Teachers give way too much homework and it stresses out the students! Studies actually show that the high amount of homework is causing depression, anxiety, and many other things in students. Students are also up very late trying to do their homework and then they are tired during school. Teachers shouldn't give as much homework! We go to school basically all day and barely have any time to do anything at home, then there's homework. We have no life with the amount of homework they give us!! Homework is a vile, evil, ugly thing that destroys lives and wastes astonishing amounts of time. It rots imagination and kills creativity dead. The soul-crushing mountains of endless, pointless, useless homework I have had to do in my 12 miserable years of schooling have left me with a massive amount of unacknowledged rage that I am only now beginning to tap into - rage at my 12 years of squandered life, vitality, and intellect that could easily have gone into greater things. Today I am a philosopher of logic and language, andI study philosophy for only an hour a day; this is more than enough time to achieve a deep understanding of even the most difficult of subjects within a very short amount of time - and in terms of sheer intellect alone, philosophy is the most intellectually demanding subject on earth. If children are not learning effectively after SEVEN HOURS of schooling every day, then there is something wrong. Homework is just a vile insult on top of this very great injury. Seven hours of schooling a day is a RIDICULOUS amount of time to spend studying ANYTHING - and homework, on top of all of that, is a disgusting and idiotic crime against children everywhere. Ban homework. The sooner the better. It is anti-intellectual and dehumanizing. It is the opposite of deep intellectual activity, and seems designed to actually destroy such activity. If I live to see the end of the vile institution of homework, I will die a happy man. Philosophers frequently state how there are many forces within society that try to prevent people from becoming philosophers (deep thinkers). Im just in 7th grade and gettings 5 paragraph essays every night homework from other classes is WAY to much. Going to sleep at 12 or 1 in the morning is crazy i need like 9 hours of sleep and im only getting about 6 its ridicules how much time i spent and also after school activities ruin everything. Home work is getting ridiculous, My seven and Eight year old should not be having night terrors from the STRESS of home work. Thid common core needs to STOP to. We have children killing themselves over homework. When is enough enough ? I am having stress from this homework. After that school bell rings they should be able to go home and be a child and spend FAMILY time. They spend seven hours sitting and then are expected to sit for two more hours after school for more work that should be getting taught in school. I never really cared or stressed too much over homework, but now that I'm in high school, I've finally realized how time consuming it can be. I get headaches and back pains and a lot of people think students over exaggerate their problems. They don't. It's like teachers pretend to care, or maybe they don't realize that a teenager getting homework in 8 classes everyday is stressful. Especially when it's all due the very next day. I enjoy free time and I try to use it to do the things that I love doing, but I can't because it'll take me almost 3 hours to complete all my homework. I would very much appreciate it if the school board looked into this issue a little more because I'm sick and tired of getting these headaches and crying in frustrationREPORT COMMENTS
