This law to stop licenses to make the non-custodial parent to pay alimony and child support has to stop because it is unjustifiable truth that this law its to get the best interest for the children! Without licenses nobody can work and pay what people owes, without any permit from the gov no one can work not even to spend to the community... no licenses no money then who looses? EVERY ONE MOSTLY CHILDREN, THINK ABOUT IT!Feb 28th, 2016Someone from Winchester, CA signed.

My licence has been suspended for a awhile and it very hard for me to get around. I can't even go out and look for work due to suspended licence and how can i pay bills with out a job and drive to look for work. I think this law a very harsh for people who owe child support and very heart breaking as well.REPORT COMMENTS

The Great Recession has caused financial hardship for families. Action as serious as suspension of drivers license that causes a non-custodial parent to lose employment needs to be mandated by the courts. It is counter-intitutive that losing ones drivers license will result in payment of arrears.REPORT COMMENTS

The legislators have no idea just how hard this law makes things for the honest CA residents that do pay their child support arrears regularly. Everyone has times in their life when they just can't make a payment on time, whether it's a PGE bill or phone bill or insurance payment, sometimes the money simply is not there. I have no padding in my bank account after a 7 year recession. Just about every other entity is willing to give you a break for a little extra time, because they realize this. But not California Child Support Services. One mistake and you are thrown into this time-consuming and costly CDL suspension program that makes you a criminal even when you are toeing the line. This automated law is just another way for CCSD to make more money from us and to let them push the work out of their offices and sub it to some other CA department. Of course, I want people to pay their child support. I have been paying mine regularly for more years than I can count, and yet, it seems, every couple of years I am forced to jump through these hoops because I chose to eat and keep the heat and electricity coming instead of making a timely payment to DSS. This is morally wrong. I beg you, CA, readdress this law. You are badly hurting way too many of us. So now, once again, I will have to drive illegally for a week or two, waiting for paperwork to go through and borrowing money to get the added fees paid, taking time off to go to the DMV and spending more than 2 hours contacting CS Services 5 times and then waiting all day for them to call me back. I am so freaking angry.REPORT COMMENTS

Only a CA Family Court Judge should be able to suspend a drivers license regarding child support. The current law is ridiculous. In my experience the law has caused more complications and hardships to families, than it has helped. Child support is a serious issue. But the law simply makes the problem worse. California can do way better to resolve the issue, rather than the status quo. This law has to change.REPORT COMMENTS

This law makes no sense! My trade is a truck driver now for 18 years. This law has caused me to loose several jobs. This law allows child support to to suspend your license if you miss a payment. Then Dmv requires you to pay a fee. This is such a racket. I feel if no did no wrong as a driver you shouldn't have your CDL taken!! Not to mention with your CDL taken child support has no means of recovering there money as we are not able to work!!REPORT COMMENTS

We signed up for payments to be withdrawn automatically, their system waited to pull the payment the first of the next month instead of the 28th and the recommended to the DMV to suspend my husbands license. This is unjust and ridiculous. He is a truck driver, without a license he cannot work. Reverse this terrible and unjust law!REPORT COMMENTS

Have had numerous suspensions of my license, after having the same job for 15 years as a route driver, and two daughters I pay support for, my career came to an end in 2015. The only reasons my garnishments were skipped was either a vacation check that was late, or had just had surgery and awaiting disability. Thanks CDCSREPORT COMMENTS

The ultimate goal of Child Support Agencies throughout California, is for the betterment of the child involved, correct? Then the suspension of daddy's driver's licenses who are having difficulty making full payments is simply not in anyone's interest. The State of California and its legislatures apparently do not have the child's best interest at heart if this ridiculous law continues to be enforced... when the state interferes and makes it considerably more difficult to find a job then what are we to believe? they lack compassion? or some complete idiot wrote this bill and their clueless peers voted for it...? or was there another reason this offensive bill passed? Whoever involved to get this passed should be ashamed of their failure to represent the people and their best interests!!!!REPORT COMMENTS
