I suffer every minute of my life. I got into a major car accident and in the emergency room, I sat for 6 hours without pain medication because I take narcotics daily, so therefore they assume I wrecked my car for painkillers. They refused to do X-rays of my back when I have 2 titanium rods bolted to my entire spine, severe scoliosis, severe arthritis and degenerative disc disease, three bulging disc's, to tears, and spina bifida. I was treated like a piece of crap, and I spent the entire time crying because of how much pain I was in and wasn't allowed to take my own pain medication, which I take a normal days and go to a hospital where I can't have any after being in a car accident. Nobody wants to help me as far as doctors are concerned anymore, because I am too complicated and because I don't look sick, I must be lying even though I have x-rays, MRIs, and CT scans to prove it. This needs to be stopped.Feb 19th, 2016Someone from Hilliard, FL signed.

I have fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease, narrowing of my spinal canel and have tears in my lower back L4-L5 and L5-S1.disc and I get treated like a drug addict and I'm not, I hate to say that I need the pain medication to do normal things daily, like get out of bed, be a mommy to my 2 daughters, a wife to my husband and be able to work my 2 part time Jobs to help my husband financially. Yet I get some pain meds and ones that don't work and Dr's refused to give me anything stronger but yet the real drug addicts can get their pain meds without a problem every single month and get prescribed what they want. Something needs to be done with the people that who really are suffering from a chronic pain and diseases. Please fix this asap Thank you!REPORT COMMENTS

We the PEOPLE of the Unites States of America DEMAND those in congress, the DEA, CDC, and the POTUS to make ALL your healthcare records and pharmacy records public for you and your loved ones!! ALL of you are VIOLATING LEGITIMATE CHRONIC INTRACTABLE PAIN PATIENTS RIGHTS TO PRIVACY AND OUR RIGHTS TO MEDICINE TO TREAT OUR SEVERE, NEVER ENDING PAIN!! I am OUTRAGED over the comments made by Mrs. HOURY (I refuse to call her a dr when she is inflicting harm, pain and suffering onto human beings). MANY of us have been existing in severe chronic pain for MANY years! MANY of us have tried all the alternative therapies OUR bodies and wallets can take! MANY of us are battling anxiety and depression that is brought on by UNTREATED SEVERE, NEVER ENDING CHRONIC INTRACTABLE PAIN !! MANY of us can't even get the medications for both severe pain and anxiety/depression as MANY of us are being told we have to decide either pain medications at VERY LOW DOSES that DOES NOT EASE THE PAIN TO A TOLERABLE LEVEL or anxiety medications because according to the DEA, CDC and those of you in congress who have DESTROYED our country, LEGITIMATE patients are no longer allowed to have both medications. YOU ALL WILL REAP WHAT YOU SOW. THE HARM, THE PAIN AND THE SUFFERING YOU ARE INFLICTING ONTO HUMAN BEINGS WHO ARE SUFFERING ENOUGH ALREADY AND THEIR FAMILIES, AS UNTREATED CHRONIC INTRACTABLE PAIN NOT ONLY AFFECTS THE PATIENT, BUT THEIR FAMILIES AS WELL, WILL COME BACK TO BITE YOU ALL IN THE ASS, AND AT A SEVERE ENOUGH LEVEL YOU WILL BEG GOD TO TAKE YOU, LIKE NEARLY ALL PAIN SUFFERERS DO BECAUSE THEY ARE BEING NEGLECTED, ABUSED, MISTREATED AND DISCRIMINATED AGAINST, AND FORCED AT THE HANDS OF THE DEA, CDC AND THE GOVERNMENT TO EXIST IN AGONY!!!REPORT COMMENTS

I suffer from chronic pain, sciatica bursitis tendonitis low back degenerative disc (sacyrilliac?) I have had many injections over the years that was a Godsend for me as it usually helped so much. I think the government needs to back off and leave the doctors to do what they've been trained to do! It's not rocket science to figure out who needs meds for pain relief and the ability to function and who needs meds to get high! It's such a horribly disturbing trend...is this our future? Trained automons moving to the strings pulled by legislators who don't know you can't see you and therefore aren't in any position to judge people's pain! Making anyone who needs pain meds feel like a dirty druggie or someone not to be trusted is a terrible feeling and just not acceptable!REPORT COMMENTS

All of the things that the work group promised would not happen, have already. The guideline's numerical suggestions have been implements by insurance companie, health care providers and the VA. Refusal to reimburse >100 mg moronone equivalents is the standard, even for patients who have required severl times that much to function. Doctors are firing patients left and right. Those that haven't quit prescribing opioids outright, have involuntarily titrated patients at seriously dangerous rates. This is the END of the all volunteer military because no one will risk getting blown up by an IAD only to come back home to and government whose only thanks is a bottle of tylenol to pickle their liver. This war on drugs that is interfering with the humility of once good Dr with good intentions and the successful treatment of patients needs to stop. We all need to fight back against this asinine conditioning, and fight for our rights as well as our lives. Living with chronic pain is horrible and the way you are treated by ignorant citizens and health care professionals is infuriating and makes you feel like people are raping you of your dignity.Ever one has their cross to bear I guess but how you choose to deal with your issues in life is what makes you who you are, what I mean by this is, are we suppose to keep swallowing this abuse or are we gonna fight. The pain meds that I used to get are a very effective therapy for me. They allow me to feel more normal and help me to function at a higher level. Without narcotics, I simply withdraw from friends, family and activities that make my life more fulfilled and complete. Often, I just stay in bed. I am afraid that I am taking too many OTC meds to try and get enough relief to function normally. What a lousy choice! Suffer with pain or risk taking too much Tylenol, Motrin and Aspirin.REPORT COMMENTS

No, CancelFeb 16th, 2016Someone from Bridgeport, CT writes:
None of these policies or laws will be effective until there is criteria that allows patients with moderate to very severe chronic pain to get treatment that does not leave them with either significant pain left after they have been given an inappropriate dosage of medication for their tolerance level or the inability to gain treatment for pain not addressed by the over the counter medications. If pain that is documented by MRI is seen by a Physician or a condition is known to cause severe or very severe pain it needs to be treated. It does not do most people any good to be treated with a dosage that is inadequate simply because the policies and laws have changed. If the dosage is effective and the patient is keeping their appointments, taking their medication as prescribed and not in violation of their pain contract I do not see why they should have to suffer. If they require a high dosage it is because under a doctors care it has climbed to that level and patients should not be tortured like this. If a patient has pain that is not properly treated there are not many options available to them: (1) The patient can try again to get the doctor to work with them. If that does not work they can ask around and try to obtain drugs illegally or by completing avoiding the friends and family route and seeking medication in the streets of their nearest city. (2) The street option should be avoided because you do not know what you are getting or if any other chemicals or drugs have been added. Recently the authorities found that Fentanyl had been added to Heroin and people were dying because of this. (3) Whether the person is a PAIN PATIENT OR AN ADDICT IT SHOULD NOT COST THEM THEIR LIVES!!!! (4) All drugs will remain available on the street. IF LEGITIMATE PAIN PATIENTS CAN NOT GET TREATMENT YOU ARE INCREASING THE NEED FOR ILLEGAL DRUGS AND ALSO THE COST OF EMERGENCY VISITS WHEN THESE DRUGS CONTAIN OTHER ADDITIVES THAT SHOULD NOT BE THERE !!! WE NEED A PROGRAM THAT ALLOWS FOR PAIN TREATMENT WITHOUT PUTTING THESE DRUGS IN THE HANDS OF ADDICTS AND CHILDREN!!! They make Medicine bottles that have combination locks. These bottles could be part of the solution. We could buy a set or two sets with our first prescription and bring our bottles to be refilled when needed. This alone would significantly cut down on Teenagers and other family members accessing drugs they do not need for a legitimate medical problem. WE NEED A MORE INTELLIGENT APPROACH TO PAIN MANAGEMENT BY OUR HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS!!!!REPORT COMMENTS

It is downright shameful if not illegal for the DEA and the CDC to attempt to hijack the Doctor-Patient relationship by attempting to control pain management in the United States. It is reported that 1/3 of the U.S. population suffers from Chronic Severe Pain which can either be treated by a licensed physician or denied by on-medical personnel such as the DEA. If physicians are denied the ability to care for patients medically, patients will, by necessity resort to alcohol, illicit drugs like heroin or purchasing what might be needed on the street. Seriously, there is a war against humanity being perpetrated on the public by the "War against Doctors" (Drugs).REPORT COMMENTS
