This is insane. Prime that are in chronic pain and Dr knows what's best and they want to limit us vs the Dr advice. The people turning to heroin are the ones that were buying off streets and taking and abusing opiates when they didn't need them just recreational?!! This is gonna push pain patients to turn to something to get their pain under control if government takes them away. This is the most insane thing I've heard!! They aren't drs. They are suppose to be making our economy better and worry about thongs like flints water per say. Let the Dr s do their job!!!!!!!

After a 27 year career of helping people who were sick or injured, I became disabled from a fall. I've had one failed spine surgery and cannot get a revision due to "its too risky" I am in chronic pain in my back and peripheral neuropathy to both my legs. I have a spinal cord stimulator implant and I am on a few medications including a pain reliever. With all that I have I still get a lot of breakthrough pain. There are days when it's damp, cold or raining that I truly suffer! I try to sleep on those days because sleep is usually my only relief. On a good day with my stim and medication I can walk a little and do some light chores. If I lost my pain medication I would not be able to function. This started in 2012....I have gone through physical therapy, I have tried numerous OTC pain relief all to no avail! Pain is very stressful both physically and mentally. I sincerely hope that those of us that suffer with chronic pain are considered. Please don't mix a heroin epidemic with opiate pain medication because there is a huge difference!

I hope None of you have to watch a Loved one in pain, when they are refused pain medication! If this was an animal in pain, refused pain relief, America would be outraged! Please be as humane to patients in pain!

You fail to realize that there ARE some conditions and diseases like mine, Chronic Pancreatitis, that have NO other option for pain relief, is incurable, and causes SUCH severe organ pain, that if not treated, death can and does occur. If not as a direct death from sheer pain and shock, then quite often from that incredibly intense pain causing sudden sharp rises in blood pressure SO high, death occurs from heart failure and/or massive stroke. WHAT do you say to these families of lost loved ones? That this will cure the Heroin epidemic? No, it won't. Because the reason for this new epidemic is YOU! Patients are now faced with only these options. TRY to live for as long as possible with the pain, allow diseases to run their course and die in an excruciatingly agonizing, often long and drawn out death, or turn to the streets and as a last dratic resort to try and stay alive, Heroin! So WHO caused this epidemic? YOU did, and the sad thing is, you KNOW it. Meanwhile when you're comfortable and pain free in your bed tonight with your loved one, out here, someone died tonight because of what you have done. A mother is crying over her child's body. A father lost all reason to live. Sleep well. God never forgets!

My dad had chronic pain from diabetes attributed to exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. I watched him eat healthy and manage his diabetes for decades but once the pain got to be too much the VA doctors said they would not give him anything as they said it was 'attention seeking'. He died in 2012 in great pain because the doctors were so scared of what 'may' happen that patients suffer. After watching my father go through that I had a great animosity toward the medical community.

I have suffered chronic pain for over 15yrs. In the beginning I had no issue getting medications that let me live a full life, I went from couch ridden to joining a roller derby team! These past 2yrs or so have changed all that. I find it hard to even find relief from severe pain if I have to go to an EMERGENCY room! Every Dr walks on eggshells now, they sadly don't think of quality of life for their patient first, they think "could I be writing too many prescriptions as a whole?" , "could I be investigated..or lose my license?". It's SAD in what is supposed to be the most free of all countries, Drs are dictated by law, not their own oath.

I have Fibromyalgia, and there isn't one Reumatologist from Bellingham to Seattle who will see a new Fibromyalgia patient. Though I was diagnosed years ago, I am back to the pain and all that goes with Fibro., Interstitial cystitis, and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. I am very sensitive to medications and the ones prescribed for Fibro cause super bad side effects on me, and did you know most of them are addictive also. I would like the option of being able to use opioid pain medications when I have these bad flair ups. What happened to "My body, my right?" There's been allot of advancements from gay rights to sex changes, to abortion under this slogan while the government takes away the rights of law abiding citizens who are in pain.
