I absolutely agree that this is a criminal act to suspend people's drivers license in Lieu of child support payments when every case is absolutely different and some people are imperative to drive for their work how can you pay a bill when you're not allowed to work in after years of being forced homeless and off the grid after court battles and countless unfair treatment by the child support community and not listening to me when I had real problems and real concerns when I had to get to work and they took everything away from me that allowed me to get to work and I still had to see my son get to daycare pay bills show up at work etc. so of course I'm going to sign this petition it's about time this petition came I've been waiting years for this Now maybe I can drive to work and pay for things like I was supposed to for the last 10 years and maybe I can drive and see my son as well who I have not seen for years because of this stupid stupid law in this treatment by the system

How does this person get to work so they can pay up? Looks like some with no job are having there license suspended and there's no hope of getting a job with no transportation. Not all jobs are 8am to 5pm in a business that public transportation is close enough to use. Why wasn't the law that allows for garnishing wages good enough? This defiantly needs to be reviewed and changed. With a bad economy a lot of jobs have been lost. Help us please! You put all these laws on the books so why not use the garnished wages and if there being lazy and living off welfare without a verified medical condition garnish there welfare.

This is very true, especially for some of us the real reasons behind the facts as to why the parent is receiving aid on a child to begin with, which to the agencies they for some reason find irrelevant , when I feel in some circumstances is totally relevant and it's not right or fair to the so called " abscent " parent. For instance, when a parent who prior to receiving aid for a child has always and was working but voluntarily quits his/her job because they seen an opportunity to get money for free so they could do "other" things with their time and get paid too. Not fair at all..

I was pulled over by San Diego Police Dept going to work about 4 weeks ago , I just started a new job it was my second day at the new job, The police officer told me my license had been susupened for 2 years , I told him thats in possible.....the police officer told me he does not recognize this code and it says that i never received notice from state in regards to warning of suspension of license that i have received in the past a few times. then I told officer I have not moved my address so officer had to call dispatch for help. he came back and said it was from child support and could not explain the state notice except i was never giving one. Officer gave me a ticket for driving on a suspended license and a notice that my license would be suspended if not taken care threw child support...2 TWO YEARS LATER! I have been driving my daughter around without my license for two years years - worked at UCSD as temp Plumber for one year about a year ago and applied for a permanent plumbing position and I did not even get an interview? But temp agency when I gave them my license I was not told anythings was wrong with my license and hired as Temp plumber temp ? And my applications for employment for the last two years was a waste of time and I lied on my applications not knowing about my license was suspended, dealt with child support and license was released so i went to the "DMV" to 1#) pay $15.00 to reinstate my license that i never would have let get suspended, plus - 2#) I needed evidence to show proof for my court date on or before Nov-30-2016 for driving on a suspended license - 3#) "And most importantly" Find out why the system failed and what happened so it will never happen again. The DMV clerk that started to help me could not even comprehend my question about my license " I mean not a thought or a clue just a number to call about general problems ?? I said can I speak to a supervisor please (and never once was i disrespectful with anyone) supervisor told me that I need to go to the post office or speak to my mail-man about what happened, I could not believe what she was telling me we don't have anything to do with that ......The DMV who deals with child-support as a enforcement tool and the front line DMV workers who deals with people's driving license on every topic but not on any helpful info or even a semi formal understanding to help the already frustrated person about there license....... even the supervisor at DMV told me to check with child support, I said i did they blamed you and rather then to say I don't know ( or the truth ) DMV worker blamed the post-office and my mail man ( tommy) who i Like and have a great relationship. I asked to talk to her supervisor and she started to say she does not have one....and i said everyone has a supervisor.......I was told i had to wait for at least a half hour because he was busy .....I said no problem .......I showed the supervisors supervisor the same paper work and explained what happened the same way...he (DMV supervisor) went in the back and came back with a big book then started to look threw the pages until he saw the same thing i was saying and matched my paper work - he told me its like giving you a ticket for a stop sign that is not there............and confirmed that the state never sent me any warning of any suspension of my license. I explained to supervisor this tool for enforcement threw the state is done like this " its a clear cut form of harassment, supervisor told me to get a printout for $5.00 and take it to court to show the judge and maybe they throw it out? I did get print out but point being ....why don't the California DMV clerks on the front line able to help you threw this process or even the supervisor did not have a clue "UNBELIEVABLE" the amount of people that go in California DMV for this kinda process for help and direction yet the people actually help you to reinstate your license are left in the dark " and yet tell a person to go to the post office or talk to your post man ............just tell me you don't know , BUT telling me to go to post office is adding to the broken system and is worse then no help at all. PS - Have a lot more about topic - but just one more for now - when child support takes your license away they take your child away, not all ( ANY) visitation exchanges are same the same and to say child support has nothing to do with child visitation ...sorry thats WRONG!!! when the state sends out warning letters about taking your license away for a tool , the truth of the matter is on that same letter they should add they are also taking away your child..........and away you and your child visitation.........and away your parental rights as a father........ and your child's legal rights to have constant contact with both parents ....BECUSE THATS THE TRUTH.

In case you didn't know, the support is for the home the child lives in. Food, lights, gas, clothes, extra curricular actives etc cost MONEY. IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW it's the self entitled LIBTARDS(HitlerY supporters I'm sure) like you that are so self centered and shallow that you refuse to see that we are forced into doing the bare minimum because we are expected to survive with as much as 60% of our pay gouged out for people like YOU!! By the way,,I also would be willing to bet that YOU think it's a good thing to limit the GOOD fathers to only see our kids 4 DAYS A MONTH with no money to take them to do anything outside of our dwelling!! So goFyourself with your insensitive snide remarks and join your libtard cult following and let the good people fix this family killing by design corrupt system of trash!!!

The system got it wrong again. They want their money but yet hinder those that lose a job. But when you're charging $85 in interest a month why wouldn't you hinder someone? You make it harder for a person to pay so you can keep the indentured servant for as long as possible all while sucking the life out of them. Just like they didn't advertise this petition on the government run media. Everything this system does is for a reason. It's not by accident and it's not because they don't know any better. Bull, criminals always know whar they're doing. Fact, not opinion.

There is a difference between unwilling to pay and unable to pay. I was the custodial parent of my 3 daughters for 5 years. I allowed my youngest daughter to live with her mother when I lost my job. I got NO support from her for 5 years with all 3 kids. She immediately filed for child support for 1 kid. They took 1/3 of my monthly inemployment making myself and 1 minor daughter homeless. Without my drivers license I have been unemployed for 7 years. I am 56 years old and have been a field service technician most of my adult life. The suspension has ruined my life. I have applied for countless jobs but my former rate of pay leads them to believe I won't stay. This suspension does nothing but ensure I will NEVER be able to make another payment, EVER.

This comments board would have many thousands more signatures but 85% + persons with no drivers licencees ( so no job either ) therefor do not have computers let alone internet access, hell most that i know are homeless because of it; I am a cabinet maker like my father before me and his father before him and his father before him. They took my licence for money owed while i was in jail...I knew nothing about the child support order till i got out. Try to get a job in my line of work without a drivers licence. I have not held a job in some 14 years

My daughter's father drove on a suspended license because he had to go to work. Then the court decided they were sending to to criminal and issued a warrant. He was arrested and bailed out, putting him in thousands of dollars in debt. He can't afford to help financially with my daughter anymore than he could before. If anything its worse for us. How does taking his license help collect child support when that license gets him to where he needs to go to earn money for payment. It's conflicting. The only one benefiting is the state.

My Dad has been paying on and having his wages garnished for years due to back child support that is through the roof with interest. He cannot keep up. Adding to the situation is this ridiculous law that allows the state to suspend his license. He has had his license suspended countless times, without notice, even through his wages being garnished. How does anyone expect this to help and not worsen the situation? He needs his license to drive so that he can work to pay it. And he is having to pay the DMV over and over again to reinstate it each time they do this. Seriously, how is this helping?!

I have been paying child support, and I am truck driver. I went to the DMV here in Georgia to add an endorsement , but was denied due to a hold in California. This happens every year and I pay every month. The system is horrible, because I about to lose my job for not having a valid CDL, plus I have to find someone in California to go pay money for the suspension. This has to stop.

I've lost two vehicles because after paying $4800 to clear up all tickets that caused my license to be suspended in the first place, I was resuspended for child support without notification and when pulled over my vehicle's were impounded for 30 days and I didn't have the $1500 in total fee to get the vehicle's back, this happened twice in a three years period!! Also I went to the child support office and their information about how much I owe is totally off claiming we were on AFDC for four years when it was only six months and they said that they would order an audit be done and ten years later they still have never done it!!!

This must be repealed !!. I am homeless, for 5 years now. There is no way to get a job, without a DMV print out, or a credit check. My kids are grown, and married - I spent all the time in the world with them. I paid my support when I could( buying school supplies, toys, college supplies when they were of that age, bought each - their first cars,etc...NOT a dead beat)..and, then came the Garnishments..That - is when I lost everything..CA. was generous- they only took 40 percent of my earnings. Oklahoma was treasonous- they took 55 percent of what was left, after CA...Plus - Both States suspended my license !! That was the end of a normal life , for me..Yes, I endorse this petition, 110 percent !!!

There is a collaborative court called Outreach Court it is in Orange County California through this court you can obtain your license back the court will renegotiate your child support payments usually wiping them out and you can get your license back for a very low cost it's worth checking out to see if you qualify the number can be obtained from the OC courts website good luck with this. PS it works for my friend that old 100000 in back child support payment s now he owes nothing and he has his license back.
