What can I do to join this fight for our right to medications that give us some kind of hope for a life without being stuck at home, in bed, in depression! I have been on pain meds for now 7 years! I am blessed to have my pain Doctor for now but when she is gone what will happen to me who can I see that will continue my scripts? Who will? Please let me know! We need to all stand up and get together and fight this so that patients do not have fear in losing their meds, fear of losing their doctors that help, fear of not having anyone help you when you lose your doctor and have no way to pick up your scripts and have to suffer tremendous withdrawals that can ultimately make you wanna kill yourself! How many patients have given up? All these people who suffer from pain and have fear in just getting their scripts to be able to live the remainder of their life pain free and not stuck at home in bed in depression and torture! They are making so many people live in so much pain in torturing pain! Why????? What can I do To help pass a new law that protects all patients that legitimately take pain meds to be finally free and not fear for their life or have to suffer! -

First of all I am tired of these beaurocrats & dr's labeling people because of what a few do. I have never Ben addicted to anything in my life & am tired of them labeling me as such. They should base my medical care on my history not the history of a few others out there. My history has nothing to do with theirs. That being said I am sitting here and in the last 3 wks have been to 2 dr's. I am coughing (asthma variant cough) & have been for 3 going on 4 weeks. Anyone know the frustration of having a asthma cough day & night not being able to sleep for nights in end & breathe with every breath! I called & talked to the dr & was refused prescription cough syrup! I was given Tussen pearls which have absolutely no impact. I am taking them pretty much like candy & none work! Anyone who knows about asthma knows it is a dangerous sickness that not given the right help or meds can lead to death & yet no one cares to give the correct meds to stop the cough because of being fearful. It comes pretty much down to this dr's made an oath to care for their patients to the best they can. I say "it is where the loyalty lies" & it is not with their patients. Give them one day in my shoes!REPORT COMMENTS

I have suffered chronic daily pain, in many areas, for most of my life. I am 29 years old, and just made myself "push through" the pain every day to work and graduate college, usually I would collapse from pain and exhaustion by the time I got home, and had to isolate myself most of the time. It got so bad that I could no longer do this, I left my job, moved in with my mom, and went on disability. I have absolutely no life at all, never leave my house except for doctors appts, can't even drive anymore. I can't get anyone to treat my pain at all tho. I have tried every alternative there is, suffered through awful side effects, researched as much as possible even though my pain is worsened by looking at my computer, and I'm still told I can't even have meds to treat my pain once a week. I was just hospitalized for another 4 day treatment for my pain which did nothing. I have tried every single thing available to me (literally dozens of meds and alternative treatments without the slightest relief), and the only thing that helps some is pain meds in the ER. I honestly don't know what I'm going to do if something isn't changed soon. We as chronic pain patients need to be looked at as people, as individuals, who are suffering and just want some quality of life back. I have never abused drugs, always did everything just as the doctors told me to, always followed up with my doctor when I was told to, yet I can't get any help. I break down crying now when I talk to doctors because this is too much to keep suffering through. The pain prevents me from sleeping, but instead of treating this pain, I am put on high doses of various meds that just knock me out, but don't provide rest. I had a brief period of relief while on methadone, but I am now denied that medication even though it greatly improved 2 of my issues causing pain. I cry all the time out of pain and frustration, but am just stuck. There needs to be a better understanding of the severity of chronic pain, and the ways these patients can get real pain relief. It isn't fair to label everyone a drug addict. After various treatments and after surgery, when I was on pain meds, I never showed a single sign of addiction to the meds. Once I no longer needed them for that condition, I was off them and just fine. I just want my history to be looked at and acknowledged when discussing pain relief and when considering pain meds for that relief. I am just tired of being blamed for those few unethical doctors who prescribed pain meds to those who didn't need them, causing addiction problems. That is a real issue, but it shouldn't be blamed on my need for relief....REPORT COMMENTS

As being on the bad end of the stick with getting real treatable help and knowing if they do not treat my pain now it will become a bigger problem in the hear future. It has been documented if you choose to ignore pain or not treat the pain it will be worse for us in the long run. I myself am looking forward to a life of pain that is not on the pain scale, to which i just can do nothing but cry and just all of a sudden wake up a couple hours later wondering how i fell asleep or was it falling asleep. I need ot control the pain and it will always be a part of me. I have been hit by a doc for a time when I was not able to answer what he wanted and he said I was faking it. I had a severe issue with back pain dec 31 and within a month and a half i was told i was crazy for being semi comatose. I did look it up. I still to this day feel horrible for I was treated with abusive treatment over me having pain issues and what comes with the rest of my disease. Why can't we at least get the one thing we can get help with our pain given to us. I am not asking for me not to go through hoops, for we do all the time, I am asking for dignity from those who label people and pain is the worst thing to have for you will always be an addict. If I had cancer would it make it better for you. I have seen pain that reaches to the very inner being of my soul and it just crushes my muscles and other things which is the after affects of what pain does. I will say this bluntly, wanna get hit by a truck and survive with the pain you would get if you lived? how about this try taking a hammer and hitting your back a few times hard...my days are filled with when will this feeling come back. How will I explain it to them without crying or getting angry because pain is so bad it does that. Please for us and all of us who are sitting here telling you it is no fun. remember it could hit you and you are paving the way to a future where you will one day maybe be like us and of you are I give you less than a week before you say what can i have for the pain. Actually when you feel that type of pain you may not be able to think straight or get through your day. The bed will be your friend, along with warm baths to the point you cant stand it. I also have to sit up some time, I have to get groceries for the family, and yet you all speak about us being addicts. i use a rollater now. i cannot go without one. between the muscle spasms just started in my legs and lower half, and the nerve pain, and hte herniation sitting on my nerves be me and let me be you. Then i would not be here wondering how I can make it past the nest day or the next day. I think of suicide and it is because the pain is horrible and I feel like literal crap, when I have to decide what is better staying in bed or not doing the things I should or want to do because I cannot get the lifesaving meds for me. These are lifesaving for many. I am one of them. i have a better QOL (QUALITY OF LIFE IS WHAT IT MEANS) do you know whREPORT COMMENTS

Once again the US bureaucrats think believe they know best and choose to dictate to the people. DEA denies their own actions and push the blame onto doctors, pharmacists, or anybody but themselves. The harm to to responsible patients who could not lead productive lives without pain medication appropriate to their condition far outweighs the handful of drug abusers that will be stopped by DEA's misguided behavior. Abusers who are stymied by the DEA restrictions will just get what they want on the street. Congress will only reign DEA in when constituents get their full attention. This signatory is asking for just that. Make DEA back off legitimate health providers and pharmacist and let them to their job to help patients.REPORT COMMENTS

I'm at the end of my rope! I can't take being treated like I'm a junky ! I'm 47 yrs old , never been in trouble w/ law or mistook my meds ! I'm not perfect but I don't abuse my pain meds ! They stopped giving me what works and put me on a lot of meds that don't work but have major side effects. Now because a nurse had a bad day , she provoked an argument , twisted and took what I was saying out of text and said she was going to see to it none of my meds would be refilled. Now I'm going to have to go Cold turkey off of Fetzima, Celebrex , also recently had my pain meds taken from me ! It seems the more I need and ask for help the worse I get treated and my pain meds and it would be nice if one doctor would take the time to refer me to a psychiatrist so that Another Dr. might actually diagnose and find the right medicine for me as of now I don't know what I'm going to do . I've just read a lot of statements so I know I am not alone and we have the right to be treated with respect and dignity ! Politics and new laws are truly only hurting the people that really need the medicines. And pain meds have a lot less side effects or do less harm then any of these other drugs that don't work that are getting pushed onto us we should have the right to choose what are treatment is. We are not children . You also need to take a look at a lot of these nurses in these doctors offices because they wreak havoc on your life because they strip you of all of dignity a solely on the fact that you need pain medication and They know they have the power.REPORT COMMENTS

They are lazy, do not care, medicare pain Doctors can treat you two years before you start asking why I am not getting better. Doctor or office staff will find any reason to bump you if you make noise, I requested a new MRI, and I am worse. Now I know why, it has turned into a two year flip, and sometimes, good luck getting meds. before you can get into somewhere else. Legitimate chronic pain patients are running out of options. I worked all my life never taking a day off for being sick or hurt in any way. I did this for close to 50 years of my life no need for a Doctor or pain meds I just went to work no matter how I felt. This was thru all my jobs starting with construction and labor jobs to my final career as a police officer for close to 30 years. Still never taking time off work for pain or sickness. I had pain and sickness but went to work anyway. I arrested numerous drug addicts from heroin to cocaine to meth and marijuana. Numerous other drugs also. Now I'm almost crippled with pain from both a horrific car accident and very bad Neuropathy which my Father also has and cannot get the medication he needs from s a Doctor but we are told to use Marijuana. That makes no sense ? I want s Doctor to treat me. I went to several doctors to try to find out if further surgery might be the answer and they didn't even care about anything other than telling me that I'm an addict and I should know better. I do know that the pain is unbearable and even with the medication I can just get thru the day. I have tried everything non drug related and every non narcotic related drug and took natural supplements and tried marijuana and no help what so ever. The only help I received was when my pain Doctor increased my pain meds to include a combination of a few different narcotics which are so controlled that if they are taken away from me I will not make it thru the day. I will be a crying mess in horrific pain and nothing to look forward to. Please do not take my help away let me have a life to as according to the constitution I deserve the pursuit of happiness the same as every American. Without the medical help I would be useless to my family unable to help my wife and children. With medical help from reputable Doctors I am able to help my family. Thank you and hopefully someone is listening.REPORT COMMENTS

want to feel like a criminal even though you pay more in taxes and are more productive than most of the general population? Well get an auto immune illness which will cause you to be in pain 24/7. when after all the gabas, and steroids and other stuff in the rx cabinet does nothing but drain your bank account, and hydrocodone is the only thing that helps, go through the huimiliation of peeing in cups, signing contracts, running short because you can't get in to see a dr., having your id checked, having your dr. refuse to write your meds anymore because they are afraid of DEA, and basically being questioned like a junkie everytime you go in for your "in person" 30 dollar co-pay office visit. DEA, stop your witch hunt, and for every physician or law maker who paints all pain med users with a single brush, I hope you or someone close to you never suffers the way a chronic pain person has to, probably only then will you truly understand. Then see how it feels to get no reliefREPORT COMMENTS
