I can't even have quality time with my family anymore! I have so much stress to deal with that i can't function properly sometimes. I want to live my childhood but instead im stuck in a room all day with piles of papers to do and no free time at home from homework i get. -

My daughter was getting so much homework in 3rd grade that it was close to midnight and she wasn't done. She started having seizures which I couldn't comprehend why she was shaking all over since it had never happened to her before. Throughout her school year and the following she had seizures about once or twice per week from 8-10 years old due to stress cause by the fact of having so much homework and for lack of sleep because she was staying up late past her bed time. I am a parent who wants everyone to know the dangers of leaving so much homework on children. It stresses them out, they don't have adequate sleep, it ruins their family time, they have little or no time to continue being a child and play outside with family and friends. I believe homework should be for about 20 minutes per subject, considering there are 6-7 classes on a regular middle school and high school. In Elementary school homework shouldn't be more than 30-45 minutes overall subjects.REPORT COMMENTS

I genearly enjoy learning, but homework has changed that. Instead of looking forward to it, I dread it. At least three times a day, I'll break down and start sobbing because of all the stress I've been put under. Homework was one of the things that triggered the mental illnesses I battle with today. If it means getting rid of homework, I'd be fine with going to school on the weekends or lengthening the day. Anything to rid myself of what causes me this much pain.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a high school student and my teachers tell me that it is important to be in a lot of after school programs, get in a sports program, eat a healthy and long meal, and get a ton of sleep, but the problem with that is homework. I have homework every night in all of my classes. This puts a strain on me because my bus gets to be house around 5:00. Then I only have a few hours to do my homework which involves much studying. As well as papers and just your average homework. I also have to get up at 5:20 in the morning just to get on the bus. So because of all my homework I get very little sleep at night. Which also hinders me from eating breakfast in the morning. I also do not eat school lunch because it discust me so I wait till I get home. Which also takes time out of me doing my home work.
