I'm a construction worker for with 15 yers experience. More than qualified for a position in the construction field yet I can't find employment due to a requirement of being bilingual in Spanish! This is an outrage, how did Americans get shoved to the back of the line for people coming to this country?! It needs to stop, and we need a president with a back bone to make it stop! Granting amnesty to 4-5 million illegal immigrants didn't help anybody and it only hurts the American work force. English is the language that I speak that my father speaks and his father and so forth. I should not have to learn a foreign language to cater to them. This is discrimination at its bet and I like to know what congress plans to do about this! We have families to support too, not just Spanish immigrants looking for a better life. I'm all for people coming here to better themselves but not at the expense of my family. They come here they need to learn to work and support themselves from ground up like very other god fearing hard working American! Not have everything handed to them. Sadly this petition probably won't do a thing especially with our mentally impaired president that we currently have but you know what why not try. I'm an American with a voice and it's high time to use it. Rise up against these illegal invaders. Obama says that he doesn't want us to target these people but him and the rest of congress is the cause of our hatred towards these people. Letting them run Americans out of the work force with their idiotic logic of they take the jobs that Americans don't want. It's not a matter of wanting these jobs! I can think of a thousand other jobs if rather do but I know construction very well and it is my livelihood! It's not a want its a necessity to Americans abroad! Welcome to the divided states of all Spanish nations of the world!!!!!

I went on an interview today and was told by TWO people.....one at the front desk and the supervisor who interviewed me that......This company only hires people who are bilingual......HOW IS THIS LEGAL??? So okay I'm qualified for the job but because I was born here as well as my parents and we only speak English I'm discriminated against. This is outrageous!!! I live in TEXAS......and unless you speak fluent Spanish.......go live someone else otherwise you will never get a break because you will always have discrimination if you don't speak the native language of Texas which is apparently Spanish. This needs to stop!!!

How is it not discrimination when my Italian child is being to forced by public schools paid public tax payers including 3rd generation Italian tax payers to learn a language not in my culture. This bad road for America. This is complete violation of my heritage and abuse of my tax money. Unless these schools require to teach every single language for every single immigrant in the U.S. this is by law discrikination and segrigation and complete insult to my herritage and to all others. As well considering the millions of dollars lligal parenting s and children in this country abusing our welfare, public services, and taxes .... where the heck is the right for this ????? Congress and other politicians leave the voting bribery out of my childs education and my equals rights for employment and heritage. How can we be united if we refuse to communicate. Their needs to be law suits for these currupted spanish movements, lawyers and politicians. People stand up against the spanish take over and spanish language movement ! Stand up or your righs for your heritage, your childs equal rights for their own heritage, for inclusion and quality education. Stand up for your rights equal employment opportunities ! Today had an interview with a fortune 500 company my interview was cut short because I am not bilingual. The job posting did not ask for bilingual, nor did the phone screener ask me. Same company in January interviewed me for a different position, interviewer asked if I spoke Spanish ( no where on the job description states bilingual) I have applied for 7 positions resulted into 6 phone screens into two interviews but two positions are still open. 2 interviews 6 weeks apart

I live in Los Angeles were the hispanics community is large. I haven't worked 5 years and continue to seek full time employment, but it very hard when every other job ad says must speak Spanish or Bilingual/Spanish or Spanish speaking only. For some positions I understand but for a position like file clerk or Imaging clerk, I don't understand. I have been on interviews where the interviewer is latino and being that I'm black, I know I'm not going to get the job even though I have more than enough experience to satisfy the duties of the position. Someone needs to do some thing about this. This discrimination is very disheartening and makes you lose trust in the government. The government is not looking out for american people. American people who families has been here for years and pay taxes to the US and has tried to uphold the values and Laws of this country all for you to be blatantly discriminated against. WASHINGTON, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE NEED YOUR HELP.

Companies that "prefer" Spanish speakers are blatantly catering to illegal immigrants. They are, in essence, supporting illegal activity and should be treated as such. As criminals. This pox is not limited to fast food workers but reaches accountants, lawyers, builders, bank personnel, and many other occupations. Many jobs in this country are being filled by less qualified workers BECAUSE those workers grew up in a foreign country and speak fluent Latino. (which is really the only way to get fluent in the vaguely Spanish dialects that Latinos use.) This is truly shameful. It is discrimination.

I absolutely feel the discrimination going against me because I don't speak Spanish, although I'm bilingual but in another language. I can't get a job in south florida simply because I don't speak Spanish fluently. What about if China who has already owned so much real estate in the U.S. decides, must be bilingual in Mandarin to get a job, what will the Spanish population do, learn to speak Chinese Mandarin....I think not. English was the official language in south florida until the boats came from Cuba and ruined this area of florida.....it's just unfair and wrong.

My decision to sign is not derived from hate, as some on this thread. I am a CA resident and we grew up with spanish classes. Although I did well in classes I cannot speak the dialect. School systems didn't prep anyone properly. I cannot get jobs I qualify for because the position desires bilingual applicants. This greedy attempt to attract or relate to more customers is blatant discrimination. How can this be permitted? You cannot equalize races by tying the hands of another. You simply get rid of the racial component.

American citizens speak ENGLISH and should not be required to be bilingual to get a job! If people CHOOSE to come to this Country, they need to learn the language. They're not being forced to come here like my ancestors were! This country needs to make ENGLISH ITS OFFICIAL LANGUAGE and stop putting American citizens out of the job market because we rightfully speak ENGLISH only!

I have been looking for work for 4 years. If you do not speak Spanish, you will not get the job. We are being discriminated against in our own country. To become a citizen you are to speak English, so why do I need to speak Spanish. If I go to Mexico, they speak Spanish, not English. If I go to France, they speak French, not Spanish, not English. Native to the country. This is reverse discrimination and President Obama needs to stop this. We as citizens , born here, have less rights than criminals, and those living here illegally, those granted access to this country, who can't speak the language required. PEOPLE STAND UP AND BE HEARD, THIS IS THE END OF ENGLISH .....

I've been unemployed for almost a year, and can't find anything. I have over 15 years in the health care system, and rarely get called for an interview. The few times I was called, I didn't get the job, because I didn't speak Spanish. Many Spanish speaking people always say just learn how to speak Spanish. That's not easy when, you don't have the money to pay for it. Everywhere you go, you can learn English as a second language for free. The only way you learn Spanish for free is in some grammar schools and high schools. Otherwise you have to pay for it. Can't pay for anything if you don't have a job. This is becoming a national problem. No other foreign speaking community does this and Chicago has a the largest Polish community than any other state. I think the Hispanic community have found their own way to discriminate against us for the advancement of their own kind. The sad thing is that the government is letting them get away with it. People have fought and died in this country for equal rights and opportunities. The requirements to be bilingual is totally against our civil rights.

Its sad that I am denied a job in my own country. A place I was raised, a place I was taught to love and trust. But I am constantly getting denied a job. Americas language is english, and thafs what I grew up learning. Its not fair to me that I am judge and denied a job by the language I was born in. This needs to stop now. No job in ameeica should deny me a position because of the simple fact that I am not bilingual. It makes me sick. I am a proud american, I deserve a right to be hired. I am not a prisoner but I feel like one. Trapped in my own country and can not get a job because I can not speak spanish. I might as well move to cuba.

In what other country do people move to and expect the local people to speak their language? You wouldn't move to France and expect them to speak English would you? No. It is outrageous that illegals can come here and get everything handed to them on a platter (health care, housing, drivers license, food stamps etc.) while people have worked their entire lives, just so their jobs can be handed off to someone who just moved here and then not being able to get assistance when it's needed. This has always been America's problem, putting other countries and people before their own, including the veterans! What a shame!!!

I am currently seeking work in my state and it very difficult because all jobs are desiring/requiring applicants to be bilingual (Spanish/English). I cannot understand why it is necessary for me to be bilingual in a country where English is the common language spoken. To make a point it is a requirement for immigrants seeking naturalization to speak, read and write English. If this a requirement then why are employers placing these demands in their advertisements for open positions within their companies? I am baffled by it all. I do hope some form of remedy comes from this petition because it is very unfair to the English speaking individuals like myself who invested in themselves getting an education which was not cheap to get better occupations to support their families and also pay the debt accumulated to get said education.

Got a B.A. 16 years ago. I live in Texas, and I can't get a city, county, or state job anywhere because of this bilingual stuff. Except for a brief 4 years stint at a white-collar job, I have been working class all this time. What did I get a degree for then? Nutz. This discriminates against most white, black, Asians, many legal immigrants, and even some young Hispanics who also don't speak Spanish. I can only assume this is to cater to illegal aliens. We are losing our common language and national identify, folks.
