Why dont H4 EADs demand for wage restrictions similar to LCA for H1B and work in US with dignity? There is a reason why H4 EADs are flooding the job market with low salaries. If they are so qualified they would have got an H1b themselves based on merit. The only way for H4 eads to prove themselves is demand wage restriction which will not displace any more deserving candidates in a job. Let there be healthy job competition.REPORT COMMENTS

To all who think H4 EAD is spoiling the job market - I am an IT professional with over 16 years in the market. I feel it is not fair if H4 EAD holders are singled out for this. If people with fake resume are spoiling someone's job prospects then the skillset and ability of these persons are called into question. And I have not seen fake resumes go a long way in the interview process and even if they do, they are generally not able to survive in the job for long. Fake resumes and applications have impacted legitimate H1s and GC waiting queues and should not be addressed with legislation. It is the individual recruiters and interviewers responsibility to identify fake resume. Someone said, 'Now they (H4) are fighting as if it was their right to work and pay taxes'. I say, Yes, it is everybody's right to work and taking away that right is putting their mind and abilities in shackles. H4 EAD is a progressive action by President Obama. Anyone who thinks their position in job market is threatened by H4 EAD must seriously look into their skillset and try to upgrade themselves to stay relevant. Consulting companies, please stop encouraging people misusing H4 EAD's. When you hire a non IT background person with no experience or experience they got from 2015 after H4 EAD rule passed and place them in clients, you are really spoiling the software jobs and allowing fakers to enter. They will survive as the team mates will be helping them or will be getting help from spouses or through training. But think about a person who has done 4 year computer or masters degree in computer and looking for jobs. H4 EAD's should be allowed only for business and when they are applying in IT jobs, there should be some DHS labour approval process, the same way how H1b's are going through. The good mentality of the people here is trust and help which many H4 EAD's are taking advantage of.REPORT COMMENTS

Just do a search on how many H4 EAD people with no IT related educational background is in software job as QA or BA. These consultancies should be blamed for selecting them and presenting them to the client. H4 EAD's should be allowed only to start business or work in IT jobs if they have the related educational background or prior experiences. Not the experience they got after 2015 with H4 EAD law as all knows how they entered in to software field. This won't be allowed in India and many who have misused or are stillmisusing H4 EAD's are really a threat to the americans or people with related education and skill set. Who will be hired? A citizen who asks for 50 dollar or an H1 who asks for 45 or an H4 EAD who asks 20 dollar ? Think! There are many trainings offered specific to H4 EAD people to work in IT fields. People are misusing H4 EAD for IT jobs. Please don't allow h4 EAD people with non- IT related back ground and no prior experience to work in IT software jobs. H4 EAD was passed in 2015 and H4 ead's rushed in to IT jobs with fake resumes and now they are all experienced professionals. Then whats the use of bachelors or masters degree in computer or IT. Will this be allowed in any other skilled profession? H4 EAD's drastically spoiled the wages offered to IT people as they are ready to work for less pay . Now they are fighting as if it was their right to work and pay taxes. H4 EAD's should be allowed to work in business and the jobs related to their educational back ground and prior experience. Why they are more special than other people to work in IT jobs with no related education? For sure they wuill survive atleast for some months and there they got the experience to put in the resume for their next job. If they have friends to help or working in a big team, they will survive as everything is a team effort.REPORT COMMENTS

Please save H4ead, I have two Masters Degrees in computer science from USA and I moved from student Visa to H4ead and have been contributing to the the economy and science technology for USA. By and large, H4 EAD is for used for spouses of H1 workers who are in line to get their green card. And the line exists only because of the by country quota. H4 EAD is the employment authorization given to spouses of certain H1-B visa holders who are in line for green card. Green card backlog for some countries is more than a decade and despite being highly qualified, in past we were forced to be at home and unable to work and support our family. The EAD just accelerates the timeline of authorizing us to work else the wait time to get approval to work in the US take away prime tenure from our life. The current administration is in the process of revoking our right to work. We are law abiding, legal residents and pay our fair share of income, social security, Medicare and even real estate taxes. If our right to work will be taken away we will no longer be able to make our ends meet. Please do not take away our rights to work we do not want homemaker to be our only identity.REPORT COMMENTS

Please do not revoke H4 EAD. This work permit is pragmatic and thoughtfully drafted, since the beneficiaries of this EAD are people who have cleared stages of Green Card process and awaiting the final stages due to Green Card backlog per country. H4 EAD holders contribute to the growth of US economy in terms of contributing through taxes, social security, medicare and increased purchasing power. Also considering many H4 visa holders hold various professional degrees and work experience, they are an asset to the US economy. Many H4 EAD holders who are currently employed have also been able to purchase homes resulting in more real estate investment in the US. Given a situation of revoking H4 EAD, there would be massive financial losses through foreclosures, poor standards of living for their families and their US born children, inequality to immigrants mainly on the grounds of per country Green Card limitations and financial troubles due to single earning family member unable to manage the increased cost of living. Further note that due to the employment gap for these H4 EAD holders, it will be very difficult to find an alternative job when the Green Card/ Citizenship is granted in the future, thereby increasing unemployment rates. H4 EAD is not provided to every visa holder. It is only granted to a select few spouses of primary H1B visa holder who have already been approved for an employment-based green card and face a long unforeseen wait due to huge employment-based green card backlogs. Decades of wait time to get approval to work in the US take away prime tenure from our life. We are not contributor to economy and also our spending power is taken away. With our earning capabilities threatened, we are reduced to a mere spectator in today’s thriving American economy. Our positive impact towards the community is annulled. Hopelessness, despair, lack of confidence, depression, dependency, rising costs, families forced to be one-income families, and the opportunity to contribute to the various communities we live and thrive in will be lost. We are law-abiding LEGAL residents of this country paying taxes as a CITIZEN but deriving no benefit of being a resident. I have engineering degree in IT and have done masters in IT and Marketing. Currently I have applied for H4EAD and it is about to go through soon. Please support H4EAD. After so many years of waiting in greencard backlog, which in my case it is now stood at 13th year. Because of H4EAD, I could now able to get my wife to work and support me in bringing kids as future american citizens. She got Master degree in India and even went to college in US, to train as Nurse. But because of no SSN and no authorization, she couldn't get admission in many colleges. Now with the hope of work authorization, she is working and continuing her studies part time. We are now signed to move into house to support growing family. If her work authorization gone, she will be depressed and could take a toll in our plans to stay in US for long....Couldn't understand the reason behind eliminating H4EAD, which is very small percentage in the work authorization permits.REPORT COMMENTS

H4 EAD is a life saviour for many Indian families who would otherwise be broken thanks to the long waiting period for people from india. Please note that this EAD is given to only those spouses of H1Bs who already have an approved I-140 and are already in queue of becoming a permanent resident. If the wait period for Green Card was not 10-15years then there was no need for such a rule. But that is not the case! Giving the ability or atleast the choice to work is like a fundamental right now in this century. Please don’t take it away and kill hopes and dreams of thousands of these people ( mostly women) who are not just slowly creating an identity for themselves but also spending in the US economy in turn helping in the rise of consumerism’s! My wife came here on a dependent visa f4 with a master's degree on food science & nutrition from University of Leeds. But because she was a on f4 dependent we waited for my H1b and once I got H1b in 2012 she waited for a sponsor. No help was found not a sponsor. So she went ahead and did an associates degree from Jefferson Community College in computer science with 4.0 GPA (won accolades from the Dean all semesters) and finally got a job on OPT and applied for H1b twice (not picked up in the lottery twice). Finally she could get back to work thanks to H4EAD. This work authorization is a freedom, respect to the highly educated and qualified spouses who contribute the most value to the American society. I and my family relocated here to the US and are waiting forever to get our Green card.My husband is highly qualified and quit his job in India so that we can stay united here in the US .. relief came when he could also work on h4 EAd which is only given to spouses struck in GC backlog. He is young dynamic and well appreciated at his work .. Now if the EAD goes away just like that it would make our family apart. He just cannot sit and waste his carrer his life. This would seriously depress him, affect our relationship as a family. H4 EAD is a life savor of many indians waiting in gc backlog. It gives the spouses the Independence to work and contribute to US economy as well boost the economy with investments and tax returns. This EAD has given work authorization to only those highly skilled H1B spouses whose I-140 is approved but are waiting in the green card queue due to per country cap. This rule has given some relaxation to H1B spouses who can work and take some financial responsibilities of their families and also can contribute to USA economy.
