Dobies are a great Family dog to have around.. To add them to this list is ridiculous. Everything you have heard about dobies have given this a bad name...If a dog is consider "bad" It is because of the owners and is NOT the dogs fault. Dogs are not born mean.. People make them that way.. Dobies should NOT be Banned from Military housing. If my 3 Dobies could sign this I am sure they would. -

What?! The descriptions they give for other dog types they don't want would include ALL dogs, including yappy fluffy squeak toys. This is just absurd! Dobies have a loooooong military history. Some of the 1st heroic dog stories were with dobies. They're bred for their intelligence, loyal and gentle nature. The only aggressive thing they were bred for was their looks and that was originally for a tax payer to walk through town unharassed.ANY dog can and will be protective of its family and property. People need to quite with breed segregation!!REPORT COMMENTS

I remember as a child in the 80's when my dad was relocated to Connecticut and we had to move into navy housing...we had to get rid of our Shelties whom we had for 9 years! It still breaks my heart to this day and I am almost 40!REPORT COMMENTS

There is no such thing as a bad dog breed, only bad people who raise their dogs poorly.REPORT COMMENTS

I am an Army Captain and loving Doberman owner. No study or group has ever declared this a dangerous breed. They are a German Protection Breed just like the non-banned German Shepard. The Doberman was once a loyal and brave service dog in the US Millitary. This ban was instituted by someone who did not do the proper research.REPORT COMMENTS

I have a 3 year old male Doberman who is the sweetest lovable and mushiest dog. Due to their intelligence they can be trained to be aggressive if that's what you need them to do. However, that is not in their nature. They are portrayed that way in the movie industry but think about it. These are working dogs and look how well they do as actors ... that's why they are chosen for so many jobs because they are so astute. People need to do research on this breed. I hope this helpsREPORT COMMENTS

Dobermans are a very sweet breed of dogs...they are very loyal and very good family dogs.I would trust a doberman with anyone...they have a very bad reputation but if people only knew what great dogs they are they would change their opinion...I hope that people change their mind and not ban this breed from their families!REPORT COMMENTS

It's crazy that they would just decide to ban a dog because of the reputation it's gotten in the past and from the Media. Doberman's are one of the friendliest breeds of dogs I've ever met. I would never live somewhere or work for a place that tried to ban me from keeping a specific type of pet if I already owned one. It would be like asking me to get rid of a child.REPORT COMMENTS

I have a doberman, and I too was told I would have to move off post. My dog is like my child, he is very loving, has a mild temperment and wouldn't hurt anything or anyone. I find this totally rediculous to punish an entire breed. Infact, it's like racism...what would happen if someone told you that you couldn't move on post because you were black, white, hispanic, etc..because studies show that for such and such reason you have the propensity to become violent...seriously?? this is stupid! My husband has served in the army for 19 years !REPORT COMMENTS

Isn't the facts based on how a dog is trained to react in any given situation? Dobermans have been a valuable asset to our servicemen and women. Don't these people deserve the best! Dobermans are extremely loyal to there master.REPORT COMMENTS

I owned a Doberman and loved it! She was very gentle and sweet. You should like at your history, Dobermans has served next to our men during the wars, protocting our troops while they slept, watched over the troops as they marched. To ban part of your history is like banning all the past men and women who served. Small dogs are the biggest problem when it comes to biting. A Doberman will not bite unless you hurt their masters.REPORT COMMENTS
