Dobermans have history with the army, we have a doberman and I'm not giving him up because other people don't know how to train their dogs. There is no such thing as a bad dog it's bad owners. Don't punish us for others mistakes.Oct 29th, 2012Someone from Simi Valley, CA signed.

As a German Shepherd owner, I was a bit turned off by the use of "evil thing." Every dog is an individual and more importantly it is the owner's responsibility to train and teach proper behavior. So this is why I am supporting this petition, as well as the fact that my friend, a Marine, owns a rottie.REPORT COMMENTS

Breed specific legislation is ridiculous. It is simply people's prejudices getting the better of common sense and about as reasonable as racial segregation. It is clearly documented that smaller breeds, such as Cocker Spanials, traditionally have a higher propensity to bite than larger breeds. Do your research and learn the facts before condemning something based on biased stereotype.REPORT COMMENTS

As far as I know ALL branches do not allow dobermans. However, the housing dept. will allow an aggressive dog that is not an 'aggressive specified breed' in housing. Logical...REPORT COMMENTS

Dobbies are wrongfully categorized as aggressive. I live in the DC area and had to leave my female with family because the apartment complex doesn't allow Dobbies. It's a shame since the are much less "aggressive" than many other smaller breeds that are considered "cute."REPORT COMMENTS

We are the proud owners of a 1 and a half year old Fawn male. Along with a two year old and a 1 year old, he is a proud member of our family. I am a military member and my wife is a veteran. It upsets us our dog isn't allowed to live on post if needed.REPORT COMMENTS

This blatent hatred and targeted discrimination against this magnificent breed MUST BE STOPPED! My family and I (which includes our Dober-son) live in base housing on a Marine Corps base. Thank God Dobermans are not included on the "banned breeds" list here, however, our particular housing decided to "amend" our contracts housing rules to add Dobermans to their list after an ignorant woman (who happens to own a particularly nasty & aggressive Chiahuaha) decided to complain about our dog because she was frightened by a Doberman as a child and therefore feels "traumatized" everytime she see's our goofy 6 month old pup walk by. Even though it is her nasty little dog that barks aggressively & charges our boy every time she see's him. Our dogs response is to simply ignore her, and just trots along happily to continue our walk. We received a letter because of her stating we must either remove our dog (never ever going to happen) or move out within 5 days! Fortunately for us, our housing handled this supposed " ammendment" in an entirely illegal fashion. We were able to get this illegal ammendment removed, but the battle is far from over. The woman continues to make up lies about our boy and is actively trying to turn our neighbors against our boy and spread her ignorance further. It will be a cold day in hell when I give up my Doberman due to the over abundance of ignorant people living around us. Stop this madness & realize it is irresponsible owners that are the problem, NOT THE DOG!REPORT COMMENTS

This is ridiculous. I understand that the housing community needs to be-careful... maybe having a new dog evaluated to see if he/ she is a threat but to set breed specific legislation is like saying people with two colored eyes shouldn't be able to live there....so silly. Each dog is different, do temperament testing...REPORT COMMENTS
