My doberman, now passed on at age 12, was the most gentle and loving pet I have ever known. So gentle with my grandchildren and all my rescue cats. She even mothered the homeless kittens in my care. Doberman Pinscher Dogs are a VERY loving, loyal breed. I have three and they are so good and not aggresive. all the dogs are aggresive but you need to train them. My father told me not to touch dog while she is eating but I train her while she is baby. I did all I want while she eating and she wont get angry at all. Dobermans are wonderful, intelligent animals and make great family pets. The only problem with Dobermans is that they can't be smarter than their owners. There are a lot of intelligent active military and their intelligent family members who deserve a great Doberman. Not sure the same can be said of the policy makers who have decided Dobermans are not allowed to live with their owners on a military installation. Maybe the policy should be that only families who have Dobermans are allowed to live on a military installation as it demonstrates the intelligence of the servicemen/women.REPORT COMMENTS

My work with dogs has yet to show me a true vicious dog. Only cruel humans. Dobermans have served in the Military's time of need. Yet in their time of need you abandon them. Dobermans SHOULD NOT be on this list. While Dobermans can be protective, they are not aggressive. Breed specific legislation is prejudice. The worst dog bites that have occurred in my neighborhood are from GOLDEN RETRIEVERS. ANY dog can be aggressive. Dobermans are service dogs - the pride of the U.S. Marines. I spent a good portion of my life discriminating against the doberman breed. Until my husband talked me into adopting a dobbie mix from the pound. She is the most loyal, caring, and smart dog i have ever owned. She is good around children, the elderly, horses, and cats. She might look and sound scary when you knock on the door, but she doesnt have a single aggressive bone in her body. I would give up the army before I would give up my dobbie. The army obviously has no loyalty to a breed that served this country.REPORT COMMENTS

I have had 6 Dobermans in my life. I cannot consider any other breed for myself or family. I am also an Iraq veteran with ten years of service before getting out. I think this policy is a shame beyond words. The Doberman served our nation in the second world war with honor and distinction.
