We are going broke paying child support for my husband's daughter. We have three other children and my husband is out of work. My stepdaughter's mother dresses her in designer clothes and refuses to work--she uses the child support money on herself. Meanwhile we are barely making it. Our twins are 11 months old and we can't afford to pay dr bills. These laws are supposed to protect children but they are endangering mine. My husband's ex wife ended their marriage and he is being taxed for it. How is this constitutional? This system breaks and bankrupts families and makes people who couldn't get along to raise a family together hate each other even more. It makes lawyers and conniving women rich without having to work for it. Please change these laws. The system is broken and innocent children are suffering!

Most men I know ordered to pay have their child fulltime and are being jailed and put through poverty and the children suffer. Courts and municipalities should get no cut of any payment as that only breeds corruption in the system. I have my child full time and have got nor asked for anything from the mother and we are doing fine thanks to my family I am too afraid to ask for support our take it to court because she would be angered and try to take my child to save a buck even though she has only visited a handful of times in the past two years. I live in fear of this every day. I am getting my child counseling because of this. Cold support as is doesn't care about the children. It's nothing more than income for the state.

It's tough being a father who pays child support. Any time you get a raise your pay ha to be revised by CS. It's not fair that my raise gets took from me. I'm not allowed to get ahead. I have to continue to struggle because I have kids. What's more upsetting is that I'm apparently supposed to pay 70% of a medical bill after my insurance coverage. I pay my child support so that my children are cared for. Does that CS not count for medical bills. What about my summer times with my son's? I have them every other week but I'm still ordered to pay CS while I have them plus provide for them while I have them. I can't afford an attorney because of this! I don't feel that I'm bring treated fairly. What are my options here?

It's a pretty screwed up system..the case worker keeps saying he wants to be "fair"..makes me want to vomit on his desk each time he says that.My wife of 18 yrs chose to leave me for a younger man, she was screwing a few different ones before she settled on the one she moved in with..I know in this equation that's irrelavant. Our kids are 18(still in HS) a 15 yr old and a 3yr old.The case worker calculates I should pay her over $900 a month if she has the 3.The 15 yr old wants to move in with me when I get a place in April ( I presently live in my truck),I just got a job paying $2,900 mo. So he says then that'll bring it down to $700 plus per month, so when the 18yr old turns 19 he is emancipated and she has one child and I have the other and the case worker says then I'll be paying ONLY! $450 per month and he calls that FAIR!!!!!@#!...the buttface she lives with makes at least $3,600 mo which she financially benefits from and she has her own business working for cash and tells the case worker she makes $1,440 per mo. which is not true and is hard to disprove ...she omitted an additional. $800per month ,she conveniently gives records for a portion of her true earnings. The way I see it with the 3 in the picture it should be I have one and she has two...my one cancels out one of hers and that leaves one that we should split the child care for...right?...wrong! The state is using the common core math... Even if I have the 15yr old full time and 180 overnights per year with the 3yr old...I still pay her "child support" ...what!?!!? Now I know how they feel in North Korea

Took them to the hospital when needed. The mother on the other hand kept working all the time so she wouldn't have to deal with the responsibilities. She never showed up to and doctors appointment barely the children's school. She wanted to control the father and always send the kids along everywhere that he went so that she wouldn't be bothered. He soon got tired of it and decided to leave . Its like in some cases child support s wants to see these poor men or women homeless. The child needs both parents its a shame for them to see their father or mother. Lost because of stress or dead due to suicide. Things need Change how can u take care of your child and u have no car no house. And lost your mind due to over worked or homeless. Really some women are really just two bitter. You should not want to make a man take care of other children. When you don't have the birth father on child support. He has to live just like her I don't think that its right to let some of these unresponsible women or men. take all the man money just to be spiteful Thanks gladly for your time.

How in the world can anyone have confidence in this american government and judicial system when it stands behind a child support system that goes against everything that this country claims that it was built on like life, liberty and pursuit of happiness or liberty and justice for all? Clearly any man that has ever had to deal with the child support system know how unfair, unjust and bias against men all the judges, state attorney's and even sometimes family attorney's can be.I've come to realize that the reason no one is addressing this issue that so many men are suffering from is because these enforcement agencies are making money from each judgement they set up and that means millions of dollars of kickback money for the judges and state attorney's involved in them. Thats right the very people that are suppose to be looking out for the best interest of the children are using them as cash cows for themselves. They know that if they set support payments higher the harder it will be for the NCP to keep up with payments and once they go into arrears interest is added and taxed so the state makes money and in turn pays these enforcement agencies. In many of these cases the NCP is put in arrears before support is even set for the first time and if they can't get caught up,could face all the way up to jail time(MODERN DAY SLAVERY). Debtors prisons were outlawed and deemed illegal decades ago so how can these agencies jail people for debts they can't meet and this government not address it. Looking at all the names and reading all the testimonies on this petition the child support system definitely needs to be reformed. It no longer needs to be on the back burner but made a priority to this government and its law makers.

I was ordered to pay child support which I did until being laid off. During that time I fell far behind with interest added. All the while my kids were living with me. I paid for their clothes, activities, and fed them. My ex wife sent on vacations and rented a large home in the suburbs. Now the kids are grown up, I'm homeless but the kids are doing well. I still give them money when I can. It's a disgrace because on the outside I'm portrayed as the bad guy here. It's unfair in many cases and certainly ruins lives, as it has mine.

I had a child with a woman I wasn't with. I took her to every appointment while she was pregnant and stayed 3 days and nights in the hospital with her after she gave birth sleeping in a chair in the corner. I took 2 weeks off from work and slept on her couch to help take care of my son. Then I voluntarily paid 4-600 a month depending on how many paychecks I had that month. The state of New York took me to court because she used public assistance they slapped me with having to pay 740 a month plus insurance (for a grand total of 900 a month) then they told me I was in arrears for the assistance she recieved from the state. So with the arrears payment tacked on its 555.60 a paycheck! That's 1,110 a month! I can't even afford to put gas in my car anymore. I bring my son home with me for 2 days a week and always have since he was 2 months old. How does anyone expect a father to take care of his child at his house when every penny he has is going towards his childs mother and the state. This system makes no sense. She also lives with her parents rent free!

If anything needs to be changed it is child support laws. I pay child support and can't even claim it on my taxes. She gets all this extra income and doesn't have to claim it??? What is wrong with this picture?

I think that both the custodial and non-custodial parent should share in responsibilities and obligations. The non-custodial didn't create that child alone and shouldn't have to bare the scrutiny of the child support system alone. Eighteen is when an individual is recognized as an adult so nine years should be all that a non- custodial parent should be held responsible for and the other nine years should be for the custodial parent to be responsible for if you truely believe in equality. It shouldn't have to feel like a prison sentence when taking care of a child, parenting should be by choice not by force!

It's about time we all stand together on this issue. These support enforcement laws have gotten out of hand. In my state, Maryland, I call them the legal " Mafia." That's because they can extort whatever amount they want out of with no recourse.

The whole system is a scam designed to fill the states coffers due to Title IVD. Incredibly overpriced numbers for support and alimony that are not supported by realistic needs. It is easy to prove statistically that it is sexist as well. A person works and sacrifices for much of their life to get to a certain point but even when somebody comes along at 29 years old and never made those same sacrifices they can take the windfall that you finally get later in life.the whole system is criminal and nothing more than slavery. You cannot change your profession to make less money no matter how much you hate the current prison you are in because you are held to egregious financial commitments under threat of imprisonment.

Where do the law makers get the notion that every 3 years a mother can legally go down and ask for raise and if the father is making more they are entitled to it? That's your money that you've earned not for her but for you. If you child needs or wants something you should be glad to help if you can or want to, but the mother should not be able to go down and automatically get raises for money that will not go directly to the child. If the mother says I need to pay rent, lights, car note, etc and she can't make it without that child support and needs more money then the child should come stay with the Father if she can barely take care of herself. We all have to work and provide for ourselves are families, but that should not be to also take care of the mother. Furthermore the mothers should not be able to take up to 50% of the mans income. Many fathers cannon live or afford to live, buy food, reliable transportation because the these percentages. This needs to stop now just like racism!

My ex left and kidnapped my child so she could hold my child ransom for money and possessions. After 11 months of not being able to see my child and having no money (she drained the bank accounts on her way out) as I do not make a lot of money I finally had no choice but to let her take the rest of what I had and sign the papers. When I got in front of the judge this female judge asked me are you ok with the agreement? (I almost lost it when she stole my kid and held her ransom no one cared or wanted to help me) the police told me there is nothing they can do with out a court order. The court wanted me to get a lawyer and any lawyer I talked to wanted astronomical upfront retainer I could not afford just to try and help me. I begrudgingly said yeah and have been stuck with limited visitation and paying through the teeth to my ex. She now has another guy that also pays her child support and is living with yet another guy. I have been remarried now for 10 years and have 2 other daughters. When I got layed off and got 2 months behind on child support the Texas OAG office called me threatening to take legal action and the woman called me a dead beat father. I was like really? she leaves me I pay her payments, she has another baby daddy paying her child support as well and she is living with and sharing bills with yet another man. I always find away to pay for anything my daughters need and a lot that they want. My daughters none of them need for anything, yet when I get layed off and get a little behind I am treated again like a monster and harassed belittled and insulted. They then ceased my bank account for being only 2 months behind bouncing the rent check almost getting me and my other 2 daughters evicted. Now even though she freely spends my money on her bills not my daughter (coach purses and designer outfits) I am the one who has to pay income tax on that money that I am forced to pay her. its a joke she claims my daughter and she doesn't have to pay tax on the money that I pay her or the other baby daddy either. I really feel like its amazing to see just how corrupt this government is. Talk a good game, but no one in the government actually gives a crap about fathers other than they want us to vote for them. Its crazy I had to move away as she is a police officer and was using the police department lawyer for free to harass me legally as she knew I had no money to fight her FREE high priced lawyer paid by the police department via all of our taxes. That's my rant I will continue paying taxes on her income, my income and finding a way to provide for all 3 of my daughters the best that I can whilst having to live with the fact that she bad mouths me to my kid and lives with another man out of wed lock and continues to tell my kid she can't be in gymnastics because daddy won't pay for it.

Mom is getting support of my child through me and my family. But she still chooses to get welfare instead of ask the father of the other kids to do his part . In which the state requires me to pay dues to my son being part of that household but he is taken care of by me.

I have been paying child support without ever missing a payment for 16 years. I have join legal along with joint custodial and always have. I continue to pay child support based on the income of the mother who makes the same wage as me. I have PLEAD with the county to modify over and over again only to be told by OUR case worker that if I file a motion to modify child support my payments would go up. My daughter is graduating this year and lives with me but I still have to pay her mother who is a smoking gambling addict. I have finally given up pursuing the modification, every time I speak with the St. Louis County Minnesota Child Support Case Worker my X wife calls to repeat the conversation that was had with the county. This woman has been evicted from Section 8 housing for fraud as well as been caught for welfare fraud; unemployment fraud and Workman's Comp fraud. She hasn't filed her taxes in years and has been found guilty of tax evasion where I had to pay her taxes from her previous marriage. I have written letters to every branch of the government trying to get answers and had no help. I once turned down child support in court after she had tried to kill herself from over dosing on the pain killer Darvocet. She faked a separation after losing in court to only come back and hit me up for more money. Now this is the woman who smoked while pregnant and promised to smoke even more if I hounded her to quit. Are these child support laws even close to fair for the payer? The answer is no but no one cares.
