapper at 62 years old. I just buried a friend who had a similar situation. He was taken off pain meds lost everything while misdiagnosed as having constipation he died of diverticulitis. He was 66 and never should have died. First do no harm has changed to First Stay Out Of Trouble! What can I do???

I live in a small community and the whole medical community has refused help to the chronic pain patient. I have no hope, I have damaged discs and arthritis in my spine that can't be fixed. My only option to be free from pain in to commit suicide.

We may as well give up the fight. The government and doctors have already won the battle.no matter what we say its not going to change. In addittion to them alleviating pain they took care of other problems like deppression which i know all the self righteous people will say opiates cause depression but the fact is a lot of the depression came from undermedicating causing me to purchase from street causing financial difficulty. i had depression long before these but when i had them they helped it also lost weight which brought diabetes numbers down. i could work relativly pain free. at 58 and doing electrical work is next to impossible i would like to see the far asses in congress that sit all day to crawl through an attic they would beg for pain relief. oxys are not the problem regardless of the fact they need to keep increasing dosage300 Miligrams per day sounds like a lot to average person but its like a 5 Miligram a day to people on them anyway they are not turning back. yes im addicted to them but also addicted to feeling as good as i can in mind and body.we should have been given a choice for the people that were already on them.the doctors and pharma companys and politicians created this mess and got rich off them. And inthe meantime continue to destroy our lives I pretty much work now to buy them and just get by. so it hasnt slowed the street sales down as i am fortunate enough to pay $5000.00 a month and still pay my bills.but will never be able to retire.thanks for ruining my life and many others.

I've had multiple fusions done on an EMERGENCY need and have lost use of my left arm after surgery. I've been going to the same pharmacy, dealing with the same idiots ONLY because I"m "Locked in" to them. TODAY, after handing my prescription in LAST WEDNESDAY - the pharmacist decides to refuse to fill it. this is also AFTER she had me run through hoops having dr call her, ins call her - she VERIFIED everything and my pain management program is in effect as far as lowering my dosages. EIGHT DAYS NO WITHOUT MY BREAKTHROUGH PAIN MEDICATION! I WISH THE GOVERNMENT UNDERSTOOD WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO INNOCENT PEOPLE! This is not right. I"m in excruciating pain as it is and now i can't fill my medication because someone who knows NOTHING about my situation thinks she has pull. I'm disgusted!

I have had multiple surgeries, 2 fusions done on both my neck and lumbar and they both have failed me. I have 2 bad knees and am headed for full knee replacement. I am in constant chronic pain and I have to take narcotics to live and be a part of society. I have a full time job that I cannot work if I don't have my medicine. I am now faced with a doctor that took over for my regular doctor for a few months and he took a urine from me on my last appointment, and they're now saying has none of my medicines in it! I am beyond baffled. This is impossible. I take my medicines everyday. I did some research and found out that the lab they used is using a method called Immunoassay, and it's proven to be WRONG 41% of the time! They are refusing to give me my pain medicine now! Or re-test with a reputable method/lab. This is ridiculous! I will sue the pants off these ignorant fools if they make me go through withdraw !!!! There are some of us WHO REALLY DO TAKE OUR MEDICINES LIKE WE ARE SUPPOSED TO, AND IT'S SICKENING HOW YOU'VE DEMONIZED US AND MAKE THE DOCTORS FEEL THAT THEY CAN'T TREAT PEOPLE ACCORDINGLY!

I have suffered from chronic back pain radiating into my legs for 7 years now. I worked remodeling houses for 4 years and lost my part in a company due to undertreated pain and now spend most of my time in bed. I haven't seen my best friend in over 2 months and am unable to even take care of my son without my medicine. It's cost me more in the last 7 years then I would care to share my relationship is in shambles. My doctor spent most of my last visit yelling at me that I should have my life together and doesn't even want to treat me mentioning the DEA as a reason for not prescribing me medicine that has worked before. This has to end I keep my pistol under my pillow reminding me that I have a way out even though I'll keep my promise to my family and live strangely it's comforting knowing it's there... help us we are human and we diserve to be able to be a part of life not sitting looking in wondering if things will ever change.

She refuses to admit, fix or discuss her errors landing me in ER Dept's one after another where they won't help either anymore due to this "Opiod Epidemic!"

Also when you've been on ADD or pain med for years, you shouldn't have to go without because you couldn't get a Dr. Appt. and pharmacy visit into a 3 day window every thirty days. Crazy. DEA-FDA Regulations should use common sense guidelines. Patients who have a recorded history of responsible use after a certain time frame should receive a broader freedom to obtain their medications. ADA should get involved and sue FDA for ADA compliance and discrimination towards people if they have specific illnesses. Human beings with a history of legitimate need should not be punished because of the actions of others .

When u have cevical neck pain spinal spurs, buldging discs, herniation disc, and 3 in back. With proper documentation people should not have too go through the hoops and struggle just too get pain medication, that's crapp...that going too dr. Going too pain management and that you have too go through and still barley get anything, so people are turning too drug dealers and other sources witch they go through all the legal hoops, then turn them into illegal sources when u have proper mris..discogram, x.rays..cat.scan.we need them for real reason. It's understandable if u go too ur dr..sat u hurt in pain not too give any..but with medical proof..that's crapp..making ppl..go with out...the system has not worked since the change, pple get them elsewhere. ...so then u end up with pple wasting our tax money in jail because they turned too illegal sorces...when there good pple that Truly have medical documents and severe pain...

I have chronic tendinitis, shoulder (2 surgeries), neck (related to surgery) and back pain (significantly from a fall during rehab of surgery), and I'm intolerant of NSAIDS, which includes aspirin, ibuprofen, celebrex, relafen, etc. This means the only treatments are physical therapy, surgery, cortisone and pain medications. Like a previous commenter, I take norco for pain. It's the same amount every month, yet it seems that we are being targeted along with heroin and drug abusers. Please take into consideration that those with chronic pain and the like need these medications to lead a normal life. If there are tests needed to weed out the abusers, fine, but don't make it difficult to impossible for legitimate patients to get relief. To me, these drugs are miracle drugs!
