I am also unable to obtain employment due to outstanding child support owed. I am not refusing to pay and when had a job my child support payments were taken out before I got my pay. I agree that I should be responsible for my child, but when I can't get a job due to no license how am I to pay . If I had a license I could obtain employment . I think that it needs to get rid of the law that allows for the license to be taken .REPORT COMMENTS

I have a friend who got behind in his child support payments. He had a great job but, no matter what he couldn't keep up with the penalties. Child support eventually took his license causing him to lose his job and become homeless. How is taking a license going to solve back support?REPORT COMMENTS

the only reason i didnt make my child supp payments was because i lost my job.....i didnt want to lose my job it just happened...i diligently looked for work and found it but not before my license was suspended and now after falling behind on my bills i have to pay ridiculous fines and fees now that my license has been released .....i am a good father , love my kids, see them every weekend and always help their mothers with as much as i can...why am i being punished for losing my job?REPORT COMMENTS

This law needs to be revoked immediately. Has anyone contacted an attorney that will take this on? I have paid child support for 15 years and have been in arrears three times because of job loss or change in employment. Immediately my license was revoked each time, and illegal immigrants can get a license and drive to work?? This is outrageous!REPORT COMMENTS

This law took away my relationship with my child and prevented me from traveling to search for work..i was paying but i was laid off from my job and my unemployment was immediately garnished to the point where i couldnt cover my rent so i was forced to do the immediately available under the table labor to cover the rest of rent and food costs rather than search for employment and was relying on the one month of rent and child support my tax return would cover (immediately following the 2 months unemployment i was allowed)to find normal on the books employment but the whole return was taken leaving me homeless and unable to pay the child support or rent at that point. Then they took my liscense so i didnt have a car to search for work or to live in..recently a local church minister bought me a fishing liscense so that it might provide me a way to survive on the $4.30/day in food money i get..and child support took that... they took my ability to return to a position to comply with my arrears payments..the interest of which exceeds the amount per month i owe by more than double..my daughter is 20years old..i paid my support for more than 12 years while her mother was reporting me as being absent so she could recieve welfare..and even when she was caught the back support of which i had already paid was not revoked..i am now homeless with no way to get out of the situation due to this law that will not allow me to drive to look for work..they say once i get work and resume payment they will consider reinstating it..but how do i get from a safe place to sleep to a place to shower each day and from place to place when i live in a county where jobs can be 20 miles from one another? And ,forget about trying to survive..these laws revoking liscenses revoke a persons means of survival..both the drivers liscense and fishing and hunting liscenses are promoting undue hardships that in the end prevent the alleged intent for which they are directed.REPORT COMMENTS

I get the whole didn't make the kid on your own argument, and yes EVERY parent absolutely should help pay for raising said child(ren), but taking away any chance they had to do so is doing the kid a disservice. You can't have a job without a license, how are you going to get to and from work? Public transportation is a joke. Moreover, if you can't retain driving privileges, how can an employer trust you to hold on to a job? Get rid of this pointless ******** and let's watch unemployment rates decrease.REPORT COMMENTS

This law makes seeking and retaining work very difficult in many job situations. We live in the country and there is not public transportation here., People get more and more entangled in the legal system as many times they are forced to operate a vehicle illegally or not work.REPORT COMMENTS

JOIN FREE: Federal Class Action for U.S. Child Custody Victims - Friends, I just joined CAPRA as one of the lead plaintiffs in an upcoming landmark federal class action lawsuit against all 50 States and the Federal Government, because I qualify as: (1) a biological parent whose child custody was unconstitutionally removed without due process; and, (2) I have been directly impacted by that during the last four years, i.e., within the statute of limitations. This class action is on behalf of *both* types of "family court" -- for wrongful victims of divorce-and-similar-with-kids *and* for wrongful victims of child protection services -- and includes suing on behalf of ANY parent affected by either "family court" type. It's totally free to join, and the federal court relief being demanded includes the full restoral of my child custody rights under law, plus a nice share of the large amount in civil damages expected. Check it out! It just requires entering someone's referral Code to join, so PLEASE use mine - 42085JL619 - in the CAPRA registration form, located on the bottom of the homepage at http://parentalrightsclassaction.com Plus, check out their power-packed Legal Tips page for all parents fighting family court, too -- Wow!! Thanks!!REPORT COMMENTS

It is ridiculous to suspend a drivers license, how is the parent to get to work? I feel that this is just another attempt at CA to make it hard on the non-custodial parent in order to stack fines and interest.REPORT COMMENTS

At least I can join a group of NCP's that see the logic of this argument. We understand the intent but the consequence is to sever. Even more, to be in court room with a Judicial Assistant, My X and the court appointed DA representing her (not to mention the pre interview they give you before your case is called) ......I think you know the rest! That type of power and control of process and law is where I see the flaw in it. We have to pay for a defense attorney, money gone. Ok, my last one....you will have your new family household(sucks to say that)income and give it to a deadbeat mom that uses the system to be lazy, your new wife better not make more than you or its gonna be rough. Thanks for listening, hope we can get his changedREPORT COMMENTS
