I am having a difficult time finding employment, because I'm not bilingual, I was called back for a second interview and because I wasn't bilingual I did not get the job although qualified. It is a sad day in America.

How is it that demanding applicants speak English is illegal but demanding that applicants speak Spanish is not?

i am a health care professional and cant get a job because i dont speak Spanish. Also the local unemployment wont give me training as a CNA because im not fluent in spanish. I feel this is unjust in america. I think we should be hired for what we skills we posses not what languages we speak.

The preference for fully spanish speaking or bilingual hispanics in the work force only further deteriorates job opportunities for Americans. This immigrant favoritism MUST stop! It is hard to get a job anymore without knowing Spanish, and it just isn't right.

In southern california it is nearly impossible to find a job in which being bilingual is not prefered. Even with skills to do the job, we english speakers are becoming punished for speaking the language of our fore fathers. These unfair discriminitory practices must be stopped. I see it no different than posting a sign that says "Latinos" only. How can people assimilate without the desire to learn the language. We need to stop accomidating and start regulating!

It is discriminatory to ask an applicant if they can speak Spanish. I have been in several stores where an employee can not speak English, is that because the one that hired them is also Spanish speaking. This North America and the primary language is English. I believe the question should be, "Do you speak English?"

I am a college graduate and I still have problems applying for jobs because they require you to be bilingual in Spanish! I have been an American Citizen all of my life and was never required to speak another language until now. Due to the influx of spanish speakers, companies only want to hire bilingual/spanish people. This is unfair! My family speaks Creole, French, and English. Why should we have to learn Spanish just to accommodate them? I am so tired of this!!

Spanish speaking should NOT be a bona-fide occupational qualification in the United States of America. If the job needs a translator, then a FOREIGN language can be a required skill. Americans need to take back America!
