Homework should only be study and projects, not busy paperwork. Students need time for extracurricular activities, and like adults, they need time to unwind after a long day of work. In high school, homework stressed and gave me chest pains. I don't want other students to go through the same thing.Nov 8th, 2015Someone from Potomac, MD writes:
Homework stresses me out after school. We just had 6 hours of school, can that be it for the day? For people who have after school activities, wanting to spend time with family, and with friends, homework is too much. Ban it and children's lives will be much better. You'll notice.REPORT COMMENTS

I have so much homework that I feel like I'm not living life to the fullest. More useless work after a tedious day of school is the worst feeling, as I know that I could be doing something productive and something worth my time. I should be working on making some money by now, but homework is what prevents me from being able to do this. They expect us to do well when we're struggling to just keep our eyes open. I'm done.REPORT COMMENTS

Homework should be banned. After school time should be for play, chores and time with family. Those are important learning times as well, just not on paper. By the end of the day, children are burnt out and homework is not productive, it only disrupts valueable family, play and chore time.REPORT COMMENTS

I sleep 3-5 hours nightly and can't do it all. If they want more classroom time, maybe they should have it be 3 or 4 classes as opposed to five. Nothing about school is geared towards helping people to be strong individuals.REPORT COMMENTS

I am going to write a petition for my school regarding the immense amount of homework we students receive with absolutely no empathy from teachers. I am stressed. I am tired. I am done.REPORT COMMENTS

Teachers seem to forget that we have other classes/a life after school. Now your probably thinking, what do you do COD? No I have to juggle sports, family time, and just time being a kid. I'm already stuck in a room for 7 hours so why should I have to go home and 2 more hours of workREPORT COMMENTS

Teachers seem to forget that students have 7 OTHER CLASSES to worry about. They expect us to sit still for 7 hours straight, then spend another 2 hours doing homework, and another hour practicing an instrument (for me at least because I am in orchestra). A growing child isn't going to want to spend their free time doing more school work instead of relaxing with a nice nap or playing outside with friends. Kids now are spending valuble exerscise time doing home work or stressing over homework that was unable to be finished. More homework causes stress, and stress can cause depression, and maybe even suicide.REPORT COMMENTS

Why? Alot of us have so many things to do after school, and others who don't (but after school should be your time, right?), We're in school for 180 days, the year has 365 days, 365-180=185, that's over half of the year. After school shoud be our time to hang with our friends and relax! -Gaston P. Long Beach, CAREPORT COMMENTS

We have to make sure we're in clubs at school, clubs outside of school, homework, studying, and non school obligations. Then we need to know what colleges we want to go to, apply for them, pay for applications, do internships, community service, AP and honors classes, scholarships. Hours upon hours of work and yet we need about 8 hours of sleep. I wake up at 4AM to get to school and don't sleep until about 1 or so in the morning because I also have a job so I can help my parents with rent and school supplies. I break down in tears over all the work I have to do and yet it still never seems like enough for the school district.REPORT COMMENTS

Homework is a complete waste of time! If you can't make a student learn something throughout the ENTIRE 180 DAYS OF SCHOOL then it is useless for them to be wasting time after school!REPORT COMMENTS

It's been scientifically proven that homework has very little correlation to student's success. If we care about the health of our children as a nation, we need to stop giving senseless homework, starting right now.REPORT COMMENTS
